Did you read that right? It says that there are TWO traditions mentioned in the bible. The traditions of man and the Traditions of God. The Traditions of God are the Holy Traditions. Protestants follow traditions of men. LUTHERanism CALVINism ect ect. Founded and named after men. Lutherans are FOLLOWERS of MARTIN LUTHER. IS MARTIN LUTHER CHRIST?? NO. Why would they call themselves Lutherans if they didn't follow his ways [his traditions].
uh purleeze, is it time to bring out the gnostic orthodox stuff?

considering that the early church was mostly Jewish, and that many attended synagogue on the sabbath (saturday), i think a lot of the choosing of the day of the week to regularly meet had no small part in not interfering with previous engagements.

so Paul comes to town, and preaches the good news in the synagogue on saturday.. many believe, many want to hear more - do you think Paul said "OK let's plan on thursday.. " ? i rather think it was more like "let's meet again tomorrow"
Nope.

ACTS 13 [42] And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, THE GENTILES besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.[43] Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.[44] And THE NEXT SABBATH DAY CAME ALMOST THE WHOLE CITY TOGETHER TO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD.

"Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy"
"If you love me keep my commandmenys"
"Many say they know me but their actions are aganist me"
"On judgement day the book of laws was opened and people were judged according to what is in it"

MY QUESTION IS WHY ARE PEOPLE REJECTING THE LORDS WILL. WE CARRY OUR BAGS AND SAY WE ARE GOING TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY. SATURDAY HAS NOW BECOME A DAY OF PARTING AND SOCIAL EVENS. WHY? Someone please answer.
Because in Acts chapter 20:7 it says they gathered on the first day of the week to break bread, which is sunday. Then again in 1 corinthians chapter 16:2, it says On the first day of the week let each one of you put aside and save as he may prosper. this is the only reference of what day we are to gather together as the church, that we have. If you remember in the gospels Jesus said, it was once said you shall not murder but I say to you whoever is angry with his brother is in danger of hell fire. He said, you have heard it once said you shall not commit adultery but I say to you , .....you know the rest, anyway Jesus Had a redo or fulfilled the 10 commandments, except to keep the sabbath holy. For the sabbath was made for man. not the other way around.

Wanna show me some scripture that shows the change of the day of worship from the Sabbath to the day of the Sun?
Acts 20:7-8 KJV

And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

Peace be with you, this is our MASTER's Word, which is 'just and fair' about the true worship and worshipers to that Samaritan woman, which is written in the Gospel?
Read in the passage where JESUS talks with a Samaritan woman about her life and the true life to come that consist of true people that we must experiencing today and know as truth of the MESSIAH and that will stands forever, Amen.
Once you have read them, then we can discuss in order to understand. The answer is all there; "neither there will be a significant place for true worshipers, worshiping the FATHER."
Can i include 'no significant days' also for those true worshipers who worship the FATHER in spirit and truth?
Apart from these which are written and taught by the HOLY SPIRIT the inspirer of the Holy Bible, GOD who showed them to ordinary people and hid them to the wise and prudent, are all lies, deceptions and anti-CHRIST.
May GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST open your eyes and ears and bless you with spiritual discernment to the HOLY SPIRITUAL Teachings.

The above scripture shows nothing about the 1st day of the week as being Gods Sabbath day. It just states they were having a meal on that day, probably a carryover stay from the following day, the Sabbath.

What change?

Exod 16:27 On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they found none. 28 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? 29 See! The Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Remain each of you in his place; let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.” 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

Please explain. What I am missing?
Arab Muslims liberated Syrian Christians from violent oppression by the Greek Orthodox Church and never charged jizya.

A Short Overview of the Common History of the Syrian Church with Islam through the Centuries - Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch

Only through the campaigns of Islam in the first half of the 7th century was it possible to free the East from the Byzantines and the Persians. This happened with the help of the members of the Syrian Church; the original inhabitants of Syria of whom one part was of Aramaic origin who inhabited these areas for generations and another part was of Arabic origin. When the Arab Muslims marched into Syria they were welcomed by the Syrians who saw the new rulers as saviors who freed them from the yoke of the Byzantines because the Byzantines tried by force to assimilate them into the Byzantine Church. This was the church of the empire and membership in it would have meant compulsorily acceptance of the resolutions of Chalcedon: that Christ had two natures, the human eating, drinking and feeling pain and the divine making miracles. This would have been a denial of the dogma of their church fathers. The Syrians were also able through the cooperation with the Arab Muslims to retain their ecclesiastical dogma, the Antiochian See, their churches, monasteries, ecclesiastical inheritance and their liturgy.

The Position of the Syrians Toward the Islamic Conquest >From the above it becomes clear that the religious conflicts in the Christian church, the attempts of the Byzantine powers to force the issues of the council of Chalcedon upon the other churches by force, to throw its members in prison, to kill them, to ban them and to drive them out alienated the Syrian Christians. All these unchristian deeds only sowed hate and aversion in the hearts of the Syrians against the Byzantine powers. The Persian powers in their empire oppressed both West and East Syrians in general to force them under tyrannical policies and Zoroastrian beliefs. Therefore the Syrians under the Byzantine and Persian powers saw the Islamic conquerors as liberators and not as occupiers. The Syrians put great hope in them, not only because the Muslims liberated them from their religious trouble but also because they relieved the Syrians of the burdensome taxes that were placed on their backs. They said, “Praise be to God, who delivered us from the unjust Byzantines and who put us under the rule of the just Muslim Arabs.”

-Why true Christians (i.e., Catholics) dedicate Sunday specifically to God, rather than Saturday...-

Exodus 20:8-11- "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy."

In Exodus 20, we find the commandment to keep holy the Sabbath. In the Old Testament, Sabbath meant “rest” or “cessation” on the seventh day of the Jewish week – Saturday. A sizable number of Protestants argue that people are still bound by the commandment to set Saturday apart for God. They believe that Catholics break this commandment by recognizing, in accordance with the Tradition of the Church and the teaching of the New Testament, that the prerogatives of the Sabbath have been transferred to Sunday in the New Covenant. The following considerations should show any sincere person why Seventh-Day Adventists and Seventh-Day Baptists are wrong. God Himself, through the Church He established, transferred the prerogatives of the Sabbath to Sunday, in honor of the day on which Jesus rose again.

THE COMMANDMENT TO KEEP HOLY THE SABBATH IS DIFFERENT IN NATURE FROM THE OTHER COMMANDMENTS

Of all the 10 commandments, the one to keep holy the Sabbath is different in nature from the rest. This is a very important point. It’s different because it’s the only one of the Ten Commandments that pertains to the ceremonial, not the natural law. For instance, man knows in his heart that he should not murder, that he should not steal, etc. But the natural law itself doesn’t teach him that he must worship God on a particular day as opposed to another day. That must come from external revelation and precept.

In fact, keeping holy the Sabbath or Seventh Day only started after the Exodus. It wasn’t done before that or from the very beginning. It’s part of the ceremonial, not the natural law. Since it’s a commandment of the ceremonial law, not the natural law, God can change the day on which He is to be specifically honored. Protestants who contend that the Saturday Sabbath law remains in force do not follow other aspects of the Old Testament ceremonial law. They don’t consider circumcision or ritual sacrifices to be binding anymore, but they consider the ceremonial Sabbath law to be binding. This is both unscriptural and illogical.

Just as circumcision, the ritual sacrifices, and other parts of the ceremonial law have ceased with the coming of Christ, the ceremonial requirement to set Saturday apart for God has passed away. It has been replaced by God and His Church with the requirement to specifically honor Sunday.

THE APOSTLES AND THE EARLY CHURCH CELEBRATED SUNDAY, NOT SATURDAY

The Apostles clearly honored Sunday, not Saturday. We read that they met for the Eucharist and the breaking of bread on the first day of the week, Sunday, the day of the Lord’s Resurrection.

Acts 20:7- And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”

We see that the Christians came together to worship on Sunday. This day was set apart by the Apostles.

1 Corinthians 16:1-2- “Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also. On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him; that when I come, the collections be not then to be made.”

This next verse is particularly important.

Colossians 2:16-17- Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

Here we see St. Paul specifically teaching that the festival and ceremonial laws (including the observance of the Sabbath!) pertained to the Old Testament period and are no longer binding after the coming of Christ. How clear does it have to be?

GOD GAVE THE CHURCH THE AUTHORITY TO TRANSFER THE SABBATH TO SUNDAY IN HONOR OF HIS RESURRECTION

Matthew 16:18-19- “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 18:17-18- “And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

That’s why the early Christians met on Sunday (the Lord’s Day) to celebrate the Eucharist. That’s why the most ancient fathers, such as St. Ignatius of Antioch writing about 110 A.D., recognized that Sunday was the day, not Saturday.

St. Ignatius of Antioch , Epistle to the Magnesians, no. 9, 110 A.D.: “If then they who walked in ancient customs came to a new hope, no longer living for the Sabbath, but for the Lord’s Day, on which also our life sprang up through him and His death – though some deny Him – and by this mystery we received faith, and for this reason also we suffer…”

This is a clear proof that Seventh-Day Adventists and Seventh-Day Baptists are following a man-made perversion of Scripture which was foreign not only to the Apostles but to the most ancient Christians. Many other fathers could be quoted.

THERE’S MORE: GOD’S DAY OF REST IS CONNECTED WITH HIS CREATION;
HE RESTS AFTER HIS WORK OF CREATION IS FINISHED
THE RESURRECTION SIGNIFIES THE COMPLETION OF THE NEW CREATION,
AND THUS IT MARKS HIS NEW DAY OF REST
Genesis 2:1-2- “So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the furniture of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.”

We read that God’s rest is connected with His completion of work. God finished His work, and then He rested on the seventh day. But the entire creation was ruptured by the sin of Adam. That’s why Romans 8 teaches that all of creation was waiting in expectation for the Redemption of Christ. His Redemption would repair the creation that had been ruptured.

Romans 8:22-23- “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”

Christ’s Redemption is, therefore, a new creation. That’s why we read:

2 Corinthians 5:17- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Hebrews 9:11-12- “But Christ, being come an high priest of the good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hand, that is, not of this creation: Neither by the blood of goats, or of calves, but by his own blood, entered once into the holies, having obtained eternal redemption.”

Christ’s new work of creation – of repairing the creation that had been ruptured by Adam – was accomplished on the Cross and it culminated with His Resurrection. That’s why we find the interesting subtle identification of Jesus with the gardener. When Mary Magdalene saw the risen Lord on the day of His Resurrection, she mistook Him for the gardener. This true event was also meant to indicate that Jesus was in the new garden – the restored Garden of Eden (paradise) which had been previously forfeited by the sin of Adam.

John 20:15- “Jesus saith to her: Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, thinking it was the gardener, saith to him: Sir, if thou hast taken him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.”

Genesis 2:8- “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.”

Jesus’ Redemption and Resurrection restored paradise and repaired the garden that had been corrupted; for He is the new and greater Adam.

1 Corinthians 15:45- “And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [Christ] was made a quickening spirit.”

Romans 5:14- “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure [type] of him that was to come [Jesus].”

Romans 5:19- “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

Thus, it makes perfect sense that the Lord’s Day (Sunday, the day of His Resurrection) – which marked the end of His new work of creation – would become the new day of rest.

Peace be with you, Old Wine (Old Covenant teachings) in you, Old wine bags (still believers of the Law of Moses like the ignorant Jews, who JESUS had contention and trouble with). You will never be able to receive the New Wine (New Covenant Teachings and practices of a 'True faith with acts of true Repentance, loving GOD and loving others, with the promises of the 'Crown of Eternal Life') even though when you empty the Old Wine from within you. Since because you still remain as the Old Wine Bag, the New Wine, even if be put in you, will cause you to only swell and burst open resulting to, not only damage to the bag but also a waste of the New Wine.
LORD JESUS CHRIST already say and is written in the Gospel; "New Wine must be put into a New Wine Bag."
(People who have buried the Old Man and now a New Creation, like a little child ready to receive what is 'present', the promised MESSIAH is here and 'ahead', who can promise us Eternal Life)
JESUS did not remain and continue HIS time with the blind but only to those who can see and are like 'little child', who are ready and able to receive HIS Word from the FATHER, builder of the New Covenant for HIS church.

As for me, because on Sunday, our worship service is scheduled to take place. No questions asked, none answered. We are not Pagans, we are Lutherans, who believe in the truth. Worship everyday, my question is this, Why do people worship God only one day a week, and become like the heathen for the rest of the week?

Do you worship God ONLY on saturday, which saturday is it? Israel or your country, It maybe saturday in Israel and Sunday in others (different time zones) so they worship simultaneously.

Yep, you got it right, the Caholic Church changed the day of worship...

Who Made Sunday Holy?
“Written by the finger of God on two tables of stone, this Divine code (ten commandments) was received from the Almighty by Moses amid the thunders of Mount Sinai...Christ resumed these Commandments in the double precept of charity--love of God and of the neighbour; He proclaimed them as binding under the New Law in Matthew 19 and in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5)...The (Catholic) Church, on the other hand, after changing the day of rest from the Jewish Sabbath, or seventh day of the week, to the first, made the Third Commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be kept holy as the Lord’s Day...He (God) claims one day out of the seven as a memorial to Himself, and this must be kept holy...”The Catholic Encyclopaedia, vol. 4, “The Ten Commandments”, 1908 edition by Robert Appleton Company; and 1999 Online edition by Kevin Knight, Imprimatur, John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York.

“Question: How prove you that the church had power to command feasts and holydays?
“Answer: By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of and therefore they fondly contradict themselves by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same church.
“Question: Have you any other way of proving that the church has power to institute festivals of precept?
“Answer: Had she not such power, she could not a done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; -she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the seventh day of the week, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.” Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism On the Obedience Due to the Church, 3rd edition, Chapter 2, p. 174 (Imprimatur, John Cardinal McCloskey, Archbishop of New York).

“Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. ‘The day of the Lord’ was chosen, not from any direction noted in the Scriptures, but from the (Catholic) Church’s sense of its own power...People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy.” St. Catherine Church Sentinel, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995.

Note: Nto necessarily SDA, but a Sabbatarian at any rate.

Nowhere in the Bible is it stated that worship should be changed from Saturday to Sunday...Now the Church...instituted, by God’s authority, Sunday as the day of worship. This same Church, by the same divine authority, taught the doctrine of Purgatory long before the Bible was made. We have, therefore, the same authority for Purgatory as we have for Sunday.” Martin J. Scott, Things Catholics Are Asked About, 1927 edition, p. 136.

“Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
“Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd edition, 1957.

“Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day - Saturday - for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes. Did Christ change the day’? I answer no!”
“Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons.” James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, Md. (1877-1921), in a signed letter.

“Question. - How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holy days?
“Answer. - By the very act of changing Sabbath into Sunday which Protestants allow of; and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church.
“Question. - How prove you that?
“Answer. - Because by keeping Sunday, they acknowledge the Church’s power to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin: and by not keeping the rest by her commanded, they again deny, in fact, the same power.” An Abridgment of the Christian Doctrine, composed by Henry Tuberville, p. 58.

Some theologians have held that God likewise directly determined the Sunday as the day of worship in the New Law, that He Himself has explicitly substituted the Sunday for the Sabbath. But this theory is now entirely abandoned. It is now commonly held that God simply gave His Church the power to set aside whatever day or days she would deem suitable as Holy Days. The (Roman Catholic) Church chose Sunday, the first day of the week, and in the course of time added other days as holy days.” John Laux, A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies, 1936 edition, vol. 1, p. 51.

“Question. What warrant have you for keeping Sunday preferably to the ancient sabbath which was Saturday?
“Answer. We have for it the authority of the Catholic church and apostolic tradition.
“Question. Does the Scripture anywhere command the Sunday to be kept for the Sabbath?
“Answer. The Scripture commands us to hear the church (St.Matt.18:17; St. Luke 10:16), and to hold fast the traditions of the apostles. 2 Thess 2:15. But the Scripture does not in particular mention this change of the Sabbath.

“St John speaks of the Lord’s day (Rev 1:10) but he does not tell us what day of the week that was, much less does he tell us what day was to take the place of the Sabbath ordained in the commandments. St.Luke speaks of the disciples meeting together to break bread on the first day of the week. Acts 20:7. And St. Paul (1 Cor.16:2) orders that on the first day of the week the Corinthians should lay in store what they designated to bestow in charity on the faithful in Judea: but neither the one or the other tells us that this first day of the week was to be henceforth a day of worship, and the Christian Sabbath; so that truly the best authority we have for this ancient custom is the testimony of the church. And therefore those who pretend to be such religious observers of Sunday, whilst they take no notice of other festivals ordained by the same church authority, show that they act more by humor, than by religion; since Sundays and holidays all stand upon the same foundation, namely the ordinance of the (Roman Catholic) church.” Catholic Christian Instructed, 17th edition, p. 272-273.

Protestantism, in discarding the authority of the (Roman Catholic) Church, has no good reasons for its Sunday theory, and ought logically to keep Saturday as the Sabbath.” John Gilmary Shea, American Catholic Quarterly Review, January 1883.

The Catholic church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday...The Protestant World at its birth found the Christian Sabbath too strongly entrenched to run counter to its existence; it was therefore placed under the necessity of acquiescing in the arrangement, thus implying the (Catholic) Church’s right to change the day, for over three hundred years. The Christian Sabbath is therefore to this day, the acknowledged offspring of the Catholic Church as spouse of the Holy Ghost, without a word of remonstrance from the Protestant World.” James Cardinal Gibbons in the Catholic Mirror, September 23, 1983.

Note: In referring to the Christian Sabbath, this is a euphemism for Sunday.

You really ought to read more before you make comments like this, this is referring to gathering manna on the Sabbath. What does God say about a public meeting on the Sabbath...

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

It is a holy convocation. Now whatever a convocation is, God Almighty says here it is Holy, so what is a convocation...

convocation:

H4744
מקרא
miqrâ'
mik-raw'
From H7121; something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the palce); also a rehearsal: - assembly, calling, convocation, reading.
