I'm starting to wonder if Jeb is also being derailed because of geopolitics. His name+global instability= people thinking about his brother's foreign policy (which was still a sight better than what we have with Obama).

It also makes me wonder if voters will end up choosing someone who claims they want a more aggressive data collection program to prevent a terrorist attack like the one in Paris. I see positives and negatives to this. A positive in that people are getting realistic about what is going on in the world stage, but a negative in that they are unrealistic regarding the solutions.

If you want true security you must assume some of the burden of that security yourself. Be a more vigilant, active citizen that, with other active citizens thwarts the ambitions of terrorists by living a life of courage equal in measure to how they live a life of barbarism.

"Live free or die." was not a rallying cry for the troops during our War for Independence, but a sober reflection of reality afterward. I can think of several candidates who understand this concept in full. I just wish they would say it clearly and resoundingly. America needs that message.

I think many see Jeb as one of the open border types, a globalist, at least I do.

Me too. They take the concept of free movement of people as good for economies to the extreme. Free movement of every single Tom dick and Harry is not good because every tom dick and Harry aren't necessarily on the good side of character traits.

Precisely. Both previous President Bushes and consequently Jeb Bush's family name has only further reinforced that image.

People can say what they want about Trump, but he could very well have saved our party via a system reboot by saying, in brief,

"Hey! Guess what? You don't need to be a neocon without a country or a libertarian without a backbone. Let's be that distinctive nation that wins again! Who is with me? What's that you say? Not the press? Forget the press! The American people are back!"

That is why Trump has had the numbers. His message resonates.

It is also why we have had these Republican debates with so many people varying for courageous to ridiculous.

And it's wonderful! Imagine a primary dominated by Bush. It would be boring. It wouldn't receive millions of views. It wouldn't have sucked the oxygen out of Hillary for the general.

It also would've been bad policy.

Can you imagine this election season without trump? It'd be a real yawner. Cruz is smart but super acedemic and seems canned in his delivery. Paul comes across as that know it all friend who ends up getting ostracized on the playground because he bugs. I think Carson might be better napping material than the pga or nascar. Carly reminds me of that old bat Pelosi in some ways..just trying to tell everyone what they want to hear. She should stay home and be a grandma. The only one who doesn't seem to care about the popularity contest that modern politics are is trump. And that's why people like him.

The rest of the field are like that ex girlfriend with makeup running down her face begging for a second chance. Please... Please love me. I need to be loved. I love you...so love me. (Say the last sentence in a whiny voice for proper effect.)

My opinion is that trumps body language, delivery and tone actually are consistent with what he says. He comes across naturally. Maybe I'm wrong and he's a master in the craft of acting but he comes across that way to me...and to act that way is one thing on a tv show but to do it under the pressure of a presidential campaign is a whole other level "acting". Imo.

The thing is, I don't think he's acting.

Every candidate has peripheral political issues and central political issues i.e. positions they punt to the voters and positions that are important to them. Trump has been remarkably straightforward on those issues that are most important to him, particularly those emanating from and in relation to trade policy.

In short, I think this is more than another Apprentice series to him. It's more than just another accomplishment. For better or worse, he sincerely believes that he is the best possible President our country can have today.

the point I was trying to make is that we communicate with 80% body language and tone and the rest with the words we use. If there is something out of whack it will be evident in our delivery. It seems to me that almost every gop candidate has a glitch in their delivery that denotes an inauthenticity with what they are saying. I think the exceptions are Cruz and Paul but Trumps body language and tone match perfectly with what he says.

I can't argue with you there. He deliberately employs showmanship to accomplish his goals, especially the serious ones.

Art of the Deal, Chapter 2. Read it, ya'll.

And Trump's foreign policy experience, even as Commander in Chief?
This is the area the first four years is going to exact on the next President cleaning up what Dufus messed up.

I think the difference between trump and our dufus in chief is that trump will put people in key positions that are actually worthy of that position. A good leader knows his limitations and surrounds himself accordingly. Something trump has already indicated that he will do.

Oh how so? He strikes me as quite egocentric.

He doesn't run his business alone. He'd be a fool to hire people who were inept at their job. He's already indicated who he will tap as ambassador to China. Don't recall his name off the top of my head.

Karl Rove was on Morning Joe this morning. He felt certain that if Romney lost, in no small part because he only got 20% of Hispanic votes, Trump would also lose because he has at best, 10% support among Hispanic voters.

I don't see much difference between Trump and Ross Perot. When you are that wealthy, you feel liberated by not having to answer to donors. You can speak as you feel. Ross Perot discussed his war on drugs like Donald Trump discusses a war on terrorism. Perot stated that he would ask the American people what they wanted. If they were clear about wanting a war on drugs, he would wage a war on drugs. A serious war on drugs like we have not seen. Send in troops, tell people working for drug cartels that they will die if they don't walk away. Then kill them if they don't walk away. Destroy their marijuana crops and destroy their homes, killing everyone inside. Warn everyone transporting or growing or helping out in any way, they will be targeted. That is a war on drugs. Then Perot said that if Americans felt they couldn't handle the pictures of the dead and they were unsure about going forward, he would not waste resources and would call it off. Had he not dropped out of the race temporarily, he would likely have defeated Bill Clinton.

Rove said he liked Christies chances and Cruz and Rubio.

I saw that Kasich has dropped to 1% approval. Fiorina has been stuck at 3%. Bush has not been able to get a bump and time is slipping away. When four or five of the candidates drop out, their supporters may cause a surge for another candidate.

If Kasich, Bush, and Huckabee drop out then the GOP has no one with enough experience and a good enough record. Will not support anyone else, might as well just let Hillary win if the GOP nominee is not one of those three.

shrillary is on trumps home turf in prime time. Her canned answers and feigned humility will be as apparent as daylight on a hot summer afternoon. Besides, she's got more issues than popular mechanics.

I think Santorum will drop out next. I personally have no complaints against Santorum, but am looking more at the experienced Governors. If the most logical argument is the GOP needs an alternative to Obama whom came in inexperienced and to Senator Hillary whom has a bad record, then it seem to me the best contrast are Kasich, Bush, and Huckabee being they are very experienced and have good economic records and to boot the Competent Three have experience as Governors so we have something of an idea of how they'd manage the presidency.
