well if they had a personal one one one relationship with him, they wouldn't be confused or led astray.
Problem is everyone claims to have one, everyone claims to be led by the Spirit, everyone claims "Scripture alone", everyone claims "obey the word" etc. etc.

So everyone is right in their own minds. Thats the problem and thats why denominations exist. I wish Roman Catholicism would resemble the NT teachings even a bit, one thing they got down is centralized leadership which gets rid of this issue we got in protestand land where everyone is their own pope.

Why doesn’t God just tell us?

OK. First, there is only ONE church, the body of Christ, of whom the Holy Spirit at the moment of repentance and conversion baptizes a believer into. Denominations exist because of interpretational bias. Attend Church for fellowship and learning, but be aware, only the Word, righty divided is truth. We belong to Christ, and our denominational identity is, A CHRISTIAN, (belonging to him who died for me). When we wear a denominal identity, we proclaim all that "religion" proclaims in it's doctrine, and are a part and member of it. Jesus is the head of the body, keep ones' focus on that, and not on some other identity that is man made.
"Where two or three are gathered in my name I will be there." So Jesus is present at many denominational churches every time we meet.

Why can’t God just tell us what the truth is. What does that say about him when he lets people flounder and wondering constantly?
God has already told you the truth, and He does not expect anyone to flounder around. It is all there in the Holy Bible.

Wow, it’s all right there in the Bible? Are you not aware of denominations that read the same Bible that completely contradict each other in their teaching?

Do you not have any thoughts as to why Denominations exist?
Why do different religions exist?

Why are there so many christian denominations?

Answer: Perhaps as one comes closer to the truth, more deceptions are laid before him. Too many deceptions and pit falls exist for one to be able to navigate through correctly. This is why one must be saved.

So who's asking you to go to the denominations? Go to the Bible directly.

Or, it could be that there are so many contradictions in the Bible and people cherry pick what makes them feel good and lines up with what they already believe or what their group believes so they can Continue to be a part.

He did.

But people can't handle the truth.
Are you saying that he wrote it all down but didn’t give us the ability to understand it? Or are you saying that people are unwilling to abide by what it says? So God convince them to follow him and has that power but he won’t give them the ability to understand what he wrote down?

Denominations exist because man cannot keep his stinking feet out of the pure water of the word.

Ezekiel 34:18-19
Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet? And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.

Have you identified all the contradictions?

Or is that just what you've heard?
Actually, that was a poor argument and please forgive me for saying that. What I really meant to say is that God went to the trouble of giving us what you ate calling his word but doesn’t give us the ability to understand it so the people after reading it and studying get completely opposite understandings of primary and basic teachings. There is anything but unity in the Christian church now even among scholars and people that sincerely study. That must mean something to you. Could it be that it’s really not inspired and men with good intentions wrote down what they thought was right?

No.

You will understand the word when you approach it with a humble and an obedient ear.

Proverbs 2:6
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

"STUDY, to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, righty dividing the word of truth". 2Tim. 2:15. There lies the problem. People want the quick answer and will go to commentaries, or church teaching, or personal interpretations. Only the word of God is true and if a person arises early, (as a sacrifice before God for proper knowledge), he can avoid many doctrinal errors. Here is an excellent instruction for obtaining right doctrine found in Proverbs 2:1-10. Read it , and arise early to meet with the Lord. Proverbs 8:17, "I love them that love me and those that seek me early shall find me".

Denominations happen when people latch on to a particular doctrine and then attempt to conform all scripture to it.

They fail to harmonize scripture in this process, creating a trail of doctrinal error. Eventually the trail can lead so far from the truth that it is unrecognizable as sound doctrine.

Take denominational loyalty, pride, and ego and the result is someone who is unteachable, fully convinced their group is right and everyone else is wrong, even after having been shown their misinterpretations. This mindset is all too common, but that's how it is.

God finds pleasure in watching us try to figure it out and coming to our own belief of various doctrines.
