All Men Are Broken [Misty Edwards]

The first time I heard this song a few years ago, I burst out into tears and literally listened to it for a week straight. Growing up in an abusive household with my Dad, I had a constant fear of doing that to my future children and I made a point never to have kids when I was younger so the cycle could stop with me. I was the only one in the household that was physically abused by my Dad and so, I felt hated by my Dad and I saw God as hating me. I saw God loving on others and not loving on me, just like how my Dad loved on my brothers, my Mom, and hated me.
Thankfully, God is putting back the broken pieces of my Dad and my relationship. We are on the path of reconciliation. But, this song is still powerful to me as much as it was a few years back.
I'm not like your father
Listen My beloved one
I'm not like your father
'Cause, even the best of them are just broken brothers
Listen, My child
Listen to me, I am not like your father
Why are you putting that on Me?
Listen, listen I'm not like your father
I'm not like your father
'Cause, even the best of them are just broken brothers
Listen
And some of you have been so afraid of repeating the same mistakes that fear has you frozen.
But listen, listen I have the power to change things
And I have the power to make you new
And I have power to rearrange the same old chain
Your babies are my babies. I'm gonna turn everything around.
