There is no new thing under the sun, that which hath been is that which shall be.

AI is not new. Just "experts" trying to tell you how to think dressed up in a new suit.

In 2016 AlphaGo trained itself to become the best Go player on the planet. It did that by playing against itself. In the end you need data to train AI, "big data" results in effective AI. But they know how once they get to the 85% level to take it rapidly in a matter of months to the 99% level. They are already at the 85% level now.

They also know that if they are going to have maximum impact they want the change to be sudden. This is why we had the plandemic and the planned food shortages. They want to hit us hard and fast and so that no one can afford to not submit to their rule. This is a well organized attack. We have seen what has happened in China as a result of 3d printers and other smart machines. But it is much easier to replace jobs that can be done by software. They can step in and replace hundreds, even thousands of employees in a weekend.

They also want the deep fakes and manipulation and Tik Tok to scare everyone into getting a digital passport -- the mark of the beast. They will say it is to protect you from the bots, but in reality it is to protect them from you.

Hard Takeoff Inevitable? Causes, Constraints, Race Conditions - ALL GAS, NO BRAKES! (AI, AGI, ASI!)

Estimates suggest 1.8 million jobs were replaced by AI in the US in the last year. This doesn't mean we have yet seen an increase in unemployment because at the moment we are creating new jobs as fast as we are replacing old ones. No, the key takeaway is that the amount of data that will be collected by the AI this year will be exponentially more by a factor of 2 to 4 times more than was available a year ago. The data determines how fast AI will improve. Also, we now have AI that is capable of replacing a very large portion of the US labor force. If it replaces 6 million in the next 12 months you can expect the rate at which AI will improve to increase that much more.

World's First AGI Agent SHOCKS the Entire Industry! (FULLY Autonomous AI Software Engineer Devin)

6 months ago people thought this would never happen. How much longer before we have a fully autonomous tax preparer, and fully autonomous lawyer and fully autonomous tutor, etc.

AGI DELAYED? Consensus on 2025? Finally, working on a definition of AGI [Autonomy is King!]

What concerns me is when can AI replace 25% of the jobs and do them better and at a fraction of the cost of employees. My thinking is this, regardless of whether or not we can replace 80% of workers this year or next year or the year after, that will not happen until we first replace 25%. These workers do not need creativity, or improvisation, or high IQ or an extensive knowledge base. To me this is when the "landslide" begins. Once we replace those 25% it will continue with the next 25% so that 50% of workers are replaced and then it will continue to 80% until soon all you have left are the owners. I believe right now they have the technology and capability to replace 25% of workers, however, it still takes time. For example, McDonalds already has fully automated restaurants, this demonstrates the concept, identifies bugs to be fixed, and can calculate ROI. After 2-3 months you can roll this out to more and more restaurants around the country. The process of replacing 25% of the workers can take a year. You have to market this, sell it, and then manufacture, distribute and help install. Some applications are easier than others, like an AI receptionists.

But I put this up because those in the know see AGI being here in 2024, 2025 or 2026. Take all those predictions and you have the vast majority of those who are up to date on this topic. My point is it will take us two years to market, sell, manufacture, install, and service these. So from this year for the next two years I see jobs in this country being replaced. We will know for sure this summer if college graduates cannot find work.

What we are seeing now is stores closing down due to theft and crime, but in reality it may simply be an excuse to go digital. It is cheaper and more efficient to have your store online where a warehouse processes orders and ships them. Instead of firing people to be replaced with AI and robots you close down due to crime and put up new online warehouses but don't hire anyone. As a result people blame politicians, crime and policies without realizing they are being replaced by machines.

Yep technology is getting crazy now days,,,

Speaking of crazy,,,we got a mini dachshund a few years back and started teaching him tricks. So far he can jump through hoops, stand on his back legs, go around us in a figure 8 and several other tricks. I've been trying to get him to fetch my newspaper but every time I try to get him to he looks around in the house and the crazy dog comes back with our smart phone...

I am amazed at how few people appreciate how many jobs can be replaced for a fraction of the cost.

1. They brought in these self checkout machines and soon they bought more and more because they are cheaper for the store.

2. Amazon.com and Walmart have both demonstrated they can effectively replace retail sales workers, stockers, etc. You can order online, they load it up and deliver it to your house.

3. Adidas and other shoe companies have automated the process of buying shoes so you can order online, then 3d printers and other machines make your shoes and ship them to you.

4. This is true of much of the manufacturing that was done in China which is why their unemployment is around 50%.

5. Tesla and others are making robots which can service your car, cook your food, and do other menial labor jobs. They can learn how to do the jobs by watching a youtube video.

6. Khan academy has a AI tutor that can tutor kids in any subject they have and probably do it much better than most tutors, it costs $35 a year.

7. McDonald's has a fully automated restaurant that doesn't have any people working there. It has done very well for ROI, you don't need as much land because the restaurant is drive through so you don't need a place for people to sit and eat or for them to park their car. If McDonald's can do this so can all the other franchise restaurants.

8. AI is replacing computer coders by the thousands.

9. AI is scoring at the 85% level on all the college Graduate Record Exams. How many doctors can also score at the top 85% in Math, Law, and accounting? Not only so how many can work four shifts a week with an annual cost around 30k? This is going to replace lawyers, it will replace doctors, it will replace accountants and tax preparers.

10. A company recently replaced the online support personel with AI and they are getting higher marks for customer service.

11. Because many companies are anticipating fewer people being able to do more work with the help of AI they are shrinking their human resources department because they will not be hiring many people in the future.

12. The military uses drones and robots that are operated remotely by people and have been doing so since 9/11. However, all the data from that can be used to train the AI to do the job without an operator. Already Ukraine and Israel are deploying massive numbers of drones that are operated by AI.

13. If they move to digital currency there is no reason to handle cash and that will eliminate the need for bank tellers. Already we have seen many bank branches closed.

14. Recently a song writer said he felt in the very near term all songs will be written by AI.

15. We saw AI make a short video which could have been used for an ad. They said to shoot that would have cost over $1 million, but the AI generated it in a matter of minutes. AI can make music, it can write songs, it can generate video that is realistic or animated, and it can make video games.

You don't have to replace 100% of jobs or even 50% of jobs to have a crisis. Put 25% of people out of work and unemployment will be on par with the Great Depression.

The McDs in your post #522 above has people cooking the food. Has that changed?
China ... unemployment is around 50% (due to AI taking over jobs)
Is that a significant change from before AI doing various jobs?

Just curious...

Grok is reportedly modeled after the 1979 novel by Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
According to (developer) xAI, Grok is a more “rebellious” and sarcastic AI, with a “bit of wit.”

From what I have gathered they have two different designs, one where it is drive through only and one like this where the guy can walk into it. At the moment they are prototypes so a franchise owner wishing to make changes can decide for themselves if they want to do partial or full. They can see the ROI for both and the various issues for both.

As far as China is concerned about a year or two ago it became very difficult for young people to get a job. That was seen as the "lying flat" protest where young people would be seen everywhere just doing nothing, but the reality is they couldn't get a job. Since then the unemployment jumped to 50% in places (definitely a major change for a country where everyone was incredibly industrious and hard working). But in the last few months it seems they have shut off information coming out of China.

After years of the market complaining that Apple is “behind” on artificial intelligence, the company is poised to make a big push in the technology with its platform updates this year. In a rare move, that’s been confirmed by no less than CEO Tim Cook himself, who said in the company’s most recent financial results call that the company would “share the details of our ongoing work in that space later this year.”
