That surely isnt the mindset of a berean
Funny. And all this time I thought you were an OEC. Not by your own definition of the differences --
Dat condescension further proving the point.

this is why i lean OEC when in reality i fall on the "ill ask God when i see him" side. The OECs usually point out facts and discuss counterpoints. YEC usually do something like call you a disrespectful youth and a false prophet in a lab coat while saying you arent saved because you disagree with them.
Or, is it only all right if you do it?

well day one can be treated in this way without much trouble...although i would argue that the particular interpretation of genesis 1:4 shown here is outside the author's obvious intended meaning...

where day age creationists run into insurmountable sequencing difficulties is in the last three days of creation week...
Since I've learned what I've learned through the Bible, my Dead Guys, and evolutionists, I'm not up on the creationist lingo, so dumb question alert:
What are Day Age Creationists?

Day 1:4 is definitely interesting to consider, and the website alters the timeline slightly saying the earth was made into a planet before verse 1:4 and it actually was a great expanse of water.

Also, i apologize if i insulted you in this thread rachel. I got a bit angry and have been arguing a position i dont really hold simply because someone said im a naturalist because im a scientist (yes i know you dont think so, but it was quite clear the implications). I lean OEC because of how YECs like tintin act verses how the conversations ive had with OECs have gone.

I dont want to hide from the other sides argument, i want to consider it and find the truth. When YECs like tintin ignore my argument and attack me i find it hard to respect the position
TinTin did not call you a naturalist.
He did not call you a naturalist.
A naturalist, he did not call you.
TinTin never called you a naturalist.
TinTin didn't ever say or write, "You're a naturalist."

So, exactly how many ways must someone tell you that, before you go back and check out what TinTin actually did say?

It doesn't matter, however, an older earth coincides with scientific evidence and is more logical. I personally believe the earth is old, but creation is newer. In other words, the earth that was, existed in a previous earth age (millions of yrs ago), while the earth that we know and experience today, was created 6000 yrs ago.

Many Christians believe there is a long gap in time between Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth", and Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form and void". 'Was' is the wrong English word here. The Hebrew word used for 'was' is 'hayah' (Strong's Concordance ref #1961). 'Hayah' means; to become or came to pass. So that second verse could be better translated "the earth became void".

Actually the gap people are a small minority, not "many."

I hope folks can see where this millions of years thing is leading.

It strikes at the heart of the word of God.

Insideous,very insideous
Whoops. Someone forgot to reeducate you. It's billions now, because millions couldn't do it. lol

Okay, who invited you Jack Spratt?

Jack you have the issue of being an idiot in how you treat people and how you think YECs are dumb. Yecs can hold asinine antiscience views but that doesnt mean all YECs are antiscience. Dont pull the same crap tintin was pulling earlier by saying scientists are all naturalists.

If everyone would try to treat the other with respect, consider each others arguments, and move on then this thread might not have to be a bash war
You really have very poor comprehension skills if you think I said 'scientists are all naturalists'. That's your own statement. Stop putting it on me, please. Thank you.

To say the earth is only 6,000 yrs old is to deny reality. I question everything these people say
The Bible records roughly 4,000 years of history from Creation to Jesus coming to earth as a man. You do the Maths.

Gobekli Tepe in Turkey is a truly awesome archaeological site. I would love to visit there one day (but the area is just too dangerous at the moment. Put into the time-frame of the Bible (as it's written), Gobekli Tepe would be one of the most ancient remaining structures to date. It would be a post-Flood site, most likely post-Babel site. So, Gobekli Tepe for all intents and purposes would be a few hundred years over 4,000 years old. Ancient people weren't stupid, they were geniuses. We're the stupid ones (in comparison).

Then you YECs have a serious problem.

What is your credible scientific information that there was a global flood 4,000 to 5,000 years ago?

The book of Henry Morris on flood geology? Henry Morris, the father of the modern YEC cult movement, who founded ICR, and who got his phony flood geology from Seventh-Day Adventists?

LOL.
There comes a time in many threads where you know about where facts turn into nothing but IMOs. The moment this 98 year old man join this site over a year ago to do nothing but taunt creationist was one of those significant moments. And now that he's joined this thread exclusively to do the same thing ad nauseam, it's time to put this youngster to bed. (Him. Mot me. There is no way I will ever believe a 98 year older can't think of anything better to do than taunt YECs.)

It's God's Word I believe and unbiased science. It's your prerogative to hold to pseudo science which contradicts Scripture.
You just don't give a misbehaving child the attention she seeks. (I no more believe that user is a guy than I believe he's 98.)

Are you trying to say christians who are scientists like myself are npt really christians? Because you have a long road to hoe to prove that one.
I hate to burst your bubble, but not every comment is about you.

lol you are a funny guy. I will admit, even if you are older than me, i dont respect you.

That is due to the inane stupidity of what you say though.
And once again...
Dat condescension further proving the point.

Your arrogance is getting too much.

I know right? To be very honest I don't know how he's avoided being banned for spamming the same thing over and over and over and over and over, and like you said I've seen many people try to hold an actual civil conversation with him to be met with a brick wall or backhanded insult to their intelligence. He is the first person I've come across here that truly made me love the ignore option. You don't even have to wonder what his hidden comments say, it's mocking people for believing the 6,000 year old earth, and/or humans and dinosaurs living together. I have never seen a troll of this magnitude and that added so little to any conversation last so long here. I love not seeing his comments.
Part of her secret is she joined last year, but didn't start "participating" until four weeks ago. (Me snoop? You betcha! lol)
