Just to reassure you, I left home at 17, managed to graduate, while living on my own. It was not easy. But I stayed on my feet, somehow. I went to university one year, then decided on an alternative lifestyle, which was really not a good option! I was making silver jewelry and playing music in bars. I finally went back to a community college, cost was $50 a semester. I got straight As and an entrance scholarship to a major Canadian university, I was 26.

But the big change was God saved me, and that really turned my life around. I got my teaching certificate, finished my degree, got married and had children

You already know God, nothing is more important than that! Hang onto to him, and don't be afraid to get help from your church or other charities. You can do this!

i never went to high school
but i saved money working at a dollar general

had a roommate i trusted

gradually got better jobs every 9 to 14 months and moved up every time i could....

took about 3 years for me to be able to support myself functionally.. spent some of that homeless

im sure you can do it faster than me
especially since you know of God

My God! Yes! Getting AT LEAST a GED should be the first thing you do before you spend $5 on anything else.

It is almost unfathomable that you don't already have one. Truly, it is the height of foolishness and recklessness not to get some education in today's world. You will honestly make nothing of yourself if you cannot put yourself into a position to make (at the very minimum) $50,000 a year by the time you are 30. And you cannot get that education if you have less than a high school equivalency to build upon.

Join the military
Still apply for college and see what I can do
If I can't afford college and I don't get enough scholarships and stuff I will probably join the military and see if they can help to pay for my schooling. (That was advised by my guidance counselor)
Or I tough it out for a while and try to get myself on my feet till I have enough money for all of that (that is what my father ended up doing. He is pretty successful despite the whole abusing thing lol) but I know that is rare and it'll be tough if I go that way

I say go for it. Any chance you can get any financial help for college? Talk that over with your counselor if possible. Joining the military would be cool, you get to learn more about yourself you never knew you you knew and you may be a better person beaus of it. Plus it would help out your college situation much more.

I say go for it if you feel you really need a change in your life, God will be there and just make sure you don't part from him.

Just be sure you work on building yourself up.. people that are horrible to be around are everywhere and care less when your an adult... Learned the hard way.. left an abusive home at 17, and nobody had sympathy for me...I wasn't prepared for that...

Minor correction. When you graduate you are a senior. Senior isn't a year of school, it's the last quarter of your high school life. You're merely abbreviating it. (I don't want you thinking "I was never a senior" when you're old and gray.)

Check the prerequisites. (All the ones I remember don't necessarily exist today -- like they won't take you if you're below a certain height or have flat feet... Hey, I'm old. I remember when flat feet meant, "no way." lol)

You still can't have flat feet
I've already checked the requirements multiple times over the past two years and I'm in contact with the health person for the AF

I figured you were an emancipated minor.

GED might be easier than you think. If you don't have much trouble with reading, writing, and arith... math, just go in and take it. Hubby studied and worried for months, only to find out he never had to study at all. Easy for him. There was a break midway through the test and he was out having a smoke. He heard a couple of woman saying how hard it was, and it surprised him.

And, if you don't pass? Then you know studying is involved. (I'm lazy. If I don't have to study, I don't want to. lol)

All right. Enough time in the military definitely means they pay for college. But that woman thing has a few bad side effects:
1. Lots of abuse for women -- both physical and sexual.
2. Lots of temptation. Not just the usual temptation. The male/female ratio is such that almost every guy will try and hit on you.
3. Falling in love and marrying. That's where my nephew met his wife. Marriage is wonderful, but pregnancy is when the military says bye-bye. Not enough time, and no college. They were married a couple of decades before they were able to get her through college too. And, truthfully, she probably never would have gone, but he has Parkinson's, so they're planning for when he won't be able to work. (She just became a nurse.) They're happy together, but if your goal really is a college degree, after service, I want to warn you why it's a bit tougher to be a woman and do that.

On the positive side, free healthcare through the VA for life. Oh, and help with mortgages too. (Ah, yes. How to freak out a 15 year old. Start talking about 30-year mortgages. lol)

If I am able to get into the AF they treat women the best (says peeps in the military)
Yeah. They'll see me without makeup and run away screaming and crying.
People don't fall in love with Natania. Even if they did Natania does not fall in love with people. I can't trust people.

Dad told me that when I graduated, I should start at $20,000 a year. He really didn't get that teaching thing. Teachers in my county were making $8,500 a year.

I made $20 a week the summer I graduated. (Had to get help with the $70 rent.) But, my first job was $8,500 a year. I didn't make $20,000 until I was in my 40s. :eek:
