i wish i was homeschooled

the only social skills i learned from being around other children were wicked
I have two older brothers. I learned wick from them. They learned wick from me. If we were homeschooled, we probably would have perfected wick. lol

Ahhh. You always hear it :). Are homeschoolers really socialized??? Well, I can tell you as a homeschooled kid that I can actually carry on a conversation! I'm not on my technology all the time so I have to learn (horrors!) to actually talk to the people around me.

I have been observing homeschoolers vs. public schoolers all my life, and the one thing that I have concluded across the board is that homeschoolers can talk to people of different age groups better than public schoolers can.
You've got siblings. You really didn't get any choice in socializing... unless you wanted to starve to death or pee in your pants. lol

if I had a kid I would want them home schooled because I've noticed how public schools are cramming children's heads with far too much, they want kids to be geniuses even at infant/toddler age it's really getting bad,and not to mention that so many teachers in public school don't pay attention to what students do for example a kid hit me about three times on the back in the back of the class and it wasn't until I by reflex to his possible next punch poked him in the eye and he fell to the floor, that the teacher noticed anything wrong going on,it's pathetic,if kids are going to continue to be to go to public schools then teachers need to lay off overworking children's brains and pay attention to what goes on in their classes, that's my take on why I think homeschooling to be a great idea firstly, but also when I think of it if I had a child then "I"would want to teach"MY" child "Values" instead of fill "My" kid's head up with stuff that "They" don't need, like mathematics I get and it's fine but after the basics of it why go overboard with it? or English it's great and useful to learn letters, words, punctuation, sentences, and paragraphs but why bring weirdness into it like mythology or Shakespeare into it yet not teach the bible?(talk about ludicrously silly considering both mythology and Shakespeare have Gods and witch craft in them yet somehow, our "God" isn't allowed to be mentioned ok....? doesn't make a lick of sense yet these brainiacs think it does!)and yeah... teaching kids how to have kids at an early age yet they don't want them to have any early sex nor sexual diseases nor early kids of their own by making them aware of what they can do at an early age for their own good(translation:we think kid's know this stuff already somehow no matter what their age so we'll tell them what to not do right after telling them how to do this=it must make sense somehow after all we thought of this and we know of a certainty that we are smart right?...) seriously this junk needs to quit! but there in lies the favorability of homeschooling because if you teach them yourself alongside your spouse and God then they make actually learn alot that they "should"learn and it actually "making" sense what they learn and "why "they learn it,but that's just my humble opinion!

well hello everyone :) okie dokie, well I wasn't sure where I should post this, but I think this is the best place for it..

So I work in a middle school as an office clerk/receptionist, and seeing how the kids behave and interact with one another, has really opened my eyes to see how evil/bad this world is becoming, I mean I know nothing in this world is good, but I guess I always saw children as innocent and pure and just plain angels, But boy was I wrong, then I remembered how public schools were when I was a kid, and how bad and mean kids used to be to me, and how my mother thought putting me in a private school would change that, which it didn't it just got worse, so she had no other choice than to put me in home school.

Now this is where my question begins. Many people believe, that if you home school your children, they will become outcasts, antisocial, or just plain awkward, and weird and not able to function in the real world, this may be the case for some, but if I'm honest I used to be like that as kid growing up in a "normal school", I didn't fit in at all, yet when I got pulled out of school, I became extremely social, (I broke out of my shell).

So.... I guess I would just like to see everyone's opinion about Homeschooling. should kids go to school and interact with the world and their teachings, or stay and study at home and have a christian perspective curriculum. Thank you! :)
I haven't read all the responses so my apologies if it's already mentioned. I have a non-Christian friend who recently posted a meme that points out that in the past, children learned from parents and that "school" is actually the new thing. Here's the meme (I hope it posts). Note/disclaimer: I don't know Wendy Priesnitz nor do I know the context of the quote but I do agree with this particular statement. There's another quote and I *think* it's from a Christian pastor but he basically said that we shouldn't be surprised that our children come out as "Romans" when we send them to "Ceasar" for their education. Regardless, I think it's food for thought and I hope it helps you with your final decision!

I agree with you that parents should be the primary source of education to their own children but educators that are tasked with educating a HUGE mass of kid's that are really just being dumped off on underpaid babysitters are just not equipped for the job.

So I don't think that they are bad people or educators, many try as hard as they can yet some kid's still slip through their fingers.

Well that's going to happen with any industry of mass production, the problem isn't necessarily one of production but one of quality control.

The educational system is rubber stamping kid's out of expediency.

I think the 'system' is trying its best to try and 'dumb-down' God and His Holy Ways more and more,
almost to the point of, how much lower can they go from here, to TRY and change Who God really is,
and what He really said, and what we must do to honour Him?

they are given over to promoting the most ever popular 'electronic-highway-byway',
just another one of satan's ways to distract the 'world' from our Heavenly Father...-
the ability to totally dis-unite - faith-family-friend-but-most-of-all-our God/Jesus-Connection...

read The Word, open the eyes and ears -

many 'our' age, hub and me, when we entered the 'school-system', we began the day with the "Lords' Prayer',
and said, The Pledge of Aligience, with our 'hands over our hearts'...we were taught 'morals from the Bible, and
school Teachers were seen at Church...when you were 'bad', you paid the PRICE by some sort of life-changing
correction - of course some learned, and some spurned...

it's about going 'forward', no matter what, does one really have a choice when He calls?:):)

Honestly? We were a two-income family. We'd have to be, if we had kids. In order to homeschool the kids, that says one of us would need to work a first shift, and the other one would need to work a second or third shift. AND that means the parents wouldn't see much of each other until the kids were grown, nor would the kids experience much home life with both parents around at the same time.

Are you so rich you can't see this as a problem?

Hard to believe, but my parents were able to instill their values into us while we went to public schools. (Got Mom into trouble more than once, but no way was she going to take it lying down. lol)
My Ma was always the biggest spender come Christmas time but the last one to spend come bail time,I guess that her thinking was that I would learn with experience.
