speaking of the convention accomplishing what it was designed -not- to do...

trump dropped six points against clinton in rasmussen's poll over the course of the convention...

so either the convention was an abject failure and embarrassment and travesty just as i have been saying it was...or else rasmussen is mercurial and unreliable just as i said it was...

i will accept from my critics a 'you were right' on the basis of either or both...

I don't keep track of polls. Lol. Glad you do...I don't think they are gonna matter all that much this election season.

Most polls are designed to shape public opinion, not reflect it. Mainly because overall public opinion is so darn hard to poll.

I'm inclined to think the convention didn't help or hurt us. There was just something different about it atmospherically from the last one.

I think the coloring and the lighting was way better. I'm tempted to blame the venue and whatever the advance staff did (for the record, my vote went to Kansas City).

The speakers were great. Really, I think some of the best speeches in recent memory were delivered at this event. All with different but relevant messages (give a hand for Marcus).

People were, overall, quite civil. Even the dirty hippy protesters and the militiamen watching the dirty hippy protesters.

On a scale from one to ten though, I give overall presentation a three. Optics matter!

I was gonna mention that but based on the past few months, virtually every "professional" has gotten it wrong.

The consultant class is largely living in the 90's. It's the political era they came of age and learned most of their early lessons.

Much of their craft is built on, frankly, political window-dressing. Not decisive win-or-lose factors. They'll sound smart on conference calls. Maybe meet with the candidate for drinks once every three weeks. At the end of the day, though, they don't care who wins or loses as long as they're paid this cycle and secure clients the next.

They treat political races in much the same way, making predictions while being drunk on something. Continually returning to their base of knowledge in some congressional race in 1995.

In the meantime, they lose their grasp on the fundamentals and the humility/curiosity you need to see them and work with them. Learn the science but always, always return to the art.

the worst of it is...the people behaving in a threatening way towards heidi cruz last night were not just people that the trumpists can dismiss as random aberrations saying 'not all trump supporters are like that'...

those people were -elected delegates- to the republican convention...they -represent- the 13 million people who voted for trump in the primaries...

these people that were behaving in such a threatening manner towards a politician's wife that she had to be escorted from the building...solely because that politician would not endorse their candidate...they -are- what trump supporters are like...
Must be something In the brain that was hidden and Trump awaken In these supporters, seems like they are hypnotized.
