We cannot think or talk about Satan without understanding the "The Mystery of Sin"
When we think or talk about Satan, it's never without sin.
When we think or talk about God, it's never without righteousness.
Asking the question, "who is Satan", we need to look at "Who he was", "Where he's from"
Now some learned men asked the question, "How could sin start in such a perfect place as Heaven?"
Well, the question is, did it?
Now when Adam & Eve was created, Satan was already there.
And just where did he come from? Surely he couldn't have been there all the time.
GOD IN ETERNITY
Now in Eternity, there was just God, no heavens, no earth, no angelic hosts, no nothing.
It was just Him filling every bit of space with All His Attributes.
To be the Creator, He had to give expression to His Attributes and create.
To be the Father, He had to give expression to His Attributes and create angels and finally man.
To be the Healer, man had to become sick, diseased.
Thus we can see how God gave expression to His Attributes in Eternity.
ANGELIC POWERSWhen God created the angelic host, they were created in ranking.
They were made,powers, principalities, might, dominion (Eph.1:21) thrones (Col.1:16).
Some were ordinary angels, some were of a higher rank.
ANGELIC RANKING
1) Some is known as Seraphim - they are the confessors of Jehovah's glory/
They had each 6 wings - with 2 they covered their faces - a sign of unworthiness to look upon His Majesty
with 2 they covered their feet - a sign of being unworthy to stand His Holiness's presence.
2) Some are known as Cherubim - they are the protectors of Jehovah's glory;
two were standing with stretched out wings over the Mercy seat, guarding it.
two were placed in Eden with flaming sword guarding the way to the tree of life lest man
should eat of the tree of life and become eternal sinners.
THEIR NAMES
3 MAJOR FIGURES AMONGST THE ANGELIC HOST KNOWN BY NAME 1) Gabriel - who stands before the Lord (i) His is to announce major events
(ii) And to bring revelation such as to Daniel
2) Michael - He is Chief amongst the angelic host.
(i) He have a certain group of angels under him.
(ii) He is called a prince, a chief prince, a force not to play around with.
3) Lucifer - Morning star with 1/3 under his rule.
Gabriel, Michael is from above, but Lucifer wasn't.
He was placed by God in the earth to give glory unto God.
Now note when Adam & Eve met him in the garden, they didn't met him as Lucifer, morning star, but as Satan, the serpent and the old dragon.
So what happened between the period of him being created Lucifer and becoming Satan?
PROOF HE WASN'T IN HEAVEN
"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God" (read Eze.28:12-15 describing Lucifer in Eden)
This is prior to he's being in Adam's Eden as the serpent.
His description is beyond that state of Adam's Edenic experience.This is the Lucifer that ruled in the earth over 1/3, supposed to be the protector of worshiping the Almighty.
While in the original Eden, sin discovered him and thus was sin discovered in him.
It was sin that turned him from Lucifer to Satan. The mystery of sin is to deep.
Sin is definitely not something to play around with.
"Thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven". (Isa.14:13)
"I will ascend above the heights of the clouds" (v.14)
He was not there in heaven in the 1st place. He was on the original earth in the original Eden.
Then he got it in his mind to ascend up into heaven ans overthrow God.
And that's where Michael and his angels blocked him, in the heavens.
There is a fire wall in the heavens through which no virus of sin can penetrate, and that firewall is Michael and his angels.
So he got cast down, becomes Satan, and God's anger overthrew the heavens and the earth, thus "the [original-created out of nothing] earth became [not was] without form and empty.
Satan got his abode now somewhere in the heavens, thus he became the "the Prince of the power of the air" (Eph.2:2) from being the "annointed covering cherub in the earth" (Eze.28:14)
But God did something to them in their punishment, He undressed them, they became naked spirits which means they can possess bodies now.
Have we ever read in Scripture of the holy angels of God that possessed the bodies of humans or animals?
They cannot for they are not naked. But Satan and the demons can because they are naked spirits.
They constantly seek a body to possess.
Have we ever read of demons appearing visibly to the patriarchs or other men in Scripture, even eating with them (Gn.18)
They cannot for they are naked spirits but the holy angels can because they have glorified bodies.
Since there was no sinful human body available on earth, the best available one Satan could choose from was the serpent.
After that we never read of him entering another animal because animals is not his target, humans are.
THE LAWS
God put laws in place, angelic beings cannot exist in our world neither can humans in their world.
Any who is to be part of mans world is to come via a woman that's why the Saviour had to make a legal entrance into our world, via a woman.
Satan tried to invade our world illegally through the sons of God that went in to the daughters of man, thus wanted to corrupt the generation whereby the Messiah was to come.
Homosexuality, ISIS, you name it, is manifestations of demon possession.
Individuals, organizations, governments doing abnormal things is demon possession.
LITTLE TIME
Satan is let loosed on the earth, and we are warned that in the last days it will be perilous times.
Doctrines of demons, Governing of demons, Influencing of demons, Possessing of demons.
Satan is angry at man because he knows he's got little time left.
2000 years ago the demons were already nerved wrecked when Christ came, and feared that they were to be punished before their time. Don't take Satan lightly, he's a very angry devil, he hates us and will do all in his power to destroy us.
He cannot take it that "God so loved mankind", it just pisses him off.
