I only hope I did it with enough vigor and chutzpah. Still working on that
Work harder....but exercise caution, as I do so easily succumb to flatteries such as that which you have so kindly rendered.......

No visor does become black villainy so well as soft and tender flattery.

Why thank you.......
I had a great teacher in @TheDivineWatermark

Truth be told, the rebuttals (the few there are!) are lacking vigor and chutzpah. This has to be said.
You can blow your horn all you like. Reminds me of all those others who make such a ballyhoo about
how many decades they have studied and then they refuse to acknowledge plain word meanings while
they complain about others "spiritualizing" things. Dead means alive they say. Asleep is a metaphor for
watchful wakeful awareness they say. Utterly destroy does not mean utterly destroy, they say. Ho hum.
Front to back, over and over and over again, the wages of sin is given as death, more specifically the
second death, and those whose names are not written in the Lamb's book of life do not attain to life
ever after as you have been deceived into believing. How truly amazing it is the number of Christians
who unwittingly repeat the lie of Satan at the heart of the fall of man and corruption of all creation.

Truth be told, most people would not be satisfied with ANY rebuttal that opposes their view, no matter how much "vigor and chutzpah" it has. This too has to be said. :)
But no, you are mistaken, this is not true at all.
An exquisitely written and meticulously researched rebuttal from @TheDivineWatermark is very frequently INTENSELY satisfying.

Yours.....not so much.....:sneaky:

Boy, you're really buttering him up, linking to his name so much. I'm glad you like his posts. I do too, many of them.

they are the 2 most important figures representing the law and prophets besides Jesus.

Which John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah, and born of woman there is not a greater than John the Baptist besides Jesus.
Then John is greater than Elijah - and even Elisha had a double portion of the spirit of Elijah so doesn't that make him a greater prophet too? And Isaiah & Ezekiel wrote more, and more about the Salvation to come. So why aren't they greater?

Many times it's just been flatly stated that Elijah because Elijah is the greatest and he represents prophecy, but i just don't see what qualifies that.

It's like someone noticed that Moses was the intermediary that gave the law, and Elijah was a prophet, so oh! That must be the entire purpose they are just symbols. And since they are just symbols they must be the very best symbols.

To me this is a very unsatisfactory explanation of why exactly these two are here and no one else.

They were there to tell Jesus about his departure from Jerusalem. This would happen at his crucifixion, departure into paradise, and ascension into Heaven.
More likely Jesus was telling them about it.
Jesus is not ignorant. He had been telling His disciples about these things for quite a while before the transfiguration.

Moses represents the law, and Elijah the prophets.

The Bible speaks of 2 beings standing before the LORD of all the Earth which they are probably Moses and Elijah for they are the 2 most important figures representing the law and prophets besides Jesus.

Which John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah, and born of woman there is not a greater than John the Baptist besides Jesus.

Which the Catholic Church gives reverence to Mary but John the Baptist is considered greater than her so where is his reverence.

It is obvious when the Roman Empire embraced Christianity that they did not get rid of their pagan and occult ways but held on to them, and it became their foundation for interpreting scriptures and pagans have a female deity so they have one.

Joseph Smith had a belief that was not part of the Bible and it became his foundation of the interpreting of scriptures the Mormon church.

Same as the seriously flawed churches, Scientology, Christian Science, which are probably forerunners to the new age movement that will eventually deceive the world to follow the New Age Christ and they will stop the preaching of the Gospel, and the belief in a God, on a world wide scale, and then God will end sin on Earth.

They are probably the 2 witnesses that will witness to Israel to turn them to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

That is probably why they were at the transfiguration because they are the 2 candlesticks that stand before the LORD of all the Earth.
Was Eden on earth? If Moses represents the Law, and Elijah represents the Prophets, where are they in the garden? Also, where are the two candle sticks?

In the garden of Eden the two trees are the Two Witnesses spoken of in zechariah 4.The tree of knowledge of good and evil is the water, and the tree of life is the blood.
Right in the garden of Eden is the spirit, water, and the blood, and the two candle sticks are also present.Adam and Eve are the Two candle sticks in the garden.

The water and the blood stood before the Lord of all the earth before any of the Prophets were birthed.

Luke 11:50-51 suggests Abel is the first prophet and Galatians 3:17 ((as well as Romans 5:13 & frankly the whole of Exodus)) says the Law wasn't given until Moses.

I think not.....

[in the following passage, where "the world" perished G622 [including the ppl in it, except Noah & crew], but where Noah & crew continued to live on after the flood judgment came upon the world, and they went on to "fill the earth"]

2 Pet 3:6 -
Whereby G1223 G3739 the world G2889 that then was, G5119 being overflowed G2626 with water, G5204 perished G622:

[note: the ones who "perished [G622]" in the flood judgment, are part of "the dead [/unsaved of all time periods]" who will be "DELIVERED UP" at the point in time of the "GWTj" to experience the final carrying out of the sentence (aka the SECOND of the TWO "PUNISH" words in Isaiah 24:21-22[23], being in v.22b (the LATER "GWTj" time-slot), which is SEPARATED BY "TIME" from that of the FIRST of these TWO "PUNISH" words (<--at His Second Coming to the earth time-slot)]; At the GWTj time-slot of the CHRONOLOGY, the "lake of fire" is "unto the ages [plural] of the ages [plural]"... never-ending / forever... (there's no "separation [/death]" out of it--nothing "recovering" occurring FOLLOWING this point; and no REVERSAL of the "sentence" previously given and experienced up to this point)]

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention, death is not punishment, they say. Punishment is
not punishment if it does not go on forever and ever, they say. The ridiculous
things people say! Such as, man is immortal, as you believe, whereas Scripture
teaches the exact opposite, which you do not admit. God alone is immortal.
Life ever after is attained by grace through faith in the shed righteous blood of Christ.

Proverbs 10:25~ When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

Count to 100. Usually I recommend to 10 but it seems greater numerological exercise would be helpful.

It is not what "people say" that matters. It is what Jesus says in His Word.

Riddle me this: why did God not simply "annihilate" fallen angels and Adam instantaneously when they sinned?
And why the extraordinary efforts to redeem Adam from death?
And why construct an eternal lake of fire and temporary Tartarus?
And what is the account of rich man and Lazarus portraying?

Luk 16:23
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

And why does Jesus constantly warn us to fear God's wrath rather than merely SUPPOSED death/annihilation?
Why is God going through this supposed unnecessary trouble and effort? Why fear the second death at all if it is only annihilation?
Why not leave supposedly dead people to rest in peace once and for all?

Luk 12:5
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Luk 13:2
And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
Luk 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
