Was internet porn mentioned in the Bible? Shouldn't that be in the updated list of commandments?
It is a sin to look lustfully on another person: But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matt 5:28 RSV

So 'truth' should be determined by cultural evolution and change? I always thought God was a God of absolutes. That truth is truth, regardless of who, what, when, where or why. This god you're talking about, making revisions of the bible to suit our culture is a god that changes, is no absolute, and holds no truths. That is no god at all. I'll keep my God who isn't told what to do by His creation, but rather rules over His creation.

It's been about 2,000 years and a lot has changed since then. Totally different world we live in now. Don't you think it's time for a version 2?
You know what time it is? It's time for a new revelation from God! :D

The Qur'an came 600 years after the New Testament was written - Mohammed had the right idea.

But that's all old too! Tell you what, here's what we need to get rid of:

1. Anything against homosexuality. Throw that out, all the verses that say it is wrong.
2. Anything that is offensive - you don't really think Jesus was that intolerant, do you?
3. Switch "God is love" to "love is God." That way, everyone's happy!
4. Have no mention of Jesus being God. We need to help God get those Jewish people and Muslims into the faith *somehow*, you know, and the deity of Jesus certainly isn't helping the situation.
5. Finally, don't have a New or Old Testament - just have one Testament called "The Best Testament." Then we won't have to explain the two different gods presented in the two different testaments - the mean one in the old, and the nice one in the new (you know, the one where Jesus talks about hell).

I think that this will help God out a lot - I mean, really, do you think that with God all things are possible?

.... ; )

What we have now is perfect.

Yes, but there are many contradictions in the bible.

EX 20:14 God prohibits adultery.
HO 1:2 God instructs Hosea to "take a wife of harlotry."

Fact is, with the technology boom ranging from digital devices to nuclear weapons, the world and it's people are NOT the same as 2000 years ago.
People are more intelligent and evolved.
Actually rtb, there are no contradictions in the REAL Bible. The King James Holy Bible that is, it has no contradictions at all.

And I don't think people are more intelligent now. I believe people are less intelligent now because of the way our society is declining morally. Lets see what the Bible says about lost people in the last days.

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. - 2 Timothy 3:13

If Yahweh tells you to do something then you have permission and must do it, if you do something out of lust then you are acting on behalf of yourself.

We have not evolved into anything, we have been deceived.

What is different from our needs? Water, food, Shelter... Yahweh provides everything. All humans have been doing is believing they are more intelligent.

Yahweh is watching us all chase the wind, until his harvest.

If you want salvation you can have it, not on your terms, but on Yahweh's terms which is to listen to him through his son Yeshua.

Don't entertain the thought that we are any better off now than when time began.

The only problem men are trying to fix, is problem men created by not following Yahweh.

The Bible tells you everything that will happen, but too much ego, arrogance etc is in the air to realise it.

Only by Yahweh's grace that we are still here, Yeshua was the sacrifice for our sin. But you have to take the risen bread offered, you notice how the Jewish people would eat unleavened bread.

Yeshua is the risen bread of life for all that seek.

It was Passover when Yeshua was crucified and the bread of life that rose.

Yeshua is the only salvation on offer, you can ask for a dummies guide to life to suit your new "intelligence".

But that will come from some "intelligent" man wanting to take your money.

There is only one way for Salvation, Yeshua.

One Almighty Yahweh, One loving Saviour, One Holy spirit to comfort us, to guide us.

And they only have your interest of eternal life in mind.

There is nothing to change, for the Bible addresses the sin nature of man,and how to correct that, which is the same problem throughout history.

That is the theme of the Bible, get rid of your sin problem, and be right with God,so that problem is always the same with the world, and how do you change that except for your self, and God is reaching out to people with His word, which testifies that God is true.

God said produce your cause, bring forth your strong reasons, prove your religion is true by showing the future from the beginning, but God said no man will be able to answer you a word, proving that the Holy Bible is the word of God.

God told us the end from the beginning, and told us the whole history of mankind, and at the end times on a world wide level, what the whole world would be doing, and how do you change that for it is the history of mankind.

That is basically the Bible, the history of mankind, and giving us instructions on how to get rid of our sin,and act right,to dwell with God in heaven.

There is nothing to change, for how do you change that.

Unless someone wants God to change the Bible and say, live how you want, and you are alright with Me,you know, kind of change the Bible according to what they want to hear and live how they want, and still be right with God,especially since the Bible says that at the last days, that they will be lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,and will not want the truth of the Bible, but according to their own lusts will want to hear it their way,and the last generation that will be more selfish and arrogant, and heaping money to themselves, than any other generation before it,that will be clean in their own eyes but not washed from their filthiness.

I cannot see what anybody would want changed, except for God to be relaxed in His holiness standards for mankind, which then the beast system would not appear to be as offensive, and would never be put down.

Do these people want God to be relaxed in His holiness standards,so they can live on earth and prosper in the beast system, that says man is god himself, loving that power, and God allowing the beast system to always go on.

I'm kind of joking, but I do not understand what they want changed,or think should be changed.

Ever heard of these places Sodom and Gomorrah? Places so infested with sin that God supernaturally destroyed them, and even turned a human into a pillar of salt just for looking back at them being destroyed. When's the last time you saw God supernaturally destroy a city because of its evilness?
Or, how about this little incident called 'The Flood'? Where God wipes out almost all of humanity. Why? Because humanity had grown so evil that God felt it best to cleanse the earth. Whens the last time you saw God cleanse the earth in 'modern' times?
Seems to be that mankind was so evil, before we even reached the timing of the NT that God had to step in. In a very obvious way.

Lets see, the Egyptians worked the Jews as slaves. The Nazi's tried to commit brutal genocide of the Jews.

Romans used to use bloody violent death as a form of entrainment among the masses. Gladiator fights, feeding people to lions, crucifixions, and who knows what other attrocities all for the amusement of the general public. In modern times we put two guys, of similar skill and build in a ring, both who choose to be there and watch them punch each other with gloves on.

So, no, i'm afraid things aren't worse now. Lust is STILL lust. Whether its in person, online, or in a magazine. Violence is still violence. Hatred still hatred. The intent of the heart is the same. Changing the mediums of sin doesn't change the heart of the sinner. Changing how a person sins doesn't change the fact that he's still sinning.

RTB: You are not a believer...not a Born again Believer, anyway. Your status says so clearly. So...rather than ATTEMPT to understand a book written TO BELIEVERS, why not ask JESUS to make Himself known to you so that you CAN gains the spiritual wisdom and knowledged and revelation that you NEED to be able to understand the Bible. ASK HIM to reveal HIMSELF to you. Once you come to know Him in a personal relationship sort of way, the Bible, that has NO CONTRADICTIONS, will make much more sense to you.

scripture says " I am the Lord your God, I change not", He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. God's stature or laws NEVER change. everything that is going on today was going on 2000 years ago, and God still is saying "be ye HOLY, for I am HOLY". sisn is sin and it all falls under DISOBEDIANCE. and we all know there are consequences for being disobediant. why should there be an updated version when God said He changes NOT!!!!!!!

people are looking of ways to continue in sin. rest assure God is not pleased. how can you update this, "THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, AND THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE" , u can't update that because it will NEVER CHANGE, just like God's word will NEVER CHANGE.

The nature of man has not changed. Neither has the nature of God changed. There's nothing new under the sun.

Or as it is written:

...If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (Luke 16:31).

Mal 3:6For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Ecc 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

What need is there for an update? Just because man repackaged the same old sins doesn’t mean God need’s to repackage the bible. One still needs to be born again if they want salvation. Regardless of our location on the timeline of history (pre or post crucifixion) that has not changed, nor will it.

Oh wait, this is a serious post? Why in the world would you change the Bible? To make it more "relevant"?

If that's the case, then what I said above wasn't sarcastic I guess.

God inspired the men who wrote the scriptures in the bible. God changes not, Malachi 3:6
