The feast of Tabernacles was a Fall feast giving thanks for the harvest, symbolic of the harvest of saints at the second coming. Pilgrims were Christians who knew all scripture, many think they knew the connection and was the reason for establishing this feast.
That's very possible and something I hadn't considered.

God took the yearly material harvest seasons in ancient Israel
as the picture of the spiritual harvest of souls.

In the Holy Land there are two annual harvests.
The first is the spring grain harvest.

Pentecost pictures the early harvest, first fruits.
at Christs second comming.

Second comes the main harvest.

the festival of Tabernacles or “feast of ingathering.”
(Exodus 34:22). (Leviticus 23:42-43).

It Pictures the Millennium
the feast was seven days long

In the 12th and 13th chapters of Zechariah we have a picture
of Christ returning and the reconciliation of the world commencing.

Here the meaning of the festivals of Trumpets
when the Kingdom of God is ruling over mortal nations,
the people will be only heirs to the Kingdom.

It is the time when “living waters”—salvation,
the Holy Spirit—“shall go out from Jerusalem”

This shall be the punishment … of all nations
that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles” (verses 18-19).
How could they keep a festival that was abolished at the cross?

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were merely heirs when they dwelled on Earth (Hebrews 11:9).

While heirs they dwelled in tabernacles, or booths, sojourning in the land of promise

God says of Ephraim (a type of all Israel) that they will “dwell in tabernacles,
as in the days of the solemn feast” (Hosea 12:9).

the eight day,a separate feast and seventh and last feast of Gods

Jesus preached on this day
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Matthew 10:15,Ezekiel 16:53-55,Ezekiel 37, verse 14,Revelation 20:12

go back to the bible and see what did Jesus preach on each of Gods Holy convocations days.

the shadows where not all completed at the cross,

passover was just the start of Gods plan of mans redemption.

All was fulfilled at the Cross and the resurrection of our Lord. If it were not so, He was lying when He said He came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets and said, "Consummatum Est".

so the day of pentecost, one of Gods Holy convocations,

held after Christ died, had nothing to do with Gods plan for salvation?

also i never mentioned law

Here is a brief description of some of the pagan festival rituals in Tertullian's day around 195 AD.

Moreover, we must inquire likewise touching schoolmasters; nor only of them, but also all other professors of literature. Nay, on the contrary, we must not doubt that they are in affinity with manifold idolatry: first, in that it is necessary for them to preach the gods of the nations, to express their names, genealogies, honourable distinctions, all and singular; and further, to observe the solemnities and festivals of the same, as of them by whose means they compute their revenues. What schoolmaster, without a table of the seven idols, will yet frequent the Quinquatria? The very first payment of every pupil he consecrates both to the honour and to the name of Minerva; so that, even though he be not said “to eat of that which is sacrificed to idols” nominally (not being dedicated to any particular idol), he is shunned as an idolater. What less of defilement does he recur on that ground, than a business brings which, both nominally and virtually, is consecrated publicly to an idol? The Minervalia are as much Minerva’s, as the Saturnalia Saturn’s; Saturn’s, which must necessarily be celebrated even by little slaves at the time of the Saturnalia. New-year’s gifts likewise must be caught at, and the Septimontium kept; and all the presents of Midwinter and the feast of Dear Kinsmanship must be exacted; the schools must be wreathed with flowers; the flamens’ wives and the µdiles sacrifice; the school is honoured on the appointed holy-days. The same thing takes place on an idol’s birthday; every pomp of the devil is frequented.

My mom taught second grade in a Christian school my dad was a youth group leader and now a pastor. We celebrated the birth of Jesus our Savior. If it was totally wrong then I am pretty sure that they wouldn't have done that....and uh oh they took us trick or treating too and we celebrated Easter and we had birthdays! If you don't wanna do that stuff fine but don't point a condemning finger at those who do. Huh..the only cult I know that does truly condemn Christians who celebrate those things....JW's

I don't really care what "they" did in the past or if "they" did it on December the 25, or if "they" want to be paganish. I celebrate Christmas for the Christ, Son of God, Savior of mankind, King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Not condemning anyone, just pointing out facts.

Funny how many of these 'anti-holiday' people still participate in other pagan practices, yet seem to have no problem with those. I guess it's a 'pick and choose' kind of thing.

I sure bet you don't argue about the days off work do ya. I worked with two JW's and they condemned all the holidays but when asked to work on those days know what the response was....it's a holiday I'm not gonna work on a holiday. Way to stand behind your belief huh?

But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
Luke14:13-14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

Actually, I work many holidays because I don't really celebrate them. I work for myself so when the work is there I've got to get it done.

I was referring to God's feast days. Passover, Pentecost, Rosh Hashanah, etc.

I'm going to start a Thread...

'' Why christians shouldn't look up at the stars''.
With the argument , 'that by doing so, we are acknowledging the Zodiac'.

-same logic

WHERE IS THE HALLOWEEN THREAD?!!

We are supposed to be bashing Halloween right now. Come on people - witches, goblins, ghosts, ancient pagan rituals... I haven't seen anything even resembling a "We Hate Halloween" or "Halloween is of the devil" thread yet. We jumped clear over to Christmas-hating, while Halloween bashing is sadly neglected. What a shame...

Forget this, it's just plain wrong. I WANT MY HALLOWEEN BASHING THREAD! NOW!!!

I also want my flying car. Because all the science fiction authors told us by now we would have them. It's 2014, come on people! I want my flying car now!
