Not talking about a different language ...talking about screaming like you are insane :(
Most people don't realise that these metal vocalists train their voice to do what it does like any other vocalist of other genres. And indeed they have different styles of metal vocals too that can be honed.

Erm, I don't know what you consider "metal" (maybe just thrash, power, and speed?) but Flyleaf is definitely a metal band - or at the very least metalcore/alternative metal. It's a huge genre. But if you don't consider it any type of metal whatsoever, then no big deal, we'll just have different opinions.
Wow... just wow...

Sorry, I may not be as familiar with the genre as others. I do like many bands in general, but would I place Flyleaf closer to Slipknot than I would Switchfoot. A lot of their riffs are definitely inspired by nu-metal (take Chasm for example). But I might just be an idiot

Yup, there is such a thing as good and bad screaming/growling, lol. I haven't been able to find a Christian band I like that does it regularly.

I got one for ya!

Lyrics:

"Maranatha"

behold our God

soon comes the day when heaven stands open and the night fades away
and the night fades away

Salvation and Glory roaring from the skies
Faithful and True
Faithful and True

He ahh... approaches
with blazing eyes

and the Lord said, look I am coming, I am coming soon

I am the Alpha and the Omega
The First and the Last
The First and the Last
The Beginning and the End

look, I am coming soon! and My reward is with Me,
and I will give to everyone according to what they have done
cause I am the Alpha and the Omega
The First and the Last
The Beginning and the End

prepare for His return
prepare for His return

come!
let those who hear say, come
let those who are thirsty come
and let all who wish to take the free gift of the water of life

prepare for His return
prepare for His return

prepare for His return
prepare for His return

Metal and me go way back to when I was teething on gardening tools and chrome platted silverware. The time the china cabinet was left open is particularly memorable. Eventually metal ended up getting in my teeth, ears, and clothes.

To me metal expresses energy and passion that surges forth like a tidal wave. A sound with a driving determination that awakens action, and your grandmother.

Most people don't understand the distinction between Rock and Metal. For some reason....

I think most people know the difference when listening to the poster child of each genre. But when you get to fusions it can be harder to identify. I consider fusion metal to still be metal since the same techniques are employed. Some elitists get offended if you aren't specific about their favorite band, though lol.

I don't mind metal actually. I don't mind rock either. Red provides an emotional riffs and bounds. Demon hunter is a melodic metal that I really do enjoy. They provide the depths of blending as well as seeing real life issues and devotions. Also not to mention, and in opinion. Emo kids that liked metal are most atheists. Christian metal provides an escape for them. Again I only speak upon observation not saying every emo is atheist or anything. Just providing an illustration.

I haven't heard much Christian metal, but would say that I'm a fan of Demon Hunter. I've been given the names of other artists to listen to, but haven't yet. Just like any form/genre of music, it's a way to express yourself (and the band). For me, it's not about the type of music, but the message of the lyrics. To me, that's what is important: the meaning of the song, or what you take out of it.

I really enjoy Christian metal. I think it's a great way to get the good news of Jesus' love and grace to non-believing metalheads. You can just pop in a CD and wait to see how the other person reacts, and it's a great witnessing opportunity.

I like some Christian Metal bands. Not a big fan of the scene as a whole though.

I'm getting an "AutoTuned to the max" vibe from that one. *sigh* Everyone just runs the recording through The Box and expects to get a perfect sound.

Don't mind me, I'm just an audiophile. Normal people wouldn't even notice the autotune on that song.
I'm pretty sure Flyleaf don't use AutoTune. It's tacky and Lacey can sing so there's no need.
