Hallow's Eve was traditionally a marking of the opposite of the solstice

Now it's a night for kids to get dressed up in funky costumes, get with their friends, eat monkey nuts and candy and have a bit of fun. I don't see anything wrong with it. It isnt like the kids are going to a witch burning.

All the years I went trick or treating I never worshipped satan.

Never had a virgin sacrifice.

Never drank blood.

Just go sick from free candy. I think this has nothing to do with satanic principles. I think the detractors of Halloween are people who hate candy.

IMHO

If putting on a costume threatens your faith....if going around asking for candy threatens your faith....

you need to work on your faith more.

Do you worship satan on halloween? Do you personally know anyone who does? There is a big difference between a satanic practice and putting on a costume.

Too easy.
I may have to re-think my daughter's birthday next wee. I would not want to give the impression that I was sacrificing a cake by having candles on it. Poor cake! Not to mention the confusion caused to the flour and sugar being forced into a possible dangerous relationship.

"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see" --Linus Van Pelt, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)
Peanuts is evil too. I knew something was wrong because of those round heads.

'' If you don't give us what we want we will make you pay.''

England should be use to this principle. Its how their government works.

...and how does wearing this costume make you satanic? satan does not look like this..its a secular representation of the devil. Whilte christians would probably not wear such a costume, wearing one does not make anyone satanic and if seeing a costume makes you falter in your walk, your faith needs a workout.

How can christmas or halloween or easter be pagan to a christian? I never worshipped satan on any of these holidays, even before I was saved. This is more christian propaganda than it is actual truth. Just some fear mongering christians seeking to control other christians with false claims.
Of course, there is the issue of those who worship trees every year by lighting and placing gifts under the altar...I mean tree.

Problem is when anyone outside of America criticises Halloween, many Americians see that as anti-American propaganda and a direct attack on America. Americans who express these sentiments are branded traitors.

I have had not anyone knock on my door for past 3 years, some kids do go around the neighbourhood, but they often just go to people they know and not every house and are accompanied by adults. past couple of years I saw no body dressed up walking around the streets.

However my church does supply gift bags with leaflets and booklets aka tracts, about Jesus etc, simply add sweets to it and theres an evangelising opportunity.

I don't see this thread as anti-american.

I see it as legalism and people being influenced by poor propaganda.

Remember this...if your halloween candy causes you to sin...send it to me.

.if your halloween candy causes you to sin
Nobody said that :)

It's celebration of death and violence, and things God hates.
Lady who took this picture said her family has to pass by this everyday. She has small children.

Here's another photo from her. I know her.

I live in a town of 2000 people. This month we've had a beating homicide of a woman and a bizarre triple burglary, one of which was a disabled, wheelchair bound man whom the thief pushed over. We have one of the top 13 haunted houses in the nation here according to (America's Best Haunted Houses - AmericasBestHaunts.com) I live approximately 2 miles away and I can hear the screaming from that place.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, and of power, and of a sound mind.” —2 Timothy 1:7

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Do you wear make-up?

Do you have a job?

Do you have a car?

How much should we abstain from the world?

If halloween causes you to sin I do not think its the holiday.

Its your faith

Wikipedia:

North American almanacs of the late 18th and early 19th century give no indication that Halloween was celebrated there.[SUP][76][/SUP] The Puritans of New England, for example, maintained strong opposition to Halloween,[SUP][76][/SUP] and it was not until the mass Irish and Scottish immigration during the 19th century that it was brought to North America in earnest.[SUP][76][/SUP] Confined to the immigrant communities during the mid-19th century, it was gradually assimilated into mainstream society and by the first decade of the 20th century it was being celebrated coast to coast by people of all social, racial and religious backgrounds.
Look who is to blame...

Would you wear that costume and put those things in your yard, dress your children like witches and wizards, and invite Jesus over for a scary halloween dinner?

England must be doing it wrong if vandalism is such an issue at Halloween. I hardly ever hear any stories in the US of this. And usually what does take place are not children of the appropriate age, it's typically older people. I hear of a lot more issues of vandalism at Christmas.
There is a problem in the UK regarding vandalism on Halloween. When this foreign practice first reared its head here it was only young children, often accompanied with their parents who came trick or treating. It wasnt long before Yobs saw it as an excuse to create trouble. I do think though this is a reflection on the state of society as a whole. Halloween is just one more excuse to make life miserable for others. At least its only for one night a year
