People who think God is in the making people suffer business must have had mean, childish, selfish parents that lacked self control.

Yes, we do often equate the treatment we received as children to what we expect God to be.

Call me a heretic but I don't see God that way and I can't imagine pouring out any wrath on my child. Is God no better than me? The way I see it, love is the most effective weapon in Gods arsenal.

'The goodness of the Lord leads men to repentance'
The Word also says that "godly sorrow leads to repentance" (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Wonder why the seeker sensitive church never quotes this one???

It also says that forced sorrow leads to death. What is Godly sorrow if it isn't a person getting there on their own?

Who said anything about forced sorrow? If a person does not recognize their sin, confess it and repent of it... they are continuing in their sin and are on the hook for their sin even though the Lord has provided His Blood to be available to wash that sin way.

It's not like Christians should be the taliban and beat people in to submission... but we should teach God's Word, so i we are going to quote that the goodness of God leads to repentance, we need to also quote that Godly sorrow leads to repentance because God said that as well and it is part of the conversation.

Unless of course we want to be cherry pickers

No, God is not "making" people suffer.... He is simply allowing them to reap what they sow

Galatians 6:7,8
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Now way to get rid of that - Scriptures that speak of sowing and reaping - Genesis 8:22, Mark 4:26, Matthew 13:24, Galatians 6:7,8 and Romans 5:14-21 demonstrates how seedtime harvest causes things to produce after it's own kind whether it's good producing good, or evil producing evil.

Mankind is just too blind and stupid to obey the Lord and be led by His Spirit, sowing to the Spirit so we can reap life... instead, blind mankind be all about sowing to the flesh reaping corruption leading to destruction

Sure, I'll quote the entire Bible next time

2 Corinthians 7:8-11
For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Apparently, there is "sorrow after a godly sort"

So....what do you think Godly sorrow is?

Understanding that we did something wong and we should confess it and repent from it.

You know, admit it and quit it!

God is not interested in beating us up for our sin... He wants us to walk away from sin and quit it.

If a person is not sorry for their sin... why should they quit the sin?

i think it's more than that and that its end result is connection. Connecting to the heart of God and the hearts of people around you. It's about giving and receiving love. One can "understand" and say sorry for something they have done done but Godly sorrow is not wanting to disappoint God or someone else because you love Him and them. Godly sorrow is both tender and based on connection and honesty.

Of course it's more than just stopping the sin.... the purpose of our existence is allowing the Lord to live in us and walk in us (2 Corinthians 6:16).

He created us to share Himself with us and who are we to not allow Him to have His way in our life?

The false grace crowd thinks God just wants to forgive us and it matters not whether we walk with Him or not. They're going to be shocked to find themselves on the wide road that leads to destruction rather than the narrow road that leads to life that few find that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7:13

I think the retribution crowd is gonna be shocked by how much sorrow they have forced on people and how much death it has caused.

I think a lot of Christians are gonna be shocked by who they see in Heaven.

I dont personally believe that Trump has been chosen by God. I mean I just dont see it. I mean its not that I believe that if He had chosen someone, that person would have to be perfectly righteous in every way or anything : p But I dunno, I just dont feel that He has been chosen at all.
I did watch Trey Smith's video on how Trump is biblical prophecy (well just the video about the video, it was an hour long though : p). And I didnt think there was really anything biblical in the film tbh : p
(Not that I hate Trey Smith or anything)

But, I am going to vote for Trump. I am not going to wait for that one person that I believe God has raised up : p Of course I place all of my trust in Him and all that, but I dont believe that God personally raises every leader who ever existed ever. I have the right to vote in my country for who I think is the better candidate, and I plan to exercise my right. And I dont want Hilary to be my next president : p

Psalm 75:7. God puts down one and sets up another.

Daniel 2:21 ...He removes kings and sets up kings...

And, maybe who they DON'T see................... or even, where they unexpectedly find themselves?

That's going to be a tough one, when starting the final elevator ride and it's down bound.
