A forgotten singer, with a mousey voice, who had a lot of hits in the 60's. Here is a youtube
of Gene Pitney's last live concert, albeit from 2000, highlighting his hits from the 60's.

Gene Pitney Concert 2000 - Bing video
I have never forgotten Gene Pitney .:D. I would never describe his voice as mousey .:geek::giggle:

Course he sounds different now that he is much older. That concert opens with the song I associate most with his name.

English singer David Whitfield first recorded this song with the Mantovani Orchestra in 1954,
and in the UK it was the first record to spend ten consecutive weeks at number 1 on the UK
Singles Chart, being one of the biggest selling British records in the pre-rock days, selling
more than three and a half million copies worldwide. It was a Top 10 hit in America.

Jay and the Americans recorded "Cara Mia" on their 1965 LP Blockbusters. It became an
international Top 5 hit, reaching number 1 in Canada. Their version was re-released in
1980, and went into the charts in the Netherlands. Don't miss the go-go dancers @ 1:57

Here is Jay Black singing the same song in 2011 --- forty six years later.

Awww... I just discovered that Jay Black passed October 22, 2021 (aged 82). What stamina of voice he had! R.I.P.

Irene Cara and Christine McVie also both passed in November of last year. Jerry Lee Lewis and Loretta Lynn in Oct. '22.

Olivia Newton John in August. Jim Seals in June. Gary Brooker in February (founder and lead singer of Procol Harum).

Also in February: Ian McDonald (multi-instrumentalist, songwriter; co-founding both King Crimson and Foreigner).

Meat Loaf and Ronnie Spector in January. R.I.P. all.

Originally released in 1963:

A Beautiful Morning - The Rascals - 1968

Also Dino Danelli in December of '22 (drummer for The Rascals).

Sorry if I seem morbid. A very good friend of mine passed on Friday.
I am not sad. It was sudden, but I can only smile when she comes to mind.
I knew her for over fifty years. Sometimes I get the sense I do not have a lot of time left, either.

A few sad and haunting songs. But they're some of my favorites!

After decades I never figured what this one was all about???????????

Bobby Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe - Bing video

And so many people seem to be lost in today's world, but that's nothing new.

Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street (Official Video) - Bing video

And who can forget the tragedy of the Edmund Fitzgerald?

"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - Gordon Lightfoot (HD w/ Lyrics) - Bing video

One of the greatest guitarists ever, Stevie Ray Vaughn, it's hard to believe he's been gone for almost 40 years now. That's a cold shot.
