I trust people for maturity levels, not age. I just check age when immaturity hits.
On this site, I've met quite a few teens with maturity levels like they really should be much older than they are, and some of us should be much younger than we are, but what is it about some of the 20-something year olds boys, that think the world should be soaking in every word they say, and the older the person the more they should listen?
And it does always seem to be the 20-somethings, (although not all 20-somethings), boys. (Act like you're an adult in your 20s, and I won't call you a boy.) What did their 50-somethings parents teach these children that causes them to think so highly of themselves and so little of anyone else?
That being said, I do not necessarily see it limited to boys - after all it would be the same generation of parents that have raised both boys and girls that are now in their 20s... Our societal contributing factors for the 20's something generation that has provided increased challenges for this generation's parents are the constant push for media, social media and technology to provide immediate access to information... This has resulted, unfortunately, in the development of a false sense of knowledge and at the same time impatience... While in reality access to information does not necessarily equate to knowledge, and impatience is an unintended bi-product of their access to immediate information...
There are lots of good kids (boys & girls) in their 20s, and lots of good parents and of course there are always those exceptions... I fear that these same issues and impacts upon the younger generations (teens, and youth) will only be manifested with increased access to technology, media and social media...
We need to pray that our older generations have the foresight, capability and capacity to identify these issues ahead of time and implement and advice future parents to be better equipped with methods/tehcniques to help mitigate these issues from expanding further... Head it off at the pass...
