Hypothetical scenario. I am commander-in-chief of America and I have established a dictatorship. I have decided to declare war on my citizens. Rather than bother with taking everyone's guns, I'm just going to cease production of all ammunition. You'll run out eventually
Good thing that out of the hundreds of ammunition factories in the United States, the feds only own 2.

If you go and look a bit, I read an article on military.com several years ago about a study the DoD did on fighting a homeland insurgency. They concluded they would not be effective in stopping it.
The last homeland insurgency in this country was the civil war and that didn't end well. Something about the right of the citizens to bear arms in the Second Amendment.

Cute. I'd ask the girl carrying that out to the prom.

It all depends on which side was the insurgents.

I NEVER date a girl who carries a gun.

It's only a matter of time before I say something really stupid.

What happens when you handcuff the nation’s law enforcement?

President Barack Obama has said he wants to make the issue of race and law enforcement
a priority for his remaining time in office. What will be the outcome of that effort? You can
know just by looking at what has come from his previous statements and actions on this matter.

America’s law enforcement is under attack. On one side people in communities are developing
a mistrustful, hostile, antagonistic attitude, yelling at police, assaulting and even killing officers
in some cases. Police are pulling back from doing their jobs for fear of attack, or losing their jobs
or going to prison for doing anything that could be perceived as racist.

On the other, the federal government is undermining local law enforcement and stripping it of
power in an effort to centralize policing power on the federal level.

You need to recognize just how dangerous these trends really are.

The federal government is fueling people’s mistrust of their local police forces, playing up the
seriousness of these problems. One reason is that this administration is positioning itself to
step in and solve them—while taking more power to itself.

That if police departments want federal money,
they must toe the official Justice Department line and adopt its policies.

The president has people moving into cities and taking over police departments in order to
straighten them out! The federal government is getting more and more control.
It has a stranglehold on the police even now. The Obama administration seems to view each new
prominent race-related police story that explodes into the news as an opportunity to seek more control.

That's just wrong. If an officer performs a traffic stop, and suspects the driver of being DUI, or having contraband, or weapons, the first thing they do is ask the driver to get out of the car.

And if a driver is refusing to cooperate with the simplest of requests from the officer, that is red flag #1. If they become belligerent on top of that, that's red flag #2.

When will people learn, if a police officer asks/tells you to do something... DO it. You may think it's silly to put out a cigarette, but DO it. The way you respond to an officer tells him/her LOTS of things about your condition and temperament... and level of sobriety/legality.
I was stopped once by a police officer and he told me that I was weaving and not driving straight and he asked to exit the car to take a DUI test.
I had just got off work and Knew I wasn't weaving,so I didn't want anyone at work to see me trying to walk an embarrassing so called straight line,so I refused,I told him that I would blow Into that DWI thingy they have but I wasn't going to be the joke of the day to talk about on their break wherever they meet.

He told me not to ever disobey a police and let me go.

He seemed like a sincere cop.I wonder why power goes to their heads like that.

I see now what brothers mean when they got their right to be a man spirituality raped.

Still blind... even when we have the plain video of resistance.

News Flash: Being black doesn't grant one immunity to obeying officers of the law. A white person would have been responded to in the same manner...... IF they were arrogant and defiant enough to think they were above the law.

No. You're missing the whole point. Respecting officers of the law means not shooting at them or ambushing them and respecting their authority as much as is reasonably possible, but they have no business being physically abusive to women. Is a helpless graduate student any match for a fully-armed police officer with guns, tasers, clubs, pepper spray? It's like a soldier apprehending a civilian lady on the battlefield-- and cities have become a battlefield. You're also missing the dynamics of a history of racism in the town where the violent arrest occurred that led to Sandra's death and the fact that men and women are not equal in stature and the same use of force should not be used against women that is used to arrest men. There was no reason that lady had to die alone in an animal cage for a turn-signal violation? Don't people understand this? The issue is justice reform--prison reform, and reform of police policies, not officer reform. They are just doing their jobs and abiding by the policies and procedures that are already established, many of which need to be changed. I have no doubt whatsoever, that another officer that was not a racist, of any race--Indian, native American, Hispanic, Lationo, Mediterranean, Asian, white, etc...-- could have peacefully given Sandra Bland a warning which is all her actions deserved. She was obviously provoked. IF the officer had said, "excuse me ma'am, I'm going to give you a warning for an unsafe lane-change; try and be more careful next time," which is what happens in most other places, Ms. Bland would still be alive today. And I believe that the majority of police officers would agree with that.

Excuse me while I go hurl for a minute... Obama was awful and it was very disrespectful for the Christians of America for him to light up the White House in rainbow colors. There were other things as well, like using tax payers money to help Planned Parenthood. He was a disgrace! Obama's last day 1-20-17 should be recognized as an American Holiday.

"playing up the seriousness of these problems..." ? You don't believe that these issues of abuses of police power are serious? Even if it is only by a few trigger happy inexperienced, incompetent, or over-worked, or even malicious individuals and sub-groups of state employees and cops?
But, it's a two-edged issue: There is no justification whatsoever for targeting innocent officers of the law for the actions of a few, or for outdated, ineffective, and dangerous agency policies. Police officers are only doing their jobs, and the vast majority of them are ethical and honorable defenders of the peace and reasonable laws.

I tend to agree with President-elect Trump, that those who willfully, intentionally, and methodically, target police officers and/or ambush them--the death penalty or life in prison could be considered as options, in theory, but, I have a hard time supporting the death-penalty because of the danger of innocent people being put to death or individuals who might be set-up or black-mailed by unethical agents of the government or wealthy unethical secret-societies or other cults of darkness, some of whom have the funds and training to use sophisticated methods--including coercing vulnerable people--to target innocent citizens. I think the death-penalty might be reserved for those for which there is unmistakeable evidence such as a preponderance of video support and credible witnesses without a history of suspicious activity.

All I wanted to do with my original post was to honor the office of the presidency, and Mr. Obama as a person and his family, not endorse his policies. I felt guilty making a post that seemed to be mocking the outgoing president, referring to "Obama and his drama," "got trumped." The Bible considers a mocking spirit to be serious sin, as well as disrespecting legitimate government authorities. I actively supported Donald Trump and voted for him and am going to celebrate his election, especially after his public repentance for past issues, not just because he is a strong leader who is not afraid to make command decisions, but because of conservative issues of the Republican party--issues that oppose abortion, gay marriage and abuses of government entitlement programs.

yes it is serious matter, but as you point out it is only a very few,
so blame and transform the whole police system because of a few?
let the federal government stepin to help?

the president blames the white police force, before he even has the facts.
He promotes demonstrations to continue in our streets.

"It would be overstating it to say there is no racism among America’s law enforcement
officers. But there are some few people who are scrutinizing and magnifying this issue
for evil purposes. They are using it dishonestly to explain or excuse some terrifyingly
dangerous behavior.

They are stirring up emotion and anger—but none of it is truly intended to solve the problem. "

Every judge, (every juror too, but that would be difficult), every prosecutor and every law enforcement officer should try spending 48 hours in solitary confinement (Aministrative Segregation). Hand cuffed and shackled before you get there, in a room, 7 by 10-13, no personal belongings, everything screwed to the floor, the never ending counts, the noise from other cells. Even though you're doing it voluntarily, it's terrible, and you slowly realize why people are losing their minds in there within hours.
Absolutely. Some of the practices of the soon to be replaced prison and justice system are so archaic and inhuman and unjust, including justice to the highest bidder, that they make ISIS look like security guard dropouts.

There's always a danger that innocent people could be put to death. And, yes. I believe that the majority of police department policies need to be updated to create servants of the law who are servants of the community and the state. The core issue is justice reform. People do not respect the law because many of the laws are not rational or based on reality, and the system of reform and sentencing clearly amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment," under modern definitions of a civilized society which is a violation of the Constitution. And clearly the system favors those who can afford attorneys. The prisons are full of impoverished, low-level drug offenders and other offenders who do not belong in prison but in a locked treatment facility, outpatient program, or on electronic monitoring. Prisons only contribute to crime and social instability and create institutionalized offenders who are permanently dependent on welfare, are often dangerous, if not deadly, to those who are not hardened by crime, and cost the taxpayers billions of dollars.

Police Chief Companello of Massachusetts said it best:

"The war on drugs is over; and we lost.

Further punishing individuals, especially women, who are already suffering from addictions, mental illnesses, abuses related to poverty and an ineffective justice system often inaccessible to the poor, that makes it almost impossible to prosecute abusers-- this amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment."
