First century Christianity, Stalin and Hitler. Be scared too, because God's work happened during the slaughtering of Christians in the 100s of 1000s range, at least three times. More if you start thinking communism in Asia. (The Lord never promised us a rose garden. Nice when he gives us one too, but only one apostle died naturally. All others were killed for their beliefs. Oh, and the one who died of natural causes was also beaten and exiled earlier.)
Hahaha!! Rose garden, as if my life has been on Easy Street. In spite of all the tribulation in my life, God has made me to trust Him.

Are you scared? Don't be. None of us are getting outta this world alive.

Fear is the enemy. The Lord will fight our battles. We can just be still and rest in Him. He's faithful.

yeah you said a mouthful there Depleted

most of my facebook 'friends' (personal page) are liberal and one even really anti-God...but she knows I am a Christian and every once in a while will 'test' me by writing something on a post on my page that she knows might get a knee jerk response

she does not get one though

I used to do all the twitter etc things because I sell what I create, but I stopped it all because it is just not me to self promote like that (nothing against those who do...it's just not me) . my husband does the marketing and pricing, thankfully, and we mainly sell at events and such. he still works full time too...I guess we are busy haha

I have written a number of stories that feature dogs as the characters and had people clamoring for more and someone even going to help promote them (actually I still have a really good 'dog' story kicking around in my brain that someone was going to market but I don't know if I want to do it or not plus I illustrate so that's a plus)

anyway, have you thought of self publishing online? I know a number of people who have done that and done well...markets for just everything these days..you could always try I guess

not minding your business for you..just mentioning it
I'm down to the last few agents. I had one agent tell me close, but no cigar. Another one has the full, but either nothing or no thanks, from the rest. To self-publish well, I'll need to pay for an editor, someone who can format for me, and possibly an illustrator. (Still debating if I DIY, or hire one.) Little problem. No money, so I'll have to raise that money too.

And back to marketing. (Thankfully, I had my own business, so marketing is something I like doing.) Still require FB and Twitter to do that too.

I don't believe at all that he was not aware of the so called 'breach'. he has been actively doing it since conception...and you prob know it was not even his conception

he's a stinker (family friendly forum) to put it mildly and you know he is lying when he starts talking :p

he has banned people for scraping personal info (without his permission) going years back. always about the $$$. I never did it, but you used to be able to purchase apps that would do it for you...all in the name of making money for whatever it was you were trying to sell on fb

I know a bit of inside stuff on how things go because I used to belong to an outfit out of the UK with regards to using WordPress so learned quite a bit about security etc, but I don't use WP anymore because it is actually impossible to have a 100% secure site and I have had a couple of sites hacked, including 'brute force' attempts from eastern block countries (which was ridiculous, but they want to piggy back off your site for their endeavors at hacking others)...had my pc hacked with a 3rd party 'using' it and had to hire a firm to get me out of that mess ...I could go on...but the thing is, everyone can just forget privacy. nothing is truly secure.

I only use platforms for my 2 sites with a company that does all the work with regards to security etc. these days, you can create beautiful sites without needing WP anyway...most beautiful sites are either using WP or a platform that provides themes in which you can do basically the same with a little html5 or hire someone

alot of blah blah blah I guess, but I would not ever put my opinions on fb or any similar platform and people keep on keeping on doing it anyway as though they were having a chat with their best friend. I have no politics there and really would like to just move on from it but I understand why business or 'public personas' use it and that's fine
When I first joined FB, I read an article in Reader's Digest about them. Apparently, it was legal for businesses that paid for FB space to take any photo any user posted for business purposes. One man found out the hard way. He put a photo of his wife up. Next day her photo was being used for a dating site.

Yeah, Zuckerberg didn't know his site was being used by Russians? I bet he can account for every cent spend to do just that. Gee, Russians use his site? Next thing you know, we'll learn Walmart does too.

I mean, Facebook is a private company. They have the right to "censor" anything they see fit.
No they do not. Unless there are valid reasons for censorship, FB is a medium for people to express their views. Zukerberg is another Left-Liberal who has donated big bucks to Democrats. They have also promoted anti-Trump sentiment. Therefore FB has a motive for suppressing conservative views, and they have done so.
From what I heard, they said it was a mistake and not normally their proper protocol to do what they did to Diamond and Silk...
After having his feet held to the fire, Zukerberg is trying to back-track. That's all.
Facebook isn't a "right" to anyone, liberal or conservative...
That's not even the issue. But the right to free speech is the issue.

To get back to the matter of liberals in general "cutting off free speech", that is a given. This whole business about laws regulating "hate speech" is a ploy to prevent people from expressing views which are against Leftist ideas. "Political correctness" also originated from the Left, but everyone went along with it. So Left-Liberals are now showing their true colors which are basically Communistic. Therefore they are attacking the first and second Amendments, and there are actual Communists working day and night to undermine America and the constitution.

A lot of us have forgotten what Mom taught us... If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all (wonder if this meant Mom was trying to be politically correct?).

Bias and wanting to shut up one side or the other is full blown everywhere.

You want to hear what you want to hear turn on your right or left news station they abound plenty on both sides. We are all spinning our wheels and getting no where....

Fake news or real news we all are the judge.... Both side want the other one to shut up.

How many colleges have you heard of lately that rioted and burned their own campus to prevent a liberal from speaking ? How many companies have you seen on the news that are preventing liberals from speaking or firing liberals for no good reason ? If you cannot see that liberal bias far surpasses any conservative bias throughout the country, that is no indication that it doesn't exist.

From what I heard, they said it was a mistake and not normally their proper protocol to do what they did to Diamond and Silk... regardless, they have the right to do as they wish seeing as their product is "opt-in". Facebook isn't a "right" to anyone, liberal or conservative...

I say this and I hate social media... I never thought I'd "defend" Facebook... something I despise so much, but the libertarian in me says people are becoming way too entitled. I see it no differently than being on this site... If I do something, or even if I don't do anything wrong at all, here and I'm removed... or perhaps this very post is removed, I have the option to discontinue coming here. No one is forcing me to come to ChristianChat and post in the forums... nor is it a God-given right for me to have an account here and post.
A company cannot legally just do anything they wish. Have you not heard of discrimination laws based upon ones beliefs ? Does the "libertarian" in you wish to abolish all discrimination laws or make them not applicable to businesses ?

What we are seeing in the Western world are two things happening simultaneously: (1) the rise of Fascism and (2) support for Sharia Law (which is the Muslim equivalent of Fascism). The forcible suppression of opposition to Left-Liberal and Radical Muslim views is happening right across America. It has already happened in the UK and Western Europe.

Very true. Liberalism, Fascism, Socialism, Feminism and the introduction of Islam are all destroying America. They all go against the word of God and will work to destroy the prosperity of any nation. The big money in America now favors Socialism, Globalism and total annihilation of free speech. Not to mention the constant surveillance and tracking of each and every individual in the population.

This is sort of the entitlement mentality that I am speaking about. Facebook doesn't owe anyone "the right to free speech". That's like saying ChristianChat.com can't censor my posts if I teach something that they consider is heretical... Umm, ChristianChat.com, just like Facebook, is an opt-in service... they can do anything they wish as it's their right, NOT mine. You can say it SHOULDN'T be this way all you want, but it doesn't change anything. If you feel they are "discriminating" for this, by all means, take them the court. You can sue anyone for just about any reason... good luck winning your case though.

I think Zuckerberg is a creep. Aside from their crooked info leaks, where I agree with you is that they do limit people's speech. Where we differ is that I think it's their right. It's an opt-in FREE service, meaning, if you're discriminated against, or they are discriminating against a group of people you identify with, you are free to leave at any time. I don't even think people know what they are agreeing to when they sign up for Facebook.

The thing I had a good laugh at was when Zuckerberg was asked by Senator Ted Cruz if he considers Facebook a neutral medium (as you imply). Unquestionably, he snakes out of just telling the truth. Everyone knows Facebook is left-leaning. They can and do suppress conservative news feeds, expose conservative only politicians, ignore liberal politicians corruptions, etc... They should at least have the decency to admit they are very much a partisan company... no one buys they are neutral. So, I'm not surprised they censor... one of the 50 billion reasons I don't have a Facebook.

Strawman argument... I never made an argument that a company can do "anything they wish." I mean, you quoted my post... I clearly said "they have the right to "censor" anything they see fit." They do... This isn't me saying I'm glad they do this... this is me recognizing they have the legal right to do it. Just because I acknowledge they are legally able/allowed to do something doesn't mean I'm in support of it... in fact, I'm personally against it but understand my personal views don't and shouldn't override a company's right to represent itself.

And to answer your question "does the libertarian in me wish to abolish all discrimination laws"... If it were up to me, discrimination laws would only apply to public sector institutions and NOT privately owned institutions. If I had a bakery and I wanted to refuse service to a homosexual couple's request to make them a cake, it OUGHT to be my right to do so. Personally, I should have the right to discriminate against homosexuality if I'm the one paying the bills to run my business.

To elaborate further, lets say I had a bakery in San Francisco, the gay capital of the US, I'd be willing to take the hit financially from people boycotting my discrimination of sin (homosexuality) if I was allowed to control my business how I see fit. I would know the consequences of my actions would lose me many costumers to the point my business may not even be viable. Consumers should have the right to boycott my bakery because I won't make a cake with two women or two men on it... just as I should have the right to refuse service. It's a rather moot question/point though...

This goes back to liberals and conservatives having another thing in common (other than their entitlement mentality)... I'm seeing more "conservatives" want/expect the government to regulate things like this. We are suppose to be the group that wants LESS government control over our lives, not more... When I was a kid I associated government having more authority/involvement in our lives with the liberal party, now, I'm seeing more and more conservatives following in their footsteps only they want the government to get involved in something THEY personally disagree with. It's a shame.

Laura Imgraham's tweets:

I really feel sorry for the kid. He has no idea he's being played. He thinks he's the one playing the world.

He talks about the debt of going to college, and yet applied to universities across the country. Clearly, his parents can afford it. The flying alone, (to go to school and then come home for weekends, breaks or semesters), would have stopped most of my classmates from even applying to such schools with full-rides.

He has a 4.2 and got rejected? I had a 2.8 and was accepted into every college I applied to. The difference? Inheritance from Mom dying and my dad was paying for it, so I applied to schools he didn't mind paying for -- every single state college in New Jersey that didn't cost an arm and a leg to go to. (Which means, the two colleges in Jersey you can think of -- Princeton and Rutgers -- were the only two colleges I didn't apply to. lol)

Yup, he's playing the victim here, and yet the schools made their decisions before they ever heard who he was. And still, he thinks he started a movement. What movement? Anti-gun? That one has been going for as long as I can remember. It was called "The Peace Movement" back then. lol

Poor kid. He thinks he's a major player, and yet, he's nothing more than an expendable pawn in the real game. I really do feel sorry for him. He just said college isn't that important now, and yet, he has no idea he won't be that important before the new school year starts.

No expectations of getting out of here alive. But given we're still recovering from hubby being in the hospital or rehab for 7 months, and I'm watching the perceptible downward decline in both of us, it's how hard the dying part could be that scares me.

You are telling the reality of what we will face in our life, but to the young ones that are counting on a rapture to pull them out of the hard stuff? Those are the ones I'm reminding of exactly what God puts his own people through. We still have it good in America. There's a long way from good to bad, but God also never promised us America.

The mainstream media has their prince in Hoggs... a person who can say anything and everything, even if it's untrue, and we aren't allowed to criticize him because he's "a kid" and because "he survived Parkland." The best strategy is to not respond to anything this kid says. Laura got baited pretty hard (and in my mind, should have known better)... this should be a learning experience for everyone.

They abound everywhere? Really? I live in Philadelphia and can't afford cable. Where's my right-winged news?

It's so bad here, that you have to dig deep and use your memory to see the full story. Our mayor and city council, (btw, not a single Republican politician in this whole town, including judges, and our DA isn't really a liberal. He's an anarchist. Before this job, he was hired by Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter. Now he's simply not prosecuting thugs), came up with a 1.5% per ounce sweetener tax. Make no mistake. That word is "sweetener," not "sugar," and enhanced water and almond milk is sweetened. The promise was first all the money would go to school children. Then, before it was passed, it dwindled down to some of it would be used for preschools, giving "200 new jobs" and "our kids a fighting chance before going to kindergarten." They expected $90 million a month for city coffers.

15 months later. 16% income lost to in-city grocery stores, 100 lost jobs from Pepsi because very few are buying soda, many mom and pop corner stores have folded, as have pizzerias, and what does the news report boldly 15 months later? The city made $45 million from that tax last year.

Scroll up a paragraph. They were expecting $90 million a month, but they got $45 million in the first year. Not enough to fund preschool, but no one mentions that was the original plan. They got 0 new jobs, because those preschools were already up and running privately. The only thing the "soda tax" was supposed to do was help fund them. So, do you want your child in preschool? Great! Pay for it! $45 million in new taxes and they can't even tell how they spent it. They don't have to. After all, it's nothing but leftist news, and they don't ask. They simply herald our mayor as a marvelous guy, based on absolutely nothing.

And, do understand. THAT would be the "news" you'd read in this city, because that is your side of the aisle. Is that good enough for you, even liking left-winged news?

If you don't want bias. If you don't want any news, then you have a point. But this bias tilted to left-winged so hard, there is no news anymore, even if you are a Democrat!

I went to college when they were still teaching how to write news articles with as little bias as possible. We had to do that or fail the class. It still has a sound to it, and that old sound was captured in the background of a Simon and Garfunkel song long ago. It sounded like this:

(Note: Still biased, and yet, at least they reported the news.)

Actually, a company can choose to do whatever it wants in this country. FB and Twitter's hiring practices are monitored, but their users aren't being hired. Users are neither the company nor the service provided. Users are what makes the service provided worth it. The service provided is marketing, so their customers are those who advertise on them.

This is basic good old-fashioned American capitalism.

They have every right to refuse whomever they want, just as I did when I had a home-based business.

Are you communist?

(My gripe is there is no major social media site that leans towards right-winged users and advertisers.)
