During military service one day I woke up and felt completely drained of energy, pale clammy skin, nauseous and dizzy, the Sick Bay was the other end of our camp which would be about a 2 minute walk, it took me an hour to get there. I had to cradle my Rifle in my arms it felt so heavy. The doctor could not find anything wrong so he gave me some headache pills, I thought I was going to die, another hour to get back to my tent where I collapsed onto my bed and curled up praying to God to help me. I fell into a deep sleep and when I woke up I was totally normal........I believe Jesus touched me that day.
was in church one day and had the worst toothache ever, the Pastor asked if anyone needs healing to lay their hand on the ailment and he said a prayer. I put my hand on my cheek where the throbbing was and thanked The Lord for my healing, the pain left instantly...what a feeling that was!
I was down the coast with some friends and decided to go for a surf. The sea was very rough as there had been a cyclone out at sea a day or two before, I was unfamiliar with the area and decided to jump off the rocks into the ocean to paddle out, the rocks where quite steep and full of mussles and barnacles. I waited for a wave then jumped in and paddled out, the sidewash was extremely strong and the waves where huge, I knew I had made a terrible mistake but it was too late. I paddled like crazy to avoid the jutting rocks to my left but could see that the current was just too strong, then this humongous wave broke in front of me and I looked back to see how far I was from the rocks where I had jumped off as I thought I was quite far out, to my horror the rocks where about 2 metres from me, panic took hold of me as I was faced with this huge wall of churning white water and jagged rocks behind me, I stuck my foot out against the rocks and shouted "Jesus help me!!" just before the wave hit. It hit me hard and I clung on to my surfboard bracing myself for the pounding against the rocks that was to come, It felt like I was in a huge washing machine but I felt no rocks, the next thing I knew I was sitting on my board in ever so calm water, I was absolutely stunned and just praised God!
While on a fishing trip with work mates in Mozambique just after the war there went fishing on the crocker ski we had by myself. I paddled around the point out of sight from anyone and set up fishing. It was a fantastic day, not a breath of wind and the sea was like glass it was so calm, just a gentle rise and fall every so often as the swells passed under me. After about two hours I lay down, pulled the cap I was wearing over my face and dozed off, just chilling on a beautiful day. Now the locals all walked around armed with Machetties which is a huge bush knife and they were a rough and dangerous bunch understandably because if the war these guys had gone through. Some would go fishing in their boats far out to sea. While I was half dozing a small lick of water suddenly splashed onto my face so I sat up startled and to my surprise, a boat with two of these characters where almost by me and when they saw me sit up and see them, they mumbled to each other and turned away. I really believe that had I still being laying down with my face covered these guys would and could have easily disposed of me and stolen all without anyone ever having known what happened. What caused the water to suddenly splash me on such a calm day was definitely not their boat but The Lords doing...praise Him.
On a school camp with my son I went for a walk and when I got back everyone had left camp to go to a dam for lunch and a swim, I was supposed to go as well but came back just as they were leaving, I tried to run after the vehicles but too late. Now what I thought, well I could just stay and be bored by myself all day so I decided to take a jog after them, I had no idea where this dam was, not even the general direction. So while jogging I started talking to The Lord and asked Him to direct me which way to the Dam. The area was farmland, very hilly and just gravel roads. Every time I came to a crossroad or "T" junction I would say out loud "which way Lord" , there was no audible voice or sign telling me just an "unction" to go left or right. After 2.5 to 3 hours of running I came across an old sawmill but it looked deserted, then a person came walking and I asked him where was the Dam, he pointed to a small side road about thirty metres away, I ran down this road which barely looked like a road and there it was....everyone stared at me in surprise and they asked how on earth did I find them.
God is good when we trust Him with childlike faith......I just wish I could every day.
I really do not care if people don't believe that it was God who helped me in these situations...........I know that He cares and that is all that matters.
