So many people are ignorant of just how horrible Martin Luther was in regard to the Jews. Most don't want to even consider the VERY bad side of him because of the truly heroic effort to preach Salvation by Grace through Faith alone.

Here are his thoughts on the Jews, which echoed even to Adolph Hitler, as he partially used Luther as justification of Jewish persecution.

VERY small wonder Jews are skeptical of Christians:

The Jews, he alleges, look for biblical truth “under the sow’s tail,” that is, their interpretation of the Bible comes from looking in a pig’s anus. . . . They defame Christian belief, “impelled by the Devil, to fall into this like filthy sows fall into the trough.” If they see a Jew, Christians should “throw sow dung at him . . . and chase him away.” Luther calls for the secular authorities to burn down all the synagogues and schools, and “what won’t burn should be covered over with earth, so that not a stone or piece of slag of it should be seen for all eternity.” The Jews’ houses should be destroyed and they should be put under one roof, like the gypsies. The Talmud and prayer books should be destroyed and Jewish teachers banned. They should be prevented from using the roads, usury banned, and the Jews forced to undertake physical labor instead. Assets from moneylending should be confiscated and used to support Jews who converted. This was a program of complete cultural eradication. And Luther meant it. . . .

Luther’s anti-Semitism then reached a crescendo of physical revulsion. He imagined Jews kissing and praying to the Devil’s excrement: “the Devil has emptied . . . his stomach again and again, that is a true relic, which the Jews, and those who want to be a Jew, kiss, eat, drink, and worship.” In a kind of inverted baptismal exorcism, the Devil fills the mouth, nose, and ears of the Jews with filth: “He stuffs and squirts them so full, that it overflows and swims out of every place, pure Devil’s filth, yes, it tastes so good to their hearts, and they guzzle it like sows.” Whipping himself into a frenzy, Luther invokes Judas, the ultimate Jew: “When Judas hanged himself, so that his guts ripped, and as happens to those who are hanged, his bladder burst, then the Jews had their golden cans and silver bowls ready, to catch the Judas piss (as one calls it) with the other relics, and afterwards together they ate the shit and drank, from which they got such sharp sight that they are able to see such complex glosses in Scripture.”

This summary provides only a sampling of Luther’s hate-filled vitriol. Multiple passages in his 1543 writings against the Jews are just as abhorrent.

Wow, I had read a few excerpts of what he'd said but that is something else!! No doubt he held hatred in his heart toward them. I realize he was angered when they refused to convert but, wow, certainly not showing the love of God there. And other church fathers preached the same. So yes, no wonder some just do not trust Christians. Who could blame them?

Actually the Catholics were very much against Jews, but many of the early church were also. Martin Luther said horrible things against the Jews. So I do see why there are bad feelings where Christians are concerned when it comes to the Jews.
Amen, I believe it was martin luthers book which hitler read, and did alot of the things Luther himself should be done to them, and of corse Luther got his antisemitism belief from the roman church.

Early Christians were put to death by people who practiced Judaism.

I'm sure there would be some hard feelings for awhile over this.

Do you just say "Its ok, you were just stubborn and stupid, I didn't really want my family and friends around anyway"?

I doubt it. Most likely they will teach very harsh things about those who practice Judaism.

But the world isn't really worried about Judaism. Its Christianity that they don't like. That's why they try to make the Jews out to be the victims in this scenario. Everyone feels sorry for the victims.

Early Christians vilified Judaism in a bid to gain more converts... lol Early Christians were in a war against Judaism for their lives and for their religion. Its still going on...

Sorry, I disagree on this one. The world likes neither Christianity nor Judaism, but I'd say their hatred of Jews is far worse. Just look at the ME. And anti-Semitism is on the rise. It was the Christian, so called, Germans who helped carry out the Holocaust. The Catholics had an absolute hatred for Jews and were the first to make them wear identification to separate them and put them in ghettos. So there is ample reason for Jews not to trust Christians. Not to mention the Crusades where Jews were also killed.

Exactly. The Catholics had blood libels on them, accused them of all sorts of false crimes. And as I said, they were the first to separate the Jews and persecute them because of their beliefs. A grave pity that some of the church fathers had such hatred in their hearts.

Alot of bad stuff happened then,

This is also where replacement theology got its root. And the arrogance that we wre somehow better than the jews ever were. Yet when you look at the history of the church (proper not true church) we made the same mistakes. Had the same arrogance, and became just like the Jews of the OT In fact the jews had their law. We have our sacraments.. but same theological bases We make ourselves right with God through a principle of following instructions given by God to each group (one set for the jews, another set for the church)

Their excuse was that the jews crucified our savior. As if they excused them

They failed to realise. Our savior was crucified because of ALL of us/ Not just the jews..their self righteousness was pitiful

True! I knew about Replacement Theology a bit but the pastor of the church I attend now brought it out much more and how it came down through history. Under different names, it still exists today. Romans warns us not to be arrogant. Seems we never learn. smh

Oh I know! It's alarming! And history is totally retold. And the Jews today are fakes. Yes, I've seen hatred or anger in certain threads but none so bad as the subject of the Jews and replacement theology. I expect they will find this thread and then here we go!

Yes, it does get pretty heated. But not like this subject. This subject gets down to pure hatred. I had a chat with one of the mods here a couple yrs ago when someone here denied the Holocaust even happened. People have to be either entirely stupid, or full of hate to deny the Holocaust happened. Usually I find it's the latter, such a pity.

Yes the victimization.

Indeed, it is the Christians that are and will be even more so targeted in due course by all other religions.

While there may be misrepresentations regarding those "outlandish acts", and many false accusations, "there is no questions that anti-Semitism was a fact of life in all of Europe for a very long time". Every since the Diaspora or Dispersion of the Jews in 70 AD.

"As Christianity spread in the first centuries CE, most Jews continued to reject that religion. As a consequence, by the 4th century, Christians tended to regard Jews as an alien people who, because of their repudiation of Christ and his church, were condemned to perpetual migration..." Encyclopedia Britannica
Actually that is not true, this is the whole victim mentality that has been perpetuated throughout the years.

The German Empire that was created in 1870 was never hostile to Jews. Contrary. When Germany annexed Elssas and Lothringen the Jews were the only one who celebrated.

Jews had been allowed to live in Poland for centuries and lived quite peaceable within their own communities.

Hungary as well accepted Jews as long as they learned to speak Hungarian.

No, it's not going to be the Christians but the Jews who will become more targeted as this age comes to a close.

Jews had been expelled from countries all over the world. Whatever peace they lived in was destroyed when Hitler came to power. They were persecuted by the Catholics and Protestants. They were restricted, accused of false crimes, murdered for it. They certainly were victims and Hitler made sure to carry out that hatred to the fullest.

I think it's a good bet that BOTH will. It's just that it may appear Christians are persecuted less because the apostate church will LOOK like Christians, and have throughout history. But THEY continue to conform to this world, especially with their anti semitism. But WE know them by their fruit.

As I am able to perceive it...It already does.

The facts do not bear this out.
