In Romans Paul tells us that same sex relationship is shameful and is a sin. Romans 1:26-27
I whole heartedly agree with this..anyone who believes in the Bible being taken literally would agree. Yet that does not give any Bible believing Christ follower the right to be mean, judgemental, arrogant or religiously flippant about it and go around bruising people in the head with Romans 1:26-27. Yes its a sin, but i truly believe it is a stronghold..just like addiction to porn, alcholism, hetersexual lust/premarital sex, any addiction that can cause sinful behavior is. My question i have asked, and i will ask this again..why must some christians come across like this is the only sin that is bad, to be frowned upon? All sin is sin! It is all bad! Love them first..get to know them(yes that means do not become a homophobic religious nut and actually love on someone) Heck even give them a hug, let them know you are a friend before you go and come with your big bible and seek to put a notch on your 'salvation prayer belt'. How about us as christians for once actually being friends to those who don't actually believe like we do, or even are members of our church! Yes i have met those who will only hang with folks of their baptist, methodist, presbyterian church,etc..etc. It's close minded and it shows spiritual immaturity. Just look to Jesus, you know that guy whom you all claim to follow..yeah, he really loved on sinners..yes those 'filthy people' of society. Look who he picked to be his disciples? Disfunctionaly failures in society. And those he rebuked? Oh those were the supposed religious folk of the time, did nothing to help anyone get to God, nor they themselves were really interested in knowing God..they just wanted to look 'spiritually enlightened' to the world and were haughty and arrogant. White washed tombs i recall Jesus calling them!

I agree we shouldn't be mean to them. We could help them and show them that is wrong just like any other sin. But some ppl say it worse then other sin because it's a lifestyle and not just an addiction. And I can kinda see what they are talking about.

I neglect to see the prevalence of this ongoing debate, it is not for us to judge or critique. All I can say is I didn't throw my male seahorse out when it gave birth to its offspring as the female watched. "Roles" can be reversed whether you like it or not.

Although I agree with what you are saying about not submitting to violence as a way to purge other people of their sins-ironically a sin in itself- I find that labelling homosexuals as "them" is equally as offensive.

This bold text to me seems like a faulty/unrighteous judgment that homosexuaility is no biggie, or even OK, since seahorses may have roles reversed.

Yet the same poster obviously dislike when other people make other judgment than her on the issue. And there we have that old machine runnin' again, I guess.

What in the world do seahorses have to do with Humans? People who reject God like to compare themselves to animals because they dont realize man was made in Gods image (unlike the animals), so therefore they see no difference between man and animal.

I dont feel that homosexuality is the worse sin in the world. In my personal opinion, I don't even think its the worse sexual sin. The problem is that there are too many people these days who don't believe its even a sin at all, and that is one of the reasons it gets harped on so much.

the seahorse breeds and gives birth just exactly as God has created them. It is not a reversed role if you are a seahorse :)

I thought we were talking about same sex "marriage"?

We should help anyone and everyone truly in need. There are no boundaries in Christs love.

Homosexuality is not new. It has always existed. Look at ancient Rome. I fail, however to see at any other point in history where gay men and women (even in Rome where immorality ran rampent) wanted to be able to marry. It makes me wonder why now?

Why is it ok to condemn people for being gay, but not for eating shellfish? Why is it that Christians cry out in anger when a gay couple adopts a child, but not when they see a person with a tattoo? Why is it ok to cherry pick Leviticus 18:22 and ignore Leviticus 19: 27-28: "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard." “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." Why is this ok? Why is it ok to trim your beard, but it's not ok for gay people to get married? If you are against gay marriage and gay rights in general, you better have never broken these other laws. That means no more Red Lobster, no tattoos, no trimming your beard, none of it. Someone explain to me why this hypocrisy is ok. Please!

So Christians do not believe in same sex marriages...thats fine, same sex marriages should not be allowed in churches. Whatever, this makes perfectly logical sense. However to deny them civil marriages and unions based on a religious beliefs is wrong and does actually violate their civil rights. If they want to go get married in a courthouse I dont think its anyones business but their own. I mean no Christians pitch a fit when atheists do it, so Im failing to see the issue.

Nautilus, The U.S.A didn't create marriage. God did. God didn't even say only believers could get married. He kept it to a man and a woman. If you fail to see the issue even after reading all 353 posts before yours, you may indeed never understand.

again, it appears we are going back up the line of posts, there are 353 posts that talk exactly about what we are going back over again. This isn't about being gay, its about consecrating a sin as Holy. AKA Holy Matrimony. It's called that for a reason guys.

If someone that you love in your family is homosexual do you suddenly turn your back, look away and stop loving them? I say no! You continue to love them as you have always loved them, and you pray for them, they need love and prayer just as anyone who has committed sin. I have had to make this choice with a member of my family and her childhood friend, I will love and pray for them both always, I will not judge because it is not for me to judge others. We will all face our own judgement someday and the last time I checked there is only ONE who is perfect.

What is it called if you are married by a Justice of the Peace?

Well then at that point I would ask why is the government involved in marriage at all? Oh perhaps because its now used for civil purposes as well as religious. So if someone decided to have a non-religious wedding without any God involved then why should they be hampered by religious laws? The quick answer is they shouldnt. This is nothing but an example of Christians trying to force their morality on a secular society and part of the reasons people are tired of most Christians. I don't support gay marriage within the church but if someone wants to go to a courthouse and get a marriage certificate its 1)No ones business but their own since they certainly aren't hurting anyone, and 2)Not our place to force our rules on them.

Is it really "Holy" anymore? I mean, in a world where Britney Spears can get married for 55 hours and Elvis impersonators can marry you, is it really Holy? "Till death do us part" really doesn't have any meaning anymore. Back when the Bible was written, I'm sure it was a much more Holy thing, but in the 21st century, it's kind of evolved passed that. Why is that such a bad thing? Progression is good.
