'Has passed out of death into life' is in the perfect tense. Once done with continuing results.
Has not "passed" unconditionally but passed conditionally upon a continued hearing and believing.

You are suggesting one can quit hearing and believing and be saved anyway...not possible.

Again, 'passed ' is in the perfect tense indicating the reason why we love the brethren. Some take this wrongly to mean if we love the brethren then we pass from death unto life.
who is "the brethren"?

Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Passed for they have a conditional present tense love.

Again, you suggest one cab quit loving his brethren and be saved anyway.

No, from what I can tell, he's merely suggesting life is contingent on passing from death, not instrumentally on the loving of others.

So we're clear, are you suggesting the instrument of your salvation is loving your brethren?

This is where you live in the fairy land of hypotheticals. When one has passed out of death into life they are born again with a new nature and will not dwell in hate.

1 Jn 3:4 "We know that we have passed from death unto life" Why? "because we love the brethren."

John warns them "He that loveth not his brother abideth in death"

So the Christian can become lost for not loving the brethren for he that loveth not his brethren abides in death.

One does not pass from death to life unconditionally but he must have and maintain a present tense hearing and believing to remain 'passed'.

You have got to be one of the most spiritually blind people I have ever seen.......

Someone saved will love the brethern
Someone not saved will not love the brethern

NO WHERE does it imply someone lost their salvation and then started hating his brethern.....

You take the cake for sure dude!

He must conditionally love (present tense) the brethren to remain saved for if he quits loving the brethren he then abides (present tense) in death.

Again your heretical stance adds words......i do not see the word conditionally anywhere in the text....

We know we are saved because we love the brethern
A lost man will not love the brethern....

NO WHERE does it say a condition to gain or keep salvation is based upon loving the brethern, but rather we can know we are saved by our love for the brethern....wake up and set aside your coc doctrine and smell the truth for once in your life!

One did not pass from death to life for no reason at all but because he loves (present tense) the brethren.

No passing without loving so one must conditionally love to pass. John clearly made loving a condition for one to pass.

You cannot get one to pass from death to life WITHOUT loving because John made loving is a necessity.

The reason loving is a condition for if one quits loving he then is abiding in death.

One chooses of his own free will to love and he can choose of his own free will to quit.

Elin said:
The spirit raised from spiritual death (no Holy Spirit life) by eternal life in the rebirth by the Holy Spirit,
does not die again because eternal life is immortal.
What does this have to do with Jn 5:24?

John 5:24 shows obtaining the promise of eternal life is CONDITIONAL upon a sustained hearing and believing. And since it is obtained CONDITIONALLY it can be lost CONDITIONALLY. Therefore if one quits hearing and believing he will for certain spiritually die again.
The eternal life received through grace by faith does not exist apart from, nor outside, spirits,
any more than human life exists apart from or outside humans.

Eternal life is not some kind of object hanging out there that we move in and out of,
just as human life is not some kind of object hanging out there which a person moves in and out of.

Eternal life is Holy Spirit life within one's personal spirit reborn (raised) from spiritual death.
That life is immortal and does not die,
and if it simply departed from spirits who have received it,
where would it go since it can exist only in spirits,
as human life can exist only in humans?

Not only is your understanding of eternal life contra Biblical, it doesn't even make sense.

Please take note of words such as 'if', or 'unless'...

Hebrews 10:26,27 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, then there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.”
If we go on sinning. (you said to pay attention to the if statement)

How can someone who has faith in Christ, and has been made a new creature go on sinning? John said in his 1st epistle that those who go on sinning, has never seen God, nor have they known him.

So how could these people have ever been saved? let alone lose something they never had?

maybe some people need to study context and meanings of some verses before they try to throw them around trying to prove their point.

What you are saying is that you have eternal life based upon what you have done and are continuing to do.
Its all about your strength and rightiousness.
Lots of luck with that testimony when you stand before Jesus.

he needs to puff himself up. He has not been humbled yet.

Te perfect tense means nothing to him.

Your very fist scripture is out of context and has nothing at all to do with biblical salvation, but rather is directed at those who forsake the assembling together with God's people.......if you cannot even understand the context of the first scripture tells me you are probably twisting the rest as well.....

The bible teaches eternal security and that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be renewed unto salvation IF you could loose it.....so tell me what does ETERNAL, EVERLASTING, FOREVER mean.......?
Dcon, my friend, I disagree. It has EVERYTHING to do with Biblical salvation.

Eternal life is a promise, 1 Jn 2:25 and having this promise is dependent upon one meeting the conditions God has placed upon it. The bible does not teach God gives eternal life UNconditionally. If one quits meeting the conditions he loses the promise. 1 Jn 3:24 where does John say the Christian can know UNCONDITIONALLY he has passed from death unto life? He doesn't.

God, (not me) has made salvation conditional upon what you do and continue to do.

Jn 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Cannot be saved unless you have a present tense hearing and believing. So if one quits hearing and believing he no longer 'hath everlasting life'. God did not promise everlasting life unconditionally whether you hear and believe or not.

You come up with some really inane things. How does on un-hear? Can you un-ring a bell? Jehovah God has declared that His word does not return to Him void but always accomplishes that to which He has purposed it.

The Holy Spirit acting through grace and upon the word of God creates the faith necessary for a man to be convicted of his sin, of Christ's righteousness, and Gods judgment on sin. When you have been confronted by God through the power of His Holy Spirit you will never be the same for the experience. Paul found that out on the road to Emmaus.

Time to check what you got. If you are not the new creature God said you would be then you have an issue.
