Not sure what age group to consider but:

Prince of Egypt

Ice Age, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc ++ for plain entertainment

Small One (Christmas cartoon)
and, uh, something someone posted in a thread here somewhere: The tale of the three trees (short)

Time Bandits, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Rocketman, Monsters, Inc., all 3 Toy Story movies, the Incredibles, Chitty chitty bang bang, Mary Poppins, Nanny Mcfee, The Seventh Brother, Rigoletto, Friendship Fields ...the last three are from "Feature Films for Families" which has more to choose from.

Every Friday night was pizza and movie night for our family...lots of fun. It did get hard to find appropriate movies. We've never had TV but I think we've watched about a million movies :).

every movie from Studio Ghibli, while secular, is family friendly and has good moral lessons & protagonists with strong ethics.
they are anime, hand drawn - the artwork and stories are of such quality that adults can enjoy them, & being cartoons, kids may enjoy them & the plots are easy enough to follow for the young ones too.
there is no "crude" or "vulgar" humour or innuendo like you find in Shrek (for example) or so many other popular American animated films, an the artwork & storytelling is far superior.

they are all quite fine IMO, a few of the best titles:

Spirited Away
Arriety
Ponyo
Tales From the Earthsea
Howl's Moving Castle

these are all the work of Hayao Miyazaki, i consider him our era's "Walt Disney" - by that i mean the good Disney, not the Disney of the last few decades.

many consider his finest movie "Princess Mononoke" -- this has a little darker tone but nothing i would worry about showing a child who can handle Snow White or the Wizard of Oz without nightmares. the most light-hearted of the list i gave would probably be Arriety & Ponyo

they are all quite good, highly recommend!

Why not Jurassic Park? Kids like dinosaurs don't they? And yes, it's a bit scary, but in my experience kids like good scare as well (I certainly did anyway; my parents took me to see it in the cinema back in '93 when it came out and I was only 6 or 7 then).
It's the blood, gore, fear, running, and complete lack of censoring.

Have you heard of Father of Lights? It's a really good Christian movie about God's love all over the world and has a dove rating that's good for all ages. Check it out: Father of Lights
