The 15th Antiphon is the debut release on Occultation Recordings by A Glass Darkly, a new musical project formed by Jon Egan (a founder member of The Revolutionary Army of The Infant Jesus). The recording features vocalist Alison Sailer and cellist Lizzie Elliot (another former RAIJ collaborator) and was recorded live at the Orthodox Church of St Elizabeth The New Martyr in Wallasey near Liverpool.
The recording is a setting of an Orthodox Liturgical Chant for Good Friday and all proceeds from the release will go to Habitat for Humanity’s work providing aid and shelter to refugees from the war in Ukraine.
Jon Egan explained;
“The piece was our response to the appalling humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine and the suffering that is being endured by so many innocent people. The words of the Antiphon have a direct applicability to what is happening in Ukraine and its devastating and tragic impact.
“For Orthodox Christians every human person is a Living Icon of Christ and every innocent death and act of violence is therefore another Golgotha.”
Everyone involved in the recording, and the production of the accompanying film, has waived royalties and fees including Occultation Recordings, Opus Media (who filmed the recording) and Getty Images.
