GOD WILL NOT TOLERATE ABUSE! You do not harm flesh you harm the LORD GOD HIMSELF. YES! If you harm ANYONE the Lord Jesus died for YOU HAVE TO ANSWER TO HIM.

IF YOU OFFEND ANY LITTLE CHILD WHO BELIEVES IN THE LORD... IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR A MILESTONE TO BE TIED AROUND YOUR NECK AND YOU TO BE DROWNED IN THE SEA!!

GOD WILL NOT TOLERATE IT NO!!! NEVER!!!! FEAR GOD, HIS WRATH IS TERRIBLE.!!!!

They are only children!! If a child makes a mistake, GOD WILL SHOW TENDER MERCY. Why are you so quick to beat the child down for something so little. God will turn your own anger on you. Don't you DARE ABUSE something that is not your own!!! You are not your own, even your own children are not your own, they are the Lords and so is ANYONE IN THIS WORLD. BE CAREFUL. EVERYONE WILL ANSWER TO GOD.

The Bible says it is ok to discipline your child with a rod. So why not? It will produce better results than if you let them slide into softness

<sigh> Wolfy, Gabriel still debating the Old Testament?

Have you read the New Testament yet?

Try Hebrews where it talks about a NEW COVENANT and how Jesus came an fulfilled and did away with some things like animal/blood sacrifice, etc.

thanks Ramon for posting, no matter what the topic or if people agree or disagree with you, we can always count on you to speak your mind without watering it down or distilling it to be more palatable to the masses.

Here is some scriptures for you:

Matthew 13 v. 57 "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house."

Luke 5: 31 "those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance"
Luke 12 v. 48 "For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required...I came to send fire on the earth....Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you not at all but rather division..."

John 7:6-8 (New King James Version)

6 Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil. 8 You go up to this feast. I am not yet[a] going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.

John 15:17-19 (New King James Version)

17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

The World’s Hatred

18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Oh, thank you. May Jesus bless you.
You're welcome. God bless you too.

As for the above discussion, the bible does say to discipline your children with the rod, BUT it also says to be careful not to break their spirit.

Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.
Proverbs 23:14 NIV

Fathers, do not be hard on your children, so that their spirit may not be broken.
Colossians 3:21 (Basic English Bible)

As a parent I discipline my children, even spank them when needed.
However I would NEVER physically harm my child. The first time I had to spank my child I found out what my father always meant when he said " this hurts me more than you" . I do agree it is not ok to hurt a child. When you are leaving burns, bruises, cuts or broken bones on your child that is not discipline.

its an example the bible has said its ok to do things in which we know are wrong the bible says we can own slaves you dont follow that so why follow the rule of hitting your child with a rod or whips which leave marks if you use a weapon to disipline a child WHICH WILL LEAVE MARKS AND SCARES IM PRETTY --edited-- SURE THATS ABUSE

Wolfy, you seem to feel very strongly about this subject. I hope that you were never abused as a child. As for the bible's reference to the rod, that was in the old testament. Jesus had not yet come. The new testament is clear in Ephesians 6:4 "And ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." As to slavery in the new testament, an employer/employee relationship is often what is being referred to as in Ephesians 6: 5-9. I'm not sure if maybe that could be what you are referring to? The coming of Christ changed alot of things for the better in biblical days, just like it does now when we allow him to come into our lives. We may not understand everything the bible says or why things happen the way they do. Many things we won't understand until we meet Him face to face. Whether you understand the bible and God or believe in either one, it is clear that He is loving you and drawing you. To my understanding, you are an unbeliever, so it won't bother you if I tell you that I am going to pray for you that God keep drawing you, pursuing you, loving you and convicting your heart of your need for Him. Will anyone else stand with me in prayer for Wolfy?

Growing up, I was spanked with a flat, foot long, two-inch wide wood stick. I remember it well (Can you tell;-) Anyhow, using a rod is not saying you are abusing your child . I was hit hard and often growing up, but I knew my parents were doing it to make me better. And, hard as they hit me in the rump, they never left more than red welts that quickly went away. And, to me, you will not be breaking a child's spirit by spanking themselves unless you don't explain your hardness on them afterward, explaining the wrong of the disobedience they done. God's words in Proverbs are application today and the New Testament did not change the fact that ruling with the rod can save a child from death. I think soap in the mouth and sitting in corner and other less painful means of discipline be used than spanking, and , God willing I ever get married, have kids, I would consider spanking ONLY if the offense was potentially going to lead to very bad behavior by my child in the future.

Hahaha. I didn't get spankings that often, but when I got into it with my parents I got a beating. What they did was not wrong, it was very right. I am not saying they took a hammer and smacked my face because I didn't eat my beans. I am so thankful to have been in the hands of God. You see, I was very silent, and all the evil I did was in my heart, and it built up until one day I thought I would just kill everyone I knew. Satan is playing no games, neither should we.

But OH the mercy of the Lord!!! When I would have some evil in my heart, the those days my Dad would come home upset for some reason, and then I would provoke him, and I would lock my door, and he would go through the trouble of taking off the hinges and coming in and jumping me, lol. So, when I did get into something it resulted in a big deal. To tell you the truth, I was, I thought absolutely fearless. I felt I could kill someone and not care, and I am sure I could have because Satan does not care.

So you see I am glad my parents were obedient in not sparing. If my heart would not be humbled God could surely humble my flesh. I went so far as to think to kill myself one night. BUT THE LORD IS GLORIOUS!!!! Now, my skin is as tough as ever concerning Satan. If he think he can destroy the Lord's people, he needs to think again, because I for one will not just sit by and watch it happen.

Don't hate your parents for doing their jobs. May Jesus bless you all!!

my mom only spanked me when i did something that almost got me killed or almost seriously hurt my brothers and I was unrepentant. If she thought I learned my lesson she would not spank me but if I gave her lip, tried to shift blame or flat out lied about it. ummmm it wasn't so nice.

I got spanked all the time. Sometimes for things I didnt do or know that I did was wrong. And it wasn't a light spanking either. It was often the belt too. I spent many days just sitting in my room crying. But I've forgiven all that now, but I think it explains why I am very nervous around people have very low self esteem.

that is very tramatizing and I'm sorry that you had to go through it. but Remember that GOD heals us of all our hurts.

have compassion for those who have low self esteem and remind them that God loves them and remind yourself that God loves YOU too :)

YouTube - God's love letter

Sometimes we just sit with God and cry and He listens and tells us it will be ok. Sometimes that is what we need to do for others, just sit, listen and hold them and show them that Love still works in this world. Just listen to God's heart and take comfort in that. :)

<internet hugs>

May God's peace and love keep you.

PS. I've got some triggers that freak me out and I have to retreat and just pray to God to comfort and save me from my fears and troubles
