I think this thread was about wearing political shirts where you know it will upset the other party members.
That's true. I have yet to wear anything pro Trump but I may get a bumper sticker supporting him.

Nice little spin here. A conservative is attacked and you make a derogatory statement about many Trump supporters not being mature and composed. See friends how the manipulation takes place? Smoke must be an elementary school teacher to think we are so naive not to see through his liberal tactics. Try again, smoke.
Where is the "spin"? When I give my opinion, I strive to be objective.

It's for this very reason I've stated in a previous post... "People will always find a reason to be offended."

I didn't want to post the OP video and have some people believe I'm painting all anti-Trump people with the same brush... so I wanted to include the part about how I don't think all anti-Trump people are the same as the ones in the video. I also didn't want to offend anyone who may have thought I think it's only anti-Trump people who act immature this way, so I wanted to be fair/objective and admit that some Trump supporters act this way (from my own personal experience as well).

Thanks Utah, for proving that people will be offended/complain with anything and everything someone says/does. No amount of prefacing or going out of your way will stop 100% of the people to their right to be offended.

This is what you did:

Headlines: Black man beaten at KKK meeting.

Your response: Many Black men have bad attitudes.

one has a corner on stupidity. Both sides can act like morons. But there has been a lot of Trump bashing going on by liberals, not even liberals. As I said I had family on FB that went wild about my supporting Trump. Its a lot of nonsense. Now that he's won, move on and forget about it,both sides.

I explained what I did... We can go back one page and revisited it directly instead of making a comparison. I didn't want anyone to think I'm lumping all anti-Trump people like the people in the video. I didn't want the anti-Trump people think I only think it's the anti-Trump people who act this way either.

I don't think you're understanding how you're proving my point that people will always find a way to be offended/complain. We can go out of our way to be fair and reasonable, but someone out there will complain. What I'm learning from this discussion is that I shouldn't have given a darn if people accused me of "lumping all anti-Trump supporters together" or thinking "only anti-Trump people act immature." I'll know better next time. lol

About a month ago, our preacher ended one of his usual fantastic sermons with the admonishment for us all to do some “correcting” in the way we respond and interact with members of the opposing political parties. He said for Democrats to not see the outcome of the recent race as the end of the world, and he told Republicans not to gloat.

There is a man in our congregation with whom I have joked around for years about being a Democrat. Well, after the service, he happened to be blocking the aisle, talking with someone. I asked to get past them, and jokingly said to him that since we had won, I had the right-of-way… or something to that effect.

We both spent the next four hours at a wedding reception. And he didn’t mention a thing the whole time. But, when I got home, I got a phone call. It was a rather cryptic call from my friend, informing me that I had really hurt him, and that he would appreciate me stopping my gloating.

I tried to tell him I don’t do that kind of thing, and that I was merely making light of the “gloating” remark from the pulpit since he and I are always bantering about our party preferences. He basically said I was lying, and that I was making fun of his party losing the election. He then asked me again not to keep hurting him like that. I said “OK”, and he hung up.

I mentioned this incident to the preacher the next week that maybe (in light of what I experienced there) he ought to go easy on bragging from the pulpit that his team, Ohio State, had whupped Michigan. (He likes to do that.) He surprised me by not saying a word about the game.

Well, that got me to thinking about my own attitude.

Then, this was reinforced very recently when my wife and I attended a Live Nativity Scene at a church near us. This church had shunned and shamed a friend of mine about ten years ago because of his felony record. He ended leaving that church over the situation.

To tell you the truth, I was all prepared, in my mind, to lower the boom on this church that night if they “dared” to try and ask any of us visitors to attend their Sunday services. But something happened.

That old friend of mine was there, in costume, participating in their production… and his wife was serving refreshments. You could have knocked me over with a feather!

The next Sunday, at our church, the sermon convicted me, and I ended up finding this Democrat friend, hugging him, and telling him I was sorry. I left it at tat, so we will see how the future works out. But I think I learned that it is more important how my friend feels than how I want to be “right” and “justified.”

Maybe we should feel that way about strangers?

Smoke, a man was harassed and your response was to disparage people who share the same values as the victim. That's not fair or reasonable. Your response had no value.

Such an awesome anecdote, Willie!!
It's strange, but I find myself having a LOT more patience with strangers and those who don't have the same relationship with God I strive to have, than I have with others within the faith. I'm working on it, but boy howdy believers can really push my buttons sometimes. Thank you for sharing this. I will try to keep this in mind in the future when dealing with people.

Me too. And I'm sorry for pushing your buttons a few minute ago. I guess I'm still not cured of trying to prove I think I have a few things "right."

Well, with either one, I think we all know that we are going to continue being in wars all over the place, about one thing or another.

If were gonna be at war, Id rather be at war against an organization like ISIS over a nation like Russia. At least that would be a meaningful and productive war that could save many lives.

The Mexican girl made many assertions, all grounded in baseless assumptions, starting with, support for building a wall makes one a racist. She harped and harped on her pet themes of racism and how he was an uneducated loser who would make much less money than she or anyone in her family, and finally moved into haranguing him over never being touched because he repeatedly respectfully requested that she stop touching him, something she repeatedly denied, though I believe she is a liar, since she was almost crawling all over him. Did she enter the country legally, or illegally? Did her family enter the country legally, or illegally? It would seem she sees no difference in how one enters the country.

Twenty one years ago in his state of the union address, Bill Clinton spoke of taking more aggressive measures to keep illegal immigrants out of the country, and to do more to stop them being an onerous burden on tax paying citizens, as well as being more proactive in deporting them. He got a standing ovation.

"All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in our country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants, the public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more, by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.

In the budget I will present to you we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace, as recommended by the commission headed by former congresswoman Barbara Jordan. We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years and we must do more to stop it."
From the state of the Union address in 1995.

Yep, Bill Clinton got a standing ovation for that. Twenty years later, Donald Trump and anyone who supports his desired initiatives gets called a racist for wanting to secure the southern border. What happened?

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has estimated that 11.4 million unauthorized immigrants lived in the United States in January 2012.

The DHS releases yearly reports from which the rate of new illegal immigration can be estimated. The most recent data is from FY 2015. One has to combine visa overstays and cross-border illegal entries from separate reports.

For fiscal year 2015, DHS reports that the number of new visa overstays (not counting late departures) was 527,127

The number of immigrants that cross the border illegally each year are not directly countable, and are estimated from the number who are caught trying. For FY 2015, DHS reported 337,117 apprehensions. Using an estimated catch rate of 33%, the number crossing without detection would be 674,000 per year (2 successful entries for each 1 apprehended).

The rate of new illegal immigrants, combining both sources is 1,201,000 in FY 2015.
