Not to embarrass you but i think you only made a truce for the
sake of unity. And i dont think you are comprimising either.
Indeed brother, let us live in peace, seeing that:

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Did you have "En Attendant Godot" in mind when you posted this?

Because I am forcibly reminded of that Beckett play.
In college I did a library window with an empty chair and nothing else in it,
except the book "Waiting for Godot" folded open on the chair.

Everyone thought it was brilliant...but it was really just me, bein' lazy. :)

Hi Abiding,

I'm not aware of anyone who really teaches that being justified by faith in the cross is a license to do wrong (or, as you put it, live sinful lives). I'd say most of the people you refer to teach that God disciplines us when we do wrong.

Regarding your raising this topic I'd like to ask you about the doctrine you follow, as I often hear such criticisms from those who determine salvation/righteousness by obedience/works of the law.
Regarding the "sinful life" scenario you suggested, how do you view the salvation of such people and why?

"God’s method of salvation by grace has "established the law" in a threefold way. First, by Christ, the Surety of God’s elect, being "made under the law" (Gal. 4:4), fulfilling its precepts (Matt. 5:17), suffering its penalty in the stead of His people, and thereby He has "brought everlasting righteousness" (Dan. 9:24). Second, by the Holy Spirit, for at regeneration He writes the Law on their hearts (Heb. 8:10), drawing out their affections unto it, so that they "delight in the law of God after the inward man" (Rom. 7:22). Third, as the fruit of his new nature, the Christian voluntarily and gladly takes the Law for his rule of life, so that he declares, "with the mind I myself serve the law" (Rom. 7:25). Thus is the Law "established" not only in the high court of heaven, but in the souls of the redeemed. So far from law and grace being enemies, they are mutual handmaids: the former reveals the sinner’s need, the latter supplies it; the one makes known God’s requirements, the other enables us to meet them. Faith is not opposed to good works, but performs them in obedience to God out of love and gratitude." A.W. Pink

I expected at least 4 -6 responses just from this forum alone who have repeatedly
made that claim. Maybe they just havnt seen the thread.

I was expecting several denominations listed since that was the claim
and long lists of churches and pastors.

But it will come soon....since this was the very reason and motivation
given to teach excessively to worry about losing your salvation.
Oh, you want denominations? Well, this isn't true of all of them, but I have met a fair amount of catholics that believe you can sin as much as you want, and then just go to church on Sunday and get forgiven (my roommate in college said this to me, as well as a few others, but I've also had catholics deny it).

My Brothers and Sisters,

I only bring this up because of the sentiments the writer of the link below tells his readers. I know those here do not proclaim such, but that he is the sort of person who does teach that sinful living is ok. I will make no further remarks on this, but will let the reader ponder him/herself..

As to which demoninations teach a licentious gospel (yahoo search: what churches teach licentious gospel). The one link below gives the reader an understanding as to what to look for from a false teacher (not his words but his fruits). It is the church down the street from me who teaches it is ok to live unmarried with his girlfriend and their children, to smoke dope, and to have two familes which teaches a licentious gospel even though those words will never come from his mouth. So, indeed, it is the fruit and not the words one need to look at to determine if one is preaching a liberal gospel.

Ok! then. I thought we would never get one. I agree with the assessment of this article on Driscol.
How he keeps his mission is surprising to me. Notice his charismatic involvement. Not a surprise.

I hear in the forums and rooms almost daily that "many"
teach that since we are not under the law and justified
by faith in the work of the cross that its ok to sin.

Please leave names of these people for me to check out
Id very much appreciate it. Since many are teaching this
im sure the list will be long. ty

Im thinking its a rumor to excuse a hobby but i may be wrong.
Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. Matt 5:17 RSV

I cant really say too much because i dont know the facts. ive only observed
Ive watched some vids hearing Driscol was orthodox with reformed leanings.

He states he receives visions and in what ive heard him say about them ive
had to make a judgement. Ive taken the position his visions were not from God.
And furthermore they seem to titillate the crowds. And seems to me throw the
whole work away from the True gospel...anyway ive not done any real work
concerning Driscoll so what i say isnt good to make public..just my own opinion.

How can creation "all things" be reconciled unto Christ, but yet still be groan for redemption?

Colossians 1:19-20
19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

and

Romans 8:18-23

From Suffering to Glory

18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

My humble opinion, it's a "it is now but not yet" sort of thing. Unless your talking about deliberate sin.

12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. - Romans 6

This is straight forward.
This reality is apprehended by FAITH. If we truly believe what Christ has done, we will go after it! It's already finished. We receive the truth by faith (pistis) and act accordingly.
The sooner we learn what is written (alive and active) by reading or by hearing, the sooner we have the victory we need. If we are not taught, we will like Paul in 6, wrestle continually with SIN under the power of the LAW.

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. - Hebrews 11:6

"present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God."

"sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace."

How long will we take before we grasp we are powerless without GRACE?

Under Lincoln, if a slave did not hear about the emancipation proclamation why would we expect him to walk away from his chains?
