You cannot prevent couples to copulate because sex is the highest form of love. if the couples want to have sex but does not want children, no church should forbid them to use contraceptives. it is better to use contraceptives on sex than having children which in the end you cannot give them decent things in life. Catholic Church forbids contraceptives so that it will retain its large number of members and more children means more givers of contributions, donations, students for Catholic schools and other pecuniary activities of the Church.
In the developing countries, local bishops will try their best that contraceptives to be banned nationwide because they want the people to procreate a lot because this is their subtle way to maintain a lot of poor people so that they can control them well. remember that more children in a poor family means poverty and less education. the local Catholic churches can easily manipulate the parishioners if ever some of its members of the clergy will exploit the ignorance and poverty of the poor masses.
I live in a Catholic majority nation so I know why banning contraceptives will also give bad effects in a nation. local Catholic clergy of each nations has no right to forbid nations not to use contraceptives.
