Thanks. My point was that if Jesus had went to hell and preached to the people there, wouldn't that mean that there is a hell, since this person apparently doesn't believe in such a place.
1, Gehenna: a garbage dump outside Jerusalem, where fires continually burned refuse.
2. Sheol: The grave
3. Hades: A hidden place
4. Tartarus: An subterranean place where the "heroes" that Homer wrote about
None of these things on their own suggest "Hell" - but combined, you get a subterranean place, unseen by anyone, burning with fire non stop. This is what the translators suggested, it is not true. Anyplace in the Bible that you find the word "hell" , you are actually seeing one of these other words.
The word itself "Hell" is of old anglo -saxon origin. Hell or Helle, which the original meaning of is "Hidden place",
Though it is time consuming, one , using a concordance , can find each and every one of these instances where the word "Hell" is used, to mean something else.
I myself, took the time to look up each and everyone of them. I will warn you in advance, this will take you quite a bit of time, but I do not want anyone to take what I say as truth, prove it wrong, and it will take you longer than you want it to, but I want you to spend the time to do it, for if you do not, you may always question it.
