Ezekiel 38 states that Russia & Iran will invade Israel through Syria to be followed by Turkey and supported by a few other countries. As the missiles have begun flying it looks like they've taken their strategies & motives right out of the Bible. Also, Isaiah 17 may be fulfilled before or during all the fighting. This time God is Israel's only ally...no US involvement at all. What will have happened to the US?

Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its young lions will say to you,
‘Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?’

here in Ezekiel 38 Tarshish & her young lions just talk, they don't do anything to stop the invasion.

Sounds like our current poor excuse for a government.

Israel vs. Iran: Winds of War in Jerusalem – With Backing From Washington - NOT

They will come to take the abundance of Israel's natural resources and superior technology, yet even though Israel could take out both Russia & Iran, God desires to make Himself known to the world.

"And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord."

That was quite an introductory post. I'm not sure that the few missile flying into Syria has a whole lot to do with Israel though. This might be a good topic in the Bible Discussion Forum for further discussion. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

I wouldnt be suprised to see Damascus being flattened by someone in the very near future. It could be a excuse for an attack on Israel whether its them that flatten it or not.

I been thinking on this, Tarshish and her young lions, and makes me wonder if it is in relation to the United Kingdom and the other countries that are associated with the British Empire?

I agree...many parts of Damascus have been destroyed already and things are just beginning to heat up.

Apparently, few know the Bible or world history, or are contentious. Just for the record (Per Ezekiel 38) God will destroy Iran, Russia, Syria, and anyone else that attempts to join in against Israel...and Damascus will be uninhabitable...please read the Word..

I have read the word. According to the book of Revelation, Ezekiel 38-39 will be fulfilled at the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ (Gog Magog)

There are two aspects to Isaiah 17 that show it has been fulfilled:

1. The annals of Tiglath-pileser who destroyed Damascus in 732 BC so thoroughly that he compared its destruction to the flood.

“I took 800 people together with their property, their cattle (and) their sheep as spoil. I took 750 captives of the cities of Kurussa (and) Sama (as well as) 550 captives from the city of Metuna as spoil. I destroyed 591 cities from the 16 districts of Damascus like ruins from the Flood.”
2. Isaiah 17 mentions the destruction of Israel more than it does Damascus. That happened 10 years later in 722 BC.

Isaiah 17 was fulfilled over 2700 years ago.
Not all of it Damascus has never become a heap of ruins in the whole of its history up till now. Also the Bible often uses the name of a leading city to signify a whole land or nation. How much of Syria is still intact today?

In Ezekiel 38 it describes the situation in Israel in the time of this invasion as::

Ezekiel 38: KJV
10 "Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: {11} And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, {12} To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land."

Because of this i do not believe the prophecy is talking of the Israel of today, But it is talking about the Millenial Kingdom when it is nearing it's end..

In the Book of Revelation, After the 1000 years are ended satan will be released out of the bottomless pit and will go out to decieve the nations Gog and Magog and lead them to attack the kingdom.. Gog and Magog are mentioned in both Ezekiel 38 and in Revelation 20..

Revelation 20: KJV
7 "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, {8} And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea."

Ezekiel also declares that these nations will be visited during these times..

Ezekiel 38: KJV
8 "¶ After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them."

So i believe the one who will visist gog and magog will be the released satan who will decieve gog and magog to bring them to Jerusalem to be destroyed by Gods intervention, by fire..

Whats happening now could be a kind of dress rehearsal. A number of similarities can be seen between both books. Ezekiel appears to provide a kind of template for Revelation.

the Bible reveals that the Creator God can cause volcanoes to erupt:
“Mountains have shaken because of Him, And the hills have been melted …”
(Nahum 1:5; Young’s Literal Translation). Psalm 104:32 adds, “He looketh
on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.”

During His ministry, Jesus Christ told His disciples that many earthquakes
would occur before His return. “[T]here shall be famines, and pestilences,
and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows”
(Matthew 24:7-8).

It seems that every several weeks the Earth unleashes upsetting violence of
one type or another: an erupting volcano, a tornado, an earthquake, a wildfire,
a tsunami, a superstorm, a flood or a drought.

The disasters level properties, destroy homes, ruin crops, and often take lives.
Bible prophecy shows that these weather events signal that this era of mankind’s
unsuccessful attempts to rule himself is about to end, and that Jesus Christ’s
return is near. In the rubble and ash of the catastrophes lies profound hope.

Wow! Just read Ezekiel 38 a couple of times. Please quote me the verses that have the countries, modern day Iran, Russia, Syria in them. For that matter, modern day Israel. I just couldn’t see those names anywhere!

It is bad hermeneutics to pull modern day countries out of the air, and apply them to something written thousands of years ago, to the people of ancient Israel.
