Agreed. Someone in their right mind doesn't do what she did to a grieving family. Thank Christ she didn't choose to fire a gun into the family home.
As for Nicolas Cruz his trial is a travesty.
He pled guilty, which should save the state alot of time due to there being no need for a criminal trial on multiple capital charges.
Ohhh noooo, that would make sense. The court instead has blocked off 16 weeks for not a trial, where the rules of evidence would apply, but rather a 16 week victim impact statement from every willing member of the families of Cruz's victims.
The judge is letting anything the state wants to bring into evidence come before the jury. Regardless of defense objection.
This would be prejudicial and inflammatory at the very least were this a criminal trial proceeding but, because this is not that the jury was driven to the school where the massacre occurred.
A school locked up sealed, for almost 4 years! NEVER SANITIZED! The carnage, the blood and tissues of his victims still spread over all of the different floors and rooms of the school. Nearly 4 summers heat, no AC, no ventillation.
Then the authorities opened that school to let jurors see all that carnage and get hit with those smells.
Likely never would happen in a criminal proceeding. But because this is the impact portion of the case, anything goes. At least according to the behaviors of his judge. And the lack of zealous defense of their client by Cruz's lawyers is aggravating.
Florida's DA and I'd say Governor want that boy dead. They want to inflame this jury so they sentence Cruz to death. All jurors must vote for the death sentence for that to apply.
When imo Cruz should be in a psychiatric facility. Or, sentenced to life w/o parole.
And this is going to go on for 16 weeks! The state tested their case in chief last week. Now the its the defense's turn.
What can they say when they were mostly quiet during the states case.
Cruz is sick and evil. He clearly premeditated this massacre. However, we can't abrogate the justice system because someone thinking themselves to possess the authority to do that in one particular case for their own reasons wants to ''get'' a particular defendant.
Because that then puts the law on trial, and bodes I'll for defendant's in the future. Justice is suppose to be blind, not vindictive.
