If you believe that once you are gifted with the Holy Spirit you are can never deny GOD; you are also saying there is no such thing as the unforgivable sin which Jesus himself taught us is possible.
Matthew 12:31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Why would you think the Pharisees were "gifted" with the Holy Spirit?

First off, no one was filled AND sealed with the Holy Spirit until Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension. The Holy Spirit came UPON people, but did not permanently indwell and SEAL them with His Presence.

The warning is to those who AREN'T, or maybe just THINK they are saved,

So you don't believe it is possible to commit the unforgivable sin?
THIS guy has a VERY interesting take on the sin of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Definitely worth a look:

PennEd I am not here to oppose you or your teaching or your belief, take all that I say please as your chance to inform me of the "truth" as you see it. That is of course the only way I can learn Scripture indicates in Acts 5 that Ananias and Sapphira were indeed gifted with the Holy Spirit and what happened to them when they lied to GOD was pretty scary. Can you explain for me why these scriptures oppose your point of view?

I discontinued watching this video at the point where the gentleman stated his opinions were based on a colon Hebrew has no vowels, Greek no punctuation.
I think he was going toward saying the unforgivable sin was not possible before Jesus death and ressurection. So all mankind who lived before Christ's sacrifice had no fear of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit of GOD?

My apologies, I will try to pay closer attention to my thread titles thank-you for the guidance. The news of Joshua Harris is very sad indeed.

Sure.

2 possibilities.
1. Not sure where the text says they were saved believers to begin with.

2. Eternity is a loooong time. In fact it never ends. There are going to be those who are IN the kingdom, but perhaps with NOTHING but the clothes on their backs. They will be the LEAST in the Kingdom that Jesus talked about. Then there will be those who have laid up treasures in Heaven, who have given ALL to Christ, maybe even their lives. They will be priests and kings. They were given much, and did the MOST with what they were given. NOT everybody is going to be a king!

We will ALL appear before the judgement seat of Christ (Bema Seat). And give an account of what we did with what He has given us. Rewards, prizes, and positions, will be given out. BUT Salvation itself, is NOT a prize or reward! It is a free gift given by Christ.

So IMO Ananias and Sapphira fall into one of the above categories.

Ok.

His point was "in this age" the time that Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees, "and the age to come" the time Jesus Himself will reign during His 1000 year reign on Earth, are the ONLY times someone can do what the Pharisees did. Which is physically see God Himself, in the form of Jesus, His wonderful works, and Presence, and attribute them to Satan.

That is what the text says. Believe what you'd like.

Didn't think I was debating. Only answering a question you asked. You, of course, may believe whatever you want. And this is how threads work. Issues intertwine.

As with all those in the body of Christ I can only be certain of what the Holy Spirit of GOD teaches me. Mankind has gotten this message wrong since the beginning of time, and will continue to do so until the end of time.

Matthew 18:19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Yes Satan interferes in religious discussions on a constant basis and to separate religious teachings from the teachings of Christ are even more difficult today than they were in the time when Jesus opposed the Jewish religious leaders "rules and regulations" and chastised them for having more love for their synagogue and religious checklist than GOD. Mostly because there's alot more religions now.
When Jesus opposed the views of the Religious leaders did it bring clarity for some? Some of those who listened gained seeds of knowledge that took root. LOVE

oh okay, for a minute I thought I stepped into BDF forum again........
I can tell you for the 6+ yrs I have been here the Christian News Forum has ALWAYS been a debate forum. This is not the prayer request forum, although I have seen debates on there as well. ALL of these forums are open to 7+ BILLION people publicly to respond how they like. I'm sorry, but I find it a little bullying to say we can't discuss this here. We are having a discussion about the author, and it extends to others that have claimed to be Christian, only to find out they were not.
Even the head moderator has made a post on the discussion.

I think you can disengage from receiving alerts and participating in the discussion.

according to GOD's commandments which is the greater sin homosexuality or adultery (both seem to be running rampant in this time) or is all sexually immoral sin equal? Keeping in mind an involuntary semen emission renders a body unclean for a time.
Leviticus 15:16 “If a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until the evening.
It seems both are pretty bad and are not mutually exclusive.
Im just wondering what the real reason is though cos the article didnt say.

I dont really follow his books but I have read that the kiss dating goodbye book was very influential amongst a certain subset of christians - white americian evangelical young men who attend bible colleges.

not all christians follow the kiss dating goodbye book, some have written about how when they became a christian, they kissed dating hello.

I remember the author saying he wrote the book when he was really young like out of his teens, and then it became a huge phenomenon, amongst church youth. Another thing I remember about this book was he kept his high school sweetheart waiting, or maybe it was the Leslie Ludy books called when God writes your love story.

I think the reason for writing that book was frankly, he couldnt control himself around women. Thing is men need to learn how to treat women and to respect them like sisters. Many young men are incapable of doing so cos they never taught or learned how. Then when these men go to be married, the only female they interact with is their wife and they just dont know how to treat her right because they dont really understand women as they never been on a date! . Not every woman is dying to get married after the first date.

So then the Incorruptible seed could become corrupt by the flesh, right?
Can i just jump in here and say read the parable of the sower and the seed. I think in joshuas case he would be one growing up with no deep roots, or the one amongst thorns and hes being choked by the cares of this world.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

If the Seed is truly incorruptible, then it follows that it could not be corrupted by anything... not anything at all. However, I think what some people are saying is that the Seed, once taken, can be uprooted and cast out. What perplexes me and others who have had profound experiences of the Holy Spirit of God working in our lives, is how anyone who has had any kind of similar life-transforming experience can then turn around and decide it was not real, that they were somehow deceived in their thinking, to renounce the Truth of God's Word. To apostatize. Scripture plainly states that anyone who leaves shows they were not truly one of us to begin with. Sadly I have met people who believed they were saved, served for decades in their church, and then walked away from it all. Their bitterness and hostility toward Christians and Scripture is deep, and heart breaking.
