The problem is the feds collect all the revenue then redistribute it. This leaves it impossible for states and localities to collect enough to fund all services and leaves the states requiring federal funding. This all started when the constitution was ammended to allow the feds to collect income taxes. This was calculated so the federal government could exert more control upon the states. Examples of this is when the feds coerced the states into raising the drinking age by withholding highway money and forcing local schools to allow boys to use girls toilets by withholding school funding.

I'm sure Texas would be happy to fund their own state if the federal income tax would end.

That is a stupid remark in view of the fact that I linked to proof of my claim and that source has often been linked to by conservatives.

Much of Texas's economy is dependent on the oil industry which is one of the most subsidized industries in the USA.
