You asked where it says Christians go to heaven in post #(10). So I showed you.

It still doesn’t say we are going to heaven. Revelations is clear nobody has a new body until the resurrection or second coming if alive. Does our spirit return to God? Is it sentient? Is there a lapse that we sleep for?

Yes it does. Christ is at the right hand of the Father. As soon as we die we are in the Lord's presence. (2 Cor. 5:8) Thus our spirit returns to God immediately. No lapse. No sleep. We are there.

I don't know what resurrection you are talking about. The resurrection always concerns the body. The spirit of the believer is with the Lord when he dies.

One poetic verse doesn’t sway me. Do you think we stay a soul? We are all going to receive a body that doesn’t rot, similar to Christ’s resurrected body. Many of us will return to the New Earth. Some will remain with Christ, some will live in New Jerusalem, the city that decends from heaven.

We are created body, soul, and spirit. Once we get our bodies back, we will stay body, soul, and spirit.

Well, I have never seen the layout where each believer is placed. I know He has prepared a place for each. That is sufficient for now. (John 14:2)

The question we have been grappling with is, when do we get our bodies back?

Paul writes:

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know - God knows. And I know that this man - whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows - was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that people are not permitted to tell (2 Corinthians 12:2-4).

It seems to me (and some may disagree), that believers are in a kind of intermediary state after death, when their spirits return to "the one who gave it" (Ecc 12:7). They live in a state of complete holiness but their glorified bodies are not full realized. I think this will happen at a future time. But there is definite evidence that the spirits of dead believers ascend to be with Christ where he is when they depart this life. It's less about the place and more about being wherever God is. I think people miss that.

We know we are saved because we CHOOSE to believe it. When one prays it shouldn’t feel like talking into a phone that’s turned off. There is connectivity. You feel like part of a larger whole.

How does someone get Saved?

How do you know you are Saved?

How do you know you will go to heaven?
I will tell you, that when you make the decision to repent and ask Jesus to make you clean, we feel new. At first, it can be easy to turn away from sin because often there is a fire that burns so brightly in us. Yet, we don't understand God the way that we need to in order to keep that fire burning.
Some people here will argue because none of us know everything about the creator of, well, everything...
Salvation doesnt mean you arent ever going to have hard times and suffer. Quite the opposite. You will...but the beauty is in having faith and trust that God is going to teach you through it all to strengthen you. This is called justification. If you begin to feel darkness creep in and your joy begin to fade, there are a few things that can keep this from happening or reverse it.
#1 Find quiet time to talk to God. Just you and Him every day.
#2 Make the time to read your Bible every single day.
#3 Try to get as much of the world out of your life as you can. Wordly music, television, etc. and fill it with Christian music and inspirational blessings.
#4 Find a church and find something to do in that church and beyond it's walls to help others.
#5 Rebuke the devil in Jesus' name and he will flee from you.
Remember that God loves us, even when we mess up, but once He begins a work in you, He will see it finished! God's promises are true...and if you don't know what promises He has made to us in the Bible, that's what I would read first! He has never lied and you can stand on His truth!

As the Bible says
Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.

That you find the commands written in the Bible compelling and you find that you want to do them.

Because Jesus said he is going to make a place for us so that where he is we will be also.

Show me where the Bible states we go to Heaven.
Didn't Jesus say something to the affect or that he is going to make a place for us, so that we can be where he is?

Anyway I don't care where it is. I want to go where Jesus is, even if it means going to Chicago.

We are saved by grace received by faith.

We know we are saved by the witness of His Holy Spirit with our spirit.

Jesus promised that where He was going we would go to be with Him.
