Punishment by parents?

I would hope that at 18 one would be mature enough not to require discipline after this fashion.

If the parents have established rules necessary for continued residence in the home then compliance is required. If not then alternate living arrangements should be found.

Perhaps some time in the military would be reasonable.

It is our sinful nature that struggles against authority. We are always under some authority no matter how old we are and while the consequences change for disobedience this is how we mature.

Hi there, I really do think that at 18 your parents should see that you are growing up
and they need to re-think the whole matter. I mentioned in my last post
that maybe there is another person you could talk to a pastor perhaps or, maybe
another family member.

I see that WWJD has given you the website details of child line in your country, you
could call them a talk it through with them to see what they think.

A few others have suggested getting a job and moving out, if your parents do not
change their mind, then you may have to do this.

As I said earlier if it was a 17-18 year old female who was being spanked on their
bare bottom by their parents, there would be an absolute outrage.
Just because you are a man it should not make it acceptable to anyone.

This isn't just discipline it is humiliation and disrespect, possibly verging on abuse.

My family growing up were very much disciplinarian. I received spankings,switchings and dat's belt on occasion. But I was always told why and it was after I deserved it. My parents never did it in anger either.

I'm a nanny now and a couple parents have given my disciplinary permission and I be it on common sense and Bible principles. The book series To Train Up A Child is a very good guideline to explain things but each child is different, of course.

In your case 18 is a bit old for spankings. It's talk to your parents in an adult manner and just see if there's an alternate way to resolve things.
