'Many tragic stories': Hawaii governor says Maui fire death toll could double or triple. Live updates

Estimates are about 200-300 deaths (though others say it could be as high as 500-1,000). 2,700 buildings destroyed valued at $5.6 billion.

For some reason the warning system that is tested each month and was tested two weeks ago failed to work. Also there were no text alerts or phone alerts for most people and nothing on the news advising people which way to evacuate or how to evacuate. Apparently things were very confused.

Also there was no water pressure so the fire department was unable to fight the fire.

However, there is a silver lining. Apparently there are some very rich people who would like to buy the land, obviously without any houses or buildings they will only be offering a small fraction of what the homes were worth a few days ago.

It is still not clear if the insurance companies will pay, generally you need a named storm and this was not a named storm.

It was Hawaii, probably had a soothing violin or Ukulele solo on the TV while the place burned.

The first thing that came to mind when I heard this story was Canada.
Do you think there's any connection with the Canadian fires and Hawaii?

The first thing that came to my mind was Caesar Nero playing the violin while Rome burned. He wanted to buy the land, they wouldn't sell it, so he set it on fire and kept the fire department back.

They did that with a lot of New Orleans I heard after hurricane Katrina too.

There are plenty of examples of California homes and cars destroyed by the less conventional weapons. I'm new to this Hawaiian tragedy, so I will not jump to that conclusion without the evidence.
So far it looks to me like big organized crime syndicates taking over some of the most valuable land in America through simple arson.

The beginning news reporter said that out of a thousand missing people, only two were identified. Sounds like some major gaslighting. People are burned in their own homes and they have no idea? Dental records are available and they have only 2 people identified? I guess everyone must swim to the mainland for dental exams instead. DNA tests must all be unavailable or totally bogus.

I heard they were burned so badly you can't use dental records. Probably all those they found were not in a house. All those houses were burned to ash. I also heard that the "bodies" they find all crumble to ash as well.

Despite the confusion in this case all believers should be praying. We know that Caesar Nero depicts the spirit of Antichrist which has already gone out into the world. We know there have been many Antichrists and we know that ultimately we will see "the" Antichrist, the embodiment of this evil spirit.

This evil spirit likes to burn down everything that belongs to those that don't worship him and then gleefully take what belongs to others by force. It is a lying spirit, a spirit that loves to kill and destroy. That is the story of the saying that "as Rome burned Nero played the violin".

How many times do we have to be told that the fire was due to mismanagement and problems with the infrastructure before we realize we are in a spiritual war with an enemy that wants to kill and destroy.

If only there were a huge, limitless supply of water somewhere near that oceanside community.
