Must be different in America, but in Australia Bikers are organised criminal gangs dealing in drugs, prostitution and murder.

breed disharmony?
i know you answered honestly.
and i honestly disagreed.
that's not acceptable in your call for 'unity'?
Silly me, I was under the impression you wanted to discuss ways / methods by which we can counter christian apathy.
So I listed one politician who, from personal experience with, I believed would be an example of elected official that reflected christian values.
Your response was more along the lines of ~Well, there are no trustworthy politicians anyway - so why bother?~

See, the problem still exists, apathetic christians.

So, with any problem you:
#1-identify the problem
#2-come up with solutions to the problem
#3-act on those solutions

So zone, bikers - even those from diverse belief systems can UNIFY together to accomplish a beneficial goal. Not all biker ministries minister to the same contingent. Every biker ministry has a specifc ~target~ group that they attempt to reach for the Lord. But when a need is detected, we UNIFY together to address that need and meet it.

A secular example of this is the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride For Kids. I list this as it is a national event easily researched online that for the past 30 years has collected tens of millions of dollars for fighting this affliction.
Another secular example would be biker toy runs. Google this and see what the results are!
(I did it for you, since it seems NO ONE follows up with links I post or information I cite. It displays 5,940,000 results!)
The outcome of these runs are children who would NOT be getting any thing for Christmas at least receiving something.
I have seen full grown men (bikers) at one of these events where the recipients (the kids) were present, break down in tears.

A christian illustration of this would be the Wheels of Grace UNITY Ride who's sole purpose was to bring together christian bikers from across the nation in a one day celebration of Jesus Christ.

So, zone, if you want to discuss solutions to eliminating christian apathy I'm your guy! ;)
However, if you wish to only disparage bikers or any possible solutions (or me - as a few have already done [not saying you]) then this thread merely becomes the same as practically every other one I've seen on this site:
A He said / They said back and forth with no resolutions to anything, just continued disharmony. Which does nothing to build up or edify the believers in Christ and definately does nothing to combat christian apathy.

A crisis of your own doing is not a way you should go to try to wake up Christian Apathy. You just end up being part of the problem rather than part of the solution. See what Jesus did you to snap people out of apathy.

the great commission isn't about any of that stuff on that site.
christians have liberty to be politically active if they choose to.
to give of their time and money to charities, to serve their neighbors in helping vocations.
millions do.

if you're talking about politics (911 biker muslim rally type thing)
i am pro-self defense for the individual and the family, but totally antiwar.
i'm anti-revolution, and not particulary fond of out-there-in-the-street protests, unless it would be something directly related to the church being attacked.

education is a good thing. more christian schools would be good.
and hospitals. the catholics had a lot of hospitals at one time.

preach the gospel and make disciples - that's what we're called to do.

AN UPDATED AND MORE CONCISE REPORT OF WHAT OCCURRED

“2 MILLION BIKERS TO DC” TRUMPS “MILLION MUSLIM MARCH”
A few dozen demonstrators attending a rally on the National Mall, once billed as the “Million Muslim March”, were vastly outnumbered by hundreds of thousands of motorcycle riders from across America participating in the “2 Million Bikers to DC” ride to honor September 11 victims and to counter the pro-Muslim rally that many said was inappropriate for such a solemn day in U.S. history.

The American Muslim Political Action Committee scheduled the rally to draw attention to what it said is an unfair and ongoing fear of Muslims after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Among the bikers, however, the provocatively scheduled rally was considered an insult to the nearly 3,000 people who died on Sept. 11, 2001, when Islamic terrorists hijacked three commercial jets and crashed them into the World Trade Center buildings in New York and the Pentagon in Arlington. Another hijacked plane headed for Washington, D.C. crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Though the biker gathering fell short of 2 million strong, some estimates ran as high as 880,000 riders, and “What began as an idea on Facebook quickly turned into a national movement thanks to social media and dedicated bikers from around the nation,” wrote the Examiner.com; and as bikers from as far away as the west coast began their journey to D.C., Twitter lit up with photos and videos showing thousands of bikes overflowing out of rest stops and parking lots as the hastily organized ride gained momentum.

So many turned out that plans to have them ride through the streets of the Capital had to be changed, particularly in light of the fact that local authorities denied a permit that would have provided the riders a police escort through traffic *-- a sore spot with organizers who believe the denial was for political purposes.

“We didn’t need a permit in the first place,” National Event Organizer Belinda Bee told a local Fox News station, citing D.C. law; “it shall not be an offense to assemble or parade on a District street, sidewalk, or other public way, or in a District park, without having provided notice or obtained an approved assembly plan.” So the event went on -- legally -- without the permit, although the group apologized to the public that "What could have been a one or two hour ride through” tied up Beltway traffic from early morning into the afternoon.

Co-founders Belinda Bee and “Top Fuel” Bill Williamson credited everyone who helped with the unprecedented success of this year’s ride, and promised another ride next year, “and every year for September 11.”

Not sure what site you are alluding to. Other than than the christian motorcycle ministries I referenced in australia, none of the sites I have posted have been christian sites, if memory serves?
But yes, the Great Commission should be paramount to every christian.

christians have liberty to be politically active if they choose to./QUOTE]

Actually, this topic has come up repeatedly in the Bible Study Chat. If you were to research the scriptures we are not to approach this arena blithely but should be actively involved in our government, as christians. Sadly, prior to the 2012 elections most that I queried were not even going to vote. We now currently see the results of that apathy in our nation.

to give of their time and money to charities, to serve their neighbors in helping vocations.
millions do./QUOTE]

Agree, we (bikers) do, as I have pointed out previously. And as christian bikers we participate in secular events as a means of ~witnessing~. In fact the Christian Motorcyclists Association's motto is: ~Here when you need us!~

i am pro-self defense for the individual and the family/QUOTE]

LOL, you do realize that position places you in the minority (from the comments I have seen) amongst the denizens who frequent this chat ? Not to worry, as I mentioned, a large percentage of bikers are vets/active military and would whole heartedly agree with you.

education is a good thing. more christian schools would be good.
and hospitals. the catholics had a lot of hospitals at one time./QUOTE]

Agree, agree!!!! My children are long past school age but any who ask me I ALWAYS suggest a christian school or home schooling (when possible). And, I will never forget at a biker conference I attended where this biker had established a medical clinic outreach in his community for the impoverished.

preach the gospel and make disciples - that's what we're called to do./QUOTE]

ibid to my first response.

SEE sister, we have a basis for agreement on several points! From this platform we could actually attempt to rally christians together to combat the apathy that currently maligns christianity. I would even let you ride upon the back of my bike and you could hold the Christian Flag high and proud!
