Ms. Demi777, I have a thread idea that might need your help, however, I have a question to ask you

if legalism is sin, how? please explain :sneaky:
someday your answer can inspire the end of many unnecessary threads

um, anyway, why is legalism sin? is it because it reduce our trust in the grace of Jesus? that legalism limits our ability to see that God's grace is enough
Legalism diatracts from grace.
See the Pharisees and how Jesus dealt with them. Jesus pointed at the law and always back to a relationship with the father

This isn't the thread to start a debate about sin and legalism on. Anyhoo, there are many existing threads on that subject in the Bible forum.

I am scared and concerned regarding my teen daughter. With in the last year she has displayed an outward appearance of dressing like a dyke.
combat boots, big jackets, ball cap backwards. I let her cut her hair any way she wanted and she came out with a shaved boys haircut. That's when my heart sunk. She has many girlfriends but one of them I can tell is leaning towards lesbian tendencies.

I have tried to gently talk to her and asked if she doesn't like being a girl? She said she likes being a girl. People are asking if she is gay. She responds with "no, why are people asking" I have read that people usually do not confuse when you ask them but rather they tell you when they feel ready. I took her to counseling but she thought I was insulting her by saying there was something wrong with her. I explained that we go for regular physical exams even when our bodys are fine.

Ok so I said I was scared. I am scared because I think I didn't protect her. Was she raped or molested? Because I think when a woman dresses like a man she doesn't want men looking at her because typically they were molested.

Or could this be something from the war on genders these days

Regardless, I love her anyway
Anyone have experience or wisdom they can share
You should talk to your pastor, and continue to take her to counseling.
It could be molestation, how ever it could be gender confusion, or just an act of rebellion.

Talk to her, and try and understand her actions, If you know why shes doing it, it would make it easier for you to help her, when you know what help she needs.

I think you are one of the few that understood my question and concern. Thank you

I see a lot of opinions here, some I agree with some I don't. But that is just it" opinions" I personally don't think GOD cares what we wear, its what is in our heart. I agree that a man should be a man and a women be a women. I think we are missing the point here. I pray for this girl and her salvation. If she has truly accepted Jesus as her savior and has a relationship with him. its not important what she wears. pray for salvation. I pray for her mother, to trust GOD. to be a example for her. to gently lead her to Christ. WE that have children this age can have sympathy for her. Telling her what will work or wont work is good. but she knows her daughter best. I pray for your patience and hope you can be there when your daughter needs to fall back on you.

Thank you very much. I appreciate you praying for my daughter and myself

I just want to point out though that legalism does not mean obeying God's laws and teaching others to do the same. It means making up your own unnecessary laws. It is not written in the bible that we must wash our hands before eating- that was their tradition- which they were treating as law. It is good advice, but it is not biblical law. But when people call me legalistic it is not for laws I made up myself, but for biblical commands- such as "a woman must not wear clothes that pertain to a man, and a man must not wear clothes that pertain to a woman."

Do u really want to go there? Really? Okay let me remind u that men wore high heels first, forbid them now? Men used to wear skirts and dresses and ut was normal? Forbid that too? Woman wear uniforms and boots in the military.
If u wanna go back in time even further, men wore sleeping gowns only, heck adam and eve inly wore some fur and as both wore the same it cant be how you are twisting Gods Word. Men used to have long hairas and andI and..
Its about woman not being allowed to try ro be a man. Like drag queens and all that. Its not about the literal clothing only.
