Who is Jesus?

I claim to be a Christian, but do I really know him?

I wont include what I already know because my beliefs may be wrong and what matters is the truth.

Please help me to understand who Jesus is.

I don't want to risk my eternal life away from God because of my lack of knowledge and understanding about Jesus.

WOW - You signed up almost 11 months ago and this is only your SECOND post.

According to the 4 Gospels of Jesus Christ, which explicitly states His views, regarding social issues, Jesus Christ was/is a liberal.
If you believe in Him, then your beliefs will run counter to what the vast majority of so-called Christians believe. For example -
If someone punches you in the face, you do NOT strike him back. You do NOT fight back at all. You do NOT whimper. You do NOT pull out a gun and shoot him. You ALLOW him to punch you on the other cheek.
If someone forces you to walk a mile, you do NOT attempt to fight back. You offer to walk a SECOND mile.
If someone takes your "coat", you do NOT fight to get it back. You offer him your "shirt" also.
You LOVE all of those Muslims, Buddhists, women who have had abortions, blacks, browns, yellows, and any other non-white race, the mentally handicapped, etc.
You also follow the examples that He set. For instance, since He NEVER owned or used a weapon, then neither should ANY of His followers. In other words, EVERYONE who isn't either in the military or law enforcement, is committing an antichristian act by having a weapon. The major gun organization in the U.S., is, by definition, an antichristian organization.

Of course, if you are an atheist, who is trying to pull a fast one, then you can go fly a kite - to put it VERY nicely. It's too early on a Sunday morning to say anything worse.

I looked over your "profile," and to be truthful, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

What does "titles being given" have to do with salvation?

Not for nothing, but "claiming" to be a Christian does not mean one is a Christian.

Before I waste too much time on this........are you 100% sure you are not just

Jesus is the Son of God, and our mediator between us and God. Without Him, our communication with the Father is cut off. He lived to be the perfect example and died to make men free. He resurrected for our justification. This Man, is the reason why we are here, the reason why we breath, the reason why we exist. Being a Christian all narrows down to, do you know Him....personally with a sincere trust in Him? Do you have a well built relationship with Him and the Father? Is He is your heart as the true Savior? He came so that He may die to take away your sins, my sins, the world's sins. Not cover it up and hide it, but take it away completely. This is a gift of grace that you can only receive by turning from your sins in faith. You must know Him personally, not externally.

What makes you think I or others on this site have the whole truth either. Frankly, you're in the same boat with the rest of us. Cling to His word, Seek Him and you will find Him. Love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, abide in Him and you'll be OK...Do your best to obey the Word and Him.

Ask God to make Jesus real to you!

Might still be helpful for you to post what you think. There are enough gracious souls on these boards (though sadly not all), that will correct you truthfully but lovingly if you happen to be off base.

In any case, if you want to know Jesus, best place to go is Scripture. Here is a nice simple explanation from the apostle Paul:

1 Corinthians 15 said:
Now brothers, I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you; you received it and have taken your stand on it. You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you—unless you believed for no purpose.

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received:
that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures,
that He was buried,
that He was raised on the third day
according to the Scriptures,
and that He appeared to Cephas,
then to the Twelve.
Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time;
most of them are still alive,
but some have fallen asleep.
Then He appeared to James,
then to all the apostles.
Last of all, as to one abnormally born,
He also appeared to me.

That should do for starters :)

I think the best thing for you to do is read the book of John... See we can go on all day about the Jesus we have came to know... But it would be like if I was trying to explain my mother to you... Yah you can get an idea, but unless you meet her in person you will never really understand who she is...

Unless of course you have come to know my mother and was asking what I thought about her to clarify or expand upon your view... If this is true, well done mate... It's a very intelligent and admirable thing to do. :D

Exodus 33:19And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Deuteronomy 13:17
and none of the condemned things are to be found in your hands. Then the Lord will turn from his fierce anger, will show you mercy, and will have compassion on you. He will increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your ancestors—

2 Chronicles 30:9
If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.”

Nehemiah 9:17
They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them. They became stiff-necked and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery. But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Therefore you did not desert them,

Nehemiah 9:28
“But as soon as they were at rest, they again did what was evil in your sight. Then you abandoned them to the hand of their enemies so that they ruled over them. And when they cried out to you again, you heard from heaven, and in your compassion you delivered them time after time.

Psalm 77:9
Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”

Psalm 103:4
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

2 Samuel 24:14
David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”

Matthew 23:23
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

John 5:46
If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.

Matthew 17:12
But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”

John 1:10
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

Luke 24:16
but they were kept from recognizing him.

Matthew 13:19
When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

Evidently I don't know how to use the reply button.

I'm not saying people have the whole truth but teachers are put in the church for a good reason.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.

Jesus is the entire Bible. It's basically a book about Him. he is the Word of God. The Word of God, is the Bible. Now replace Bible with Word of God. And replace that we Jesus. What do you get? Jesus. Let me rephrase that. If you read a book about penguins, will it tell you about sharks? I doubt that. Likewise, that's the Bible. It's all about Jesus. And reading the Bible, isn't easy. Many use their carnal mind to comprehend this Gospel. Don't. You'll be getting it wrong anyways. I can go on, and on, but it'd be a waste of your time. But, if you do want to listen to what I have to say, then message me. I would be honoured to help you.
And to everyone out there, if you don't know Jesus, and what He really did for you, then you can't gain eternal life. And like I said earlier, if you want to know more, message me. Because this Gospel, isn't for everyone. Only for those who really seek Him.
God bless.

(Matthew 16:13-20) [SUP]13[/SUP] Now when he had come into the parts of Caes·a·re′a Phi·lip′pi, Jesus went asking his disciples: “Who are men saying the Son of man is?” [SUP]14[/SUP] They said: “Some say John the Baptist, others E·li′jah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” [SUP]15[/SUP] He said to them: “YOU, though, who do YOU say I am?” [SUP]16[/SUP] In answer Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” [SUP]17[/SUP] In response Jesus said to him: “Happy you are, Simon son of Jo′nah, because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to you, but my Father who is in the heavens did.

I am confused about who Jesus is. However, I will remain silent about my confusion and allow God and teachers to help me understand who he is. I will ask my questions and share my confusion after the Word of God has been shared.

Job 6:24
Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray.

Lamentations 3:26
It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Ok. Well, there's a tonne of stuff people could say, and people will keep posting until you let them know you think you've heard enough. You could basically post the entire Bible, and it would pretty much all tell something about the person and importance of Christ.

Buckle your seatbelt... ;)

John 14

23If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24He that loveth
me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine,
but the Father’s which sent me. 25These things have I spoken unto you,
being yet present with you. 26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and
bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Lots of "christian" white noise but his words remain, unchangeable. Lots of doctrines of men but his words remain, unchangeable.

What better way to understand who Jesus is then to read his words.

For the longest time I misinterpreted who Jesus is. I'll have to ask God to reveal to me what he revealed to Simon. Like ElizabethPeter said our carnal minds are not sufficient in regards to understanding the Word of God.

I know I said I would ask questions and share my confusion. But my questions were answered and my confusion is being lifted.

Thank you all for the comments.

Please pray for me.

If you are serious in this matter, READ HIS WORDS OVER AND OVER, pray and ask for understanding. Dont listen to pastors, people, whoever, just read the words of the Messiah and His words only, pray and ask for understanding.

His words are clear and precise and one can not go wrong following them.
