There's a huge difference in Christian music and secular. Namely focus rather than abstract application. Which really us relativism . So we don't agree there.

But on a serious note, I used to listen to this music, and your right or totally rocks! Having said that, I just looked up the meaning on this song. My heart literally aches right now. This is the song writer's personal fall from grace, literally. (Who's the lead singer)

His christian dad abandoned the family when he was 13,of course leaving them with nothing. After he regularly read the bible to him, and of course all the while declaring his faith in God. Then three years later his mother died, so there's more bitterness. To top it off, his christian grandparent told him just to trust God and never helped his mom or r took her to the hospital, so she died.. this is a culmination of bitterness towards God and His people. I literally have a weight in my heart.

I always say, no one seems to do more damage than backsliding Christians.

Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
James 3:10*-‬11 NKJV
http://bible.com/114/jas.3.10-11.NKJV
That may have been true at one time. But James Hetfield said it's a song of redemption and forgiveness and that it's meaning very personal to him. He said, "You can't forgive others until you can accept forgiveness yourself."

And by the way, backsliding Christians and secular music is not found in the Word of God because they don't exist. When God calls a man, he doesn't let go and he completes what he starts in that man. God is faithful.

I don't think that your interpretation of scripture as it connects with this topic is entirely accurate.

But when we choose there are consequences that God let's or causes to happen, but that doesn't mean He desired the outcome, He just adjusts and works with it, because He's awesome.

But it still isn't what it could've been.

I don't have any interpretation of scripture that I rely on. I just ask God things.

As for the topic of this thread, the op asked what music we were listening to. You're the one who is off topic. Your posts are better suited for the Bible Discussion Forum, perhaps. Or the Family Forum maybe. How about the Prayer Room? You could start a thread to pray for entertainers. :)

You say your heart is heavy for the Metallica singer. Well what about how you're treating our beloved sister Huglife? You called her a dude, you're putting a guilt trip on her & saying it's demonic to listen to a song. How come no mercy for her?

You seem to be going ‘round the threads hunting for faults in others. That’s not nice, lv2ski. You need to learn to trust God for other folks.

Can we please not derail this thread any longer and just let people post their music? Thanks!

Awesome song! :D

Wow.... did you even hear the song? It's a metaphor of how society [corporations, religious extremists, the world] is like a matrix that tries to control people's lives and makes them feel guilty for being the unique people God created them to be. It's saying if you don't conform to the world, you're not acceptable, you're "dubbed unforgiven". It's not saying God won't forgive you. :p

Ya know, people can listen to anything, music, people’s voices, the wind & the rain, even their own breath, with Jesus in mind. There is no such thing as "Christian vs Secular" music ~ The earth is the Lord’s and everything that’s in it. [Psalm 24:1] That’s the undeniable truth!
That's an awesome, profound Psalm. I'm pondering that right now.

Seriously, work on being nice to folks instead of criticizing 'em.

Psalms 42:1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after thee
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship thee

Chorus
You alone are my strength my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship thee

You're my friend and You are my brother,
Even though you are a king.
I love you more thank any other,
So much more than anything.

I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy Giver,
And the apple of my eye.

This song is about a man in love with a woman who hasn't accepted Christ but he's hoping she does.

I wasn't mean to her, I'm just not ok with standing by letting someone drink poison. Which is very christian.

Examine your own posts, you are the critic. You don't understand mercy, bc it goes with truth and pardons punishment, but includes loving kindness.

I'm not looking for faults as you judge, rather I find a topic that interests me and check it, but when something unbiblical comes up, as a man of God on "Christian " discussion, I'm obligated to establish the truth. But I've noticed that's often times not welcome. God's Word. Also, I wasn't striving about the Law. Please think before you speak. It's just religious blather! So blather on!

Now we can be over it.
