How will this help?
If my productivity is 2 or 3 times that of others, shouldn't I be paid 2 or 3 times that of others?
If not, why should I continue to work so hard. Maby I will just work at the rate I am paid.
Exactly. That's the mindset of socialism. Work max. 36 hours a week, lot of free time, cheap houses, cheap cars, president doesn't get so much income. Everybody happy.

My teens and early twenties coincided with the 1960s. During that period I had extreme left wing beliefs. I protested about Vietnam, had a Che Guevara Poster on my bedroom wall and owned an English translation of the thoughts of Chairman Mao. I am no longer that person. As we go through life and gain experience our view of the world undergoes many changes. One thing we should all avoid is to steriotype a certain age group. We are all individuals but at different stages in lifes journey.
Funny how having to pay for things made you a little less liberal.

At one time, even I was young and idealistic. By the time I had graduated basic training, I thought I had it ALL figured out. There wasn't anyone on this Earth who could tell me a thing. Did I ever have to grow up fast though. Combat will do that to you whether you want it or not. Drastic, life-altering experiences alter a man's perceptions about the world and his place in it. Once I got into college, things altered even more because I realized that my primary schooling was for nothing, and college was my opportunity to learn how to learn - learn how to look for valid sources of information; learn facts from hearsay; not to think in 2-dimensions or to only look at the world in black/white terms like so much of the world does.

Now, a few people have taken the opportunity to somehow, sort of kind of apologize for labeling the younger generation, but I'm not going to do that. I'm not sorry for the conclusions I draw about 20-somethings, and I'll explain why. No person on this Earth is OWED any respect. With me, you all - every single one of you - must earn it. You earn it through your words and deeds, and it has been my life's experience that the overwhelming majority of 20-somethings have never done anything with their lives worthy of my recognition, nor can they speak in terms to demonstrate anything more than the slightest inklings of higher brain function. I say this because I remember very well what it was like to be that age and to think I had it all figured out, and I remember the shock it was to my paradigm when I discovered that the older generation weren't the senile old farts I took them for.

I might stop trolling the youngsters, but I'm keeping them on a short leash. They have a lot to learn and a lot to prove.

This isn't a war between generations and I'm repulsed by the disrespect and belittling younger generations get. ANYONE of ANY age that is willfully ignorant and refusing to bend in the face of evidence is the same, doesn't matter if you're 16 or 61. I'm not a socialist, but there are in fact many great things that can come from a more socialistic perspective in a country. Much of the USA is already "socialized". "Socialism" should not be a "bad word". We should embrace idea's from all cultures and people, not unlike how we've embraced their foods and lifestyles. Some of us have a lot to learn, and I don't think the answers are in the ignorant, bigoted, gun-toting conservatives driving their tractors and frying sum grits. We should all try and learn from each other, and if there is a good idea, like universal healthcare for example, we should do it! So many other first world countries are much happier with some of their "socialized" systems. Again, I'm not a socialist, but I know when I need to come to the defense of certain ideas that get bullied out of fear, not reason.

You're a disgusting, elitist snob. Any more bigotry you care to share with the "bowels" of society?

I'm tentatively posting this, but here I go:

Now, a few people have taken the opportunity to somehow, sort of kind of apologize for labeling the younger generation, but I'm not going to do that. I'm not sorry for the conclusions I draw about 20-somethings, and I'll explain why. No person on this Earth is OWED any respect.
How do you define respect, are there different "kinds" of respect and how does someone earn it?

With me, you all - every single one of you - must earn it. You earn it through your words and deeds,
Saying nice things? Earning a living? Being generous? Changing their minds? Could you be more specific?

I think everyone deserves a very base level of dignity, or respect, as a fellow being made in the IMAGE OF GOD... because someone is made in the image of God, they are warranted a very base respect, bar none. But higher respect, they work for, in a sense.

and it has been my life's experience that the overwhelming majority of 20-somethings have never done anything with their lives worthy of my recognition,
Unless you've been all over, your experience is limited, which is why people take issue with generalizations. Generalizations usually exist because there's a bit of truth to them, but they usually create more barriers between people, than do any constructive informing.

I've never seen anyone belittle and insult people as much as you, Utah. You are a bully that cannot handle anything that differs from your perspective. The definition of a bigot. I'm glad you caught eye to this, it was intended for people like you with all the mean comments you've been giving. You seem like the one who is a "disgusting elitist snob".

I thank God I have different perspectives than you, that's for sure. I stand by my words.

You clearly think you're better than others. Your own words constantly condemn you of this.

I'm sure God likes when you call people names and act the way you do. Oh well, you'll have to answer to Him someday. You have a bad attitude, my friend.

I don't think I'm better than anyway. I've met lots of great people on this site, people far better than myself. I won't hesitate to correct an error when I see one, however. Whether in biology or whatever.

Maybe you think you're better than others and that's why you follow in the footsteps of Trump and name call and insult like a 3rd grader. You're cocky. I'm done speaking to you.

Let me get this right.
I have a tractor. I have several guns. I eat grits. You left off some other facts about me.

I also drive a pick-up truck and I live in Arkansas.
I work with my hands to support my family and my church.
I pay taxes to support those who do not work.
I bulit a house for my family with these hands and the money I made from honest work.
Shall I continue with all my evil traits.

No doubt about it, by your definition, I must be an ignorant bigot.

I grew up in a family that labeled you. I was told I was stupid, selfish, that I'd never amount to anything. I was told I didn't care about anyone but myself. I was basically told to be different than I was so that the adults in my life could be happy or comfortable or whatever. I internalized so much of it even though I have amounted to something. The thing about the tongue is that it is wicked. Now that I have a child of my own I use mine to build him up and to speak life and love into him. Today I asked my boy if there was anything that hurts his heart. He said that there is a kid at school that teases him for being small. Words can hurt or heal and words are seldom neutral. I want my words to bring life.

(1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.) Some, like myself, mature mentally, a little slower than others. I've always been a conservative, but tweaked my idea of it some as I finally aged. Socialism may seem to have worked well for the people of Europe, but the constant help that the people got has caused them to lose it, because of a government, whose financial back was broken by the strain of less and less well off workers paying for more and more healthy slackers. (2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”) It has seemed to me that Socialists are trying to make governments their god, so that all of the good stuff that the bible says should be done for others, can be forced upon everyone now. They don't realize that only the real God can cause that and not by force, but by love.

Consistent. Friendly. I've disagreed with you twice(?), but you're invariably respectful when you do disagree. With me at least. :p

Also, if anyone is under the apprehension that socialists are happier see the following:

1. They live under the US Security Umbrella.

2. Wait.

Hahahaha....We have something to prove? What?! I don't have to prove myself to you. What is this an inventors guild? I give everyone on the forum equal amounts of respect and allow them to disagree with my ideas. That's fine they have the right to it. But you like to have mass generalizations and seem sour b/c some 20yr old person maybe has done something to you to offend you? Thereby, painting all people in their 20's as not worth respect, thinking they know it all etc...

I admit I don't know it all and neither do you. By not respecting other's opinions you are guilty of that which you accuse the younger generation of. You can keep your stupid leash for yourself as I have lost all respect for you with your name-calling and insulting posts and once I lose respect for a person it's hard as heck to get it back. So in effect I shall apply your own logic of respect to you, and not have any for you anymore.

Luke 12:51 "Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!"

I don't think this is the division Christ was advocating when one generation wages war with another generation where instead of bullets and bombs, blame and contempt are fired.

There is plenty of blame to go around for everyone. Did the millennials raise themselves? Did millennials cause the 2008 economic disaster? Did they screw social security? What good would it be for millennials to blame the baby boomers for their short comings? Is it going to make the problems disappear? Or would uniting (working together) to tackle life's challenges be more effective than pointing fingers?
