We went out for lunch at a local restaurant yesterday. Mask were required unless you were seated. During our entire meal, a mother and/or her teenage son chased a child around the restaurant (no masks). The child looked like he was around 6 years old.

We raised four children, and we went out as a family many times. Our children always stayed in their seats. They knew that misbehavior meant a trip to the car and a warm backside. Why do parents tolerate children's misbehavior in public?

They probably didn't learn to behave when they were children.

Parents don't discipline their children like they use to do. Part of the reason is because they don't know what their allowed to do (example: spanking can technically be grounds for CYS). Part of the reason is because they're immature and/or have terrible ideology on how to raise a child. There are a lot of horrible books on parenting and a lot of people have no spiritual life. So that's a part of it.

That being said I try not to judge other parents bc there can also be things you don't know about. Children have severe behavior issues, autism, ADHD, bipolar, etc. I've seen it all. They can also be going through something traumatic. They might be a lot younger than you think as well.

I've been mom shamed before. I heard her telling her son "hey that kids 3 years old. Way too big for a stroller!" Um...he was 15 months. 🤣

Many people these days equate being agreeable with being good. A need to be liked is an obstacle to good parenting too. Political correctness imposes a fear of being seen as a child abuser. Self centered people raise self centered people. Narcissism run amok.:oops:

Hope you didn’t leave a big tip. You’re going to need that money for tax purposes to pay that kid’s public defender one day.

I left our waitress a big tip. It was a miracle that she was able to serve anyone. If if had been the manager, I would have politely asked the parents to seat their children or leave.

the servers have NOTHING to do with the behavior of other guest.
In fact, they are the ones who have to deal with it the most. Cleaning up after the unruly child and listening to everyone else's complaints.

If the Believer Faith is not placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross where the victory was one, the help of the the Holy Spirit stops because grace is being frustrate. Christ has become of no benefit to that Believer. In other words, you get to take care of you.

no, I got the point of your post being that kids like that grow up to be delinquents needing public defenders at tax payers expense, :rolleyes: ...... perhaps it is you who misunderstood the point of my post.......

Well children need to be watched especially that age.
That's the danger with cellphones. You cant effectively parent and ignore your child at the same time.

not unruly but the parents that really shocked me were the mccanns who left their children, all under 6 in their hotel room, without a baby sitter to go out to a restaurant every single night while on vacation.
was it any surprise that madeline went missing?

They said they checked every half hour but Im a bit sus about that. They didnt use a baby listening service that the hotel offered. They could have had one of their friends they went on vacation with to babysit. Or they could have ate WITH their children or kept an eye on them at the restaurant in strollers. Or just got room service and socialised with their adult friends during the day.

Its not like madeline would have known how to call for help when she wakes up and finds her parents arent around nor her siblings who were 2 years old. anyway.

I just find that kind of neglect unimaginable.

The point of your first response to me had absolutely nothing to do with the essence of my post. You might as well have complained about having a tooth ache as a child, it would have made more sense. Excuse me for trying to rationalize your extreme disconnect.

Im asking respectfully as to where I’m wrong? It’s like saying 2+2=4 and someone responds by saying their floor needs swept. Where’s the connection? I don’t see it.
