I can find a place of fellowship, but it would most likely violate my conscience.

I won’t go to churches that preach eternal conscious torment for the unsaved. That pretty much eliminates all of my options. I’m not aware of any legitimate churches that actually preach that the unsaved perish, are destroyed, and put to death.

Also, I’m in Vietnam so finding English speaking churches aren’t easy. Furthermore, many of the churches are Catholic and some are LDS. I’m not even aware of a Protestant denomination church here or a non-denominational church.
OK, I got this response:

Good afternoon, ZNP.

Yes, we sure do have Gideons in Vietnam who can reach out to this new believer.

Can you give us his name, the city where he lives, an email and local telephone number?

If you can message me with this information I will pass it on to them. This woman is in charge of Gideon's international so she is not in Vietnam. I don't know if you could email her directly if you aren't a member of Gideon's.

"Millions of dollars" will soon be completely worthless, whereas the Lord's coming and whether or not you are faithfully watching at the time will be something that will stand for eternity.

Matthew 26:8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? 9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
er...maybe because the currency actually belonged to her...it was HER head on all the notes and coins...(it was actually pounds, not dollars in the UK)

She did give to the poor, I think a token amount on Maundy Thursday I think it was called. Other than that she didnt actually carry any money in her handbag/purse.

She was patron of numerous charities though. Not sure how that worked, you have had to have lived under her reign in the UK or the Commonwealth to comment though. If you didnt then you probably dont understand anything about the monarchy.

Also you need to be aware of how the Church of England (and Church of Scotland, presbyterians) related to the royals. It goes way back to Henry the VIII ....

the royals are how the English got their King James Bible. King James does not refer to St James or Jesus brother btw. In case you are ignorant of the fact.

I do recall one year, maybe it was the 400th anniversary, the Queen made sure every household in the UK got a copy of the Holy Bible.

Did anybody actually receive this or was this just a rumour/press release?

This is relevant if you were wondering about her role as 'head' of Church of England and her personal faith.
https://www.royal.uk/queen-and-church

of course, its kind of Pope-like in a way, but this is what happened when the English royals split from Roman Catholicism. This is why no British royals can be Catholic...it didnt have anything to do with Martin Luther though. Henry the VIII just wanted a son.

Perhaps its no surprise the bed hopping and adultery that seems to taint the royals when they lead such profligate lives. But by the time of Queen Victoria, there had been a christian revival and the royals had sobered up somewhat. But its not true of every royal.

It does seem that Henry viii 1st wife was more scrupulous than some. Daughter of Ferdinand & Isabella, Kathryn was a staunch Catholic. Very interesting history and maybe Lucy Worsely has insights here? Wikipedia is my reference.

PS If Kathryn had birthed a boy would Great Britain still be Catholic? Would it matter? Is it significant?

It was the Church of Rome that Evangelized the Church of England in the first place. Pope St. Gregory I (the Great) sent a Bishop named St. Augustine of Canterbury, with 40 monks, and by prayer and fasting, by Evangelism and spreading the Gospel, they brought to England to Christ. Some 1000 years later, King Henry VIII declared himself head of the Church in England, because the Pope would not grant him a divorce. Till fairly recently, Anglican Christianity was conservative; of late, it has become slightly liberal, yet there still are devout and conservative Christians in that denomination imo.

[Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustine_of_Canterbury; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Gregory_I]

But anyway, as the below link says, may the Queen Rest in Peace.

"Clwyd West MS Darren Millar said her passing leaves a ‘huge hole in my heart and the hearts of many’, adding: “My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

“Queen Elizabeth was an outstanding monarch who served our country with great dignity and energy for longer than any of her predecessors. She was a gift from God to our nation and all those other realms and territories which were proud to call her their own.

“I will be eternally grateful for Her Majesty’s dedication and devotion to public service, and her strong faith in Jesus Christ, of which she spoke often and was an example to us all.

“May she rest in peace and rise in glory.”

yes they were all Roman catholic prior to Henry VIII.
This is why the English do not get on with the Irish who are mostly Catholic. I think its quite ironic about all the divorces in the royal family.

The Scots were calvinists so had split from RCC for different reasons, by the time of King James, the UK was unifying both England and Scotland, and hence the new English translation of the Bible. However, the King James Bible doesnt read as strictly Calvinist as it was based on Tyndales translation and made sure that it was honoring to the original scriptures, not any particular church doctrine, althoughthe Church of England claimed it as THEIR authorised version.

The Queen lived half the time in Scotland in Balmoral as her home away from home (Windsor and Buckingham Palace) and her Scottish ties were important, though her actual family and bloodlines were more a mixture of Germans and Greek (Prince Phillip was Greek?) They tried to downplay the German side of her family during the world war.

At any rate the royal family are meant to represent England and there was an age old rule that none were allowed to be Catholic. I think Pirnce Phillip had Greek Orthodox ties but not sure if he was actually a born again christian, its said he was agnostic. The Queens sister Margaret didnt seem to show any faith and was cremated.

All the abbeys, convents and statues/idols/icons of Roman Catholicism were destroyed in England after Henry the VIII and quite a few royals were beheaded....

And then there was that Guy Fawkes gunpowder plot. Still celebrated/remembered every November 5th.

Though Westminster Abbey was kept but there are no longer any nuns or monks in there. Its used for royal occasions like weddings and funerals etc. I guess some of the old buildings and castles couldnt all be torn down.

we had our memorial day yesterday for the Queen in nz

There was a service in St Pauls cathedral in Wellington and that was televised.

The Queen supported over 600 charities.

If you were to read one book about the Queen, I would recommend Platinum Queen. Its got all her speeches over 75 years and every Christmas message she broadcast since 1952.

She was without a doubt, the one of the most respected and long lived Monarch in history. She touched many lives, and she was a genuine Christian. The Bible says not many believers are noble or high born, but she was actually one of the few. see 1 Corinthians 1:26

I have a suspicion that Kathryn of Aragon may in some ways compare. At least what I read of her on Wikipedia.

? I dont know anything about her sorry, you might want to elaborate.

I dont tend to make any comparisons, I think Queen Elizabeth 2 was quite unique. Her ancestal predecessor and namesake Elizabeth I was a despot, according to her!

Her great-grandaughter, Lilibet is named after her.

Princess Anne does look a bit like her mother when she was younger, although I personally think she looked more like her sister Margaret. Though they were opposites in character and personalities.

The thing with royals is that its easy to get too caught up with family squabbles and intrigues. But if court reporters never reported on them we'd never know anything about them lol. A vicious cycle, living in a fish bowl.

Princess Diana had a huge influence on the monarchy in her short life, though its never easy for ANYONE to marry into the royal family.

I think americans dont really understand that about birthright and lineage. That was Wallis Simpsons mistake. Though now the rules have changed and male primogeniture has quietly been done away with. Still you cant become royal by popular vote. However if you are loved and popular things will go well for your reign!

Might be relevant now that Harrys books is out (also, Prince Harry married an American, but Americans seem not to care, at least the ones on CC dont)

On the face of it though Meg tried to her best to fit in with the royals though she was never really going to because of the culture clash, even apart from racist attitudes. She did however, get baptised into the Anglican church.

For christians and believers, this is actually quite relevant, even if you dont belong to the Church of England, it has a big influence on Christendom and commonwealth nations.

No, we really don't care.
We are citizens here, not subjects.
As Christians, Jesus is the life we are to model.
best wishes:)(y):unsure::coffee:
