Trump did far better than Biden, but let's be fair in knowing he did his usual stretching of the truth and/or outright "white lies" about his accomplishments as well. I thought the worst thing he did was become involved in two old wealthy white men arguing about who had the better golf game. Seriously? That is not what I want to hear when trying to determine if either are worth voting for. Truth is, we are once again faced with two Candidates not truly worthy of the Office. IMO,

Summary
The much-anticipated first debate of 2024 between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump featured a relentless barrage of false and misleading statements from the two candidates on immigration, the economy, abortion, taxes and more.

  • Both candidates erred on Social Security, with Biden incorrectly saying that Trump “wants to get rid” of the program, and Trump falsely alleging that Biden will “wipe out” Social Security due to the influx of people at the border.
  • Trump misleadingly claimed that he was “the one that got the insulin down for the seniors,” not Biden. Costs were lowered for some under a limited project by the Trump administration. Biden signed a law capping costs for all seniors with Medicare drug coverage.
  • Trump warned that Biden “wants to raise your taxes by four times,” but Biden has not proposed anything like that. Trump was also mostly wrong when he said Biden “wants the Trump tax cuts to expire.” Biden said he would extend them for anyone making under $400,000 a year.
  • Biden repeated his misleading claim that billionaires pay an average federal tax rate of 8%. That White House calculation factors in earnings on unsold stock as income.
  • Trump repeated his false claim that “everybody,” including all legal scholars, wanted to end Roe v. Wade’s constitutional right to abortion.
  • Trump falsely claimed that “the only jobs” Biden “created are for illegal immigrants and bounced back jobs that bounced back from the COVID.” Total nonfarm employment is higher than it was before the pandemic, as is the employment level of native-born workers.
  • Biden claimed that Trump oversaw the “largest deficit of any president,” while Trump countered that “we now have the largest deficit” under Biden. The largest budget deficit was under Trump in fiscal year 2020, but that was largely because of emergency spending due to COVID-19.
  • Biden misleadingly said that “Black unemployment is the lowest level it has been in a long, long time.” The rate reached a record low in April 2023, and it was low under Trump, too, until the pandemic.
  • Biden said Trump called U.S. veterans killed in World War I “suckers and losers,” which Trump called a “made up quote.” The Atlantic reported that, based on anonymous sources. A former Trump chief of staff later seemed to confirm Trump said it.
  • Trump claimed that Biden “caused the inflation,” but economists say rising inflation was mostly due to disruptions to the economy caused by the pandemic.
  • Trump grossly inflated the number of immigrants who have entered the country during the Biden administration — putting the number at 18 million to 20 million — and he said, without evidence, that many of them are from prisons and mental institutions.
  • Trump claimed that “we had the safest border in history” in the “final months” of his presidency. But apprehensions of those trying to cross illegally in the last three full months of his presidency were about 50% higher than in the three months before he took office.
  • Biden criticized Trump for presiding over a loss of jobs when he was president, but that loss occurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Trump falsely claimed that “some states” run by Democrats allow abortions “after birth.” If it happened, it would be homicide, and that’s illegal.
  • Trump made the unsupported claim that the U.S. border with Mexico is “the most dangerous place in the world,” and suggested that it has opened the country to a violent crime wave. The data show a reduction in violent crime in the U.S.
  • Trump overstated how much food prices have risen due to inflation. Prices are up by about 20%, not double or quadruple.
  • Trump boasted his administration “had the best environmental numbers ever.” Trump reversed nearly 100 environmental rules limiting pollution. Although greenhouse gas emissions did decline from 2019 to 2020, the EPA said that was due to the impacts of the pandemic on travel and the economy.
  • Biden said he joined the Paris Agreement because “if we reach the 1.5 degrees Celsius, and then … there’s no way back.” Limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees would reduce the damages and losses of global warming, but scientists agree that climate action is still possible after passing the threshold.
  • Trump said immigrants crossing the border illegally were living in “luxury hotels.” New York City has provided hotel and motel rooms to migrant families, but there is no evidence that they are being placed in “luxury” hotels.
  • Trump falsely claimed that there was “no terrorism, at all” in the U.S. during his administration. There were several terrorist acts carried out by foreign-born individuals when he was president.
  • While talking about international trade, Trump falsely claimed that the U.S. currently has “the largest deficit with China.” In 2023, the trade deficit in goods and services with China was the lowest it has been since 2009.
  • Trump wrongly claimed that prior to the pandemic, he had created “the greatest economy in the history of our country.” That’s far from true using economists’ preferred measure — growth in gross domestic product.
  • As he has many times before, Trump wrongly claimed, “I gave you the largest tax cut in history.” That’s not true either as a percentage of gross domestic product or in inflation-adjusted dollars.
  • Trump contrasted his administration with Biden’s by misleadingly noting that when he left office, the U.S. was “energy independent.” The U.S. continues to export more energy than it imports.
The debate was hosted by CNN in Atlanta on June 27.

Yep I agree they both turned into Pinocchio when they began talking. One of thing's I notice is they both say things that are almost true just not quite the whole truth. The recession/economy Trump say's it was way better when he was in office(which is true) but what he don't say is that if you go back in time things began going up years ago. Prices, wages, rent, real estate, food ect. went up when Bush jr,was POTUS, then they went up when Obama was and when Trump was and continued to go up when Biden went in. So the truth is that the economy was better when Trump was POTUS(he didn't lie, lol) and Biden's is worse but if you work your way back in time from Bush jr. and go back to when I was young we paid 60 bucks a month for our house notes and gas was .30 a gallon. I was living like a rich man and was excited because I found a job and brought home 75 dollars a week,( that was the 50-60's lol...

Things have always gone up my whole life but they have never went down and they could try to do that but the only way would be to tell people they were going to get a dollar less per hour over the next several years. Then the rent would begin to drop in price because they couldn't rent them, they would have to drop the food prices or watch it spoil on the shelves and gas would drop because we couldn't if they didn't and it would be like in the old days when the filthy rich were millionaire's instead of billionaires but fat chance of talking anyone into that right, lol? Then there's the plan they had the whole while which was inflation until they are billionaires and then crumble the economy when they all have 2 or 3 billion dollars in the bank and tell us the new minimum wage is .65 an hour and gas is again .30 a gallon and rent is 35 dollars a month. The rich will be billionaires in a world where we live like in the 50's and all they have to do is talk about recession when they planned to have a depression.

  • Trump misleadingly claimed that he was “the one that got the insulin down for the seniors,” not Biden. Costs were lowered for some under a limited project by the Trump administration. Biden signed a law capping costs for all seniors with Medicare drug coverage.
Biden reversed by EO Trump's lowering of those costs and MUCH later signed a law capping costs.
  • Trump was also mostly wrong when he said Biden “wants the Trump tax cuts to expire.” Biden said he would extend them for anyone making under $400,000 a year.
Biden said he couldn't wait to let them expire. He cannot "extend" anything without Congress, and Congress isn't going to agree to that.
  • Trump repeated his false claim that “everybody,” including all legal scholars, wanted to end Roe v. Wade’s constitutional right to abortion.
Even RBG said it was a bad SCOTUS ruling.
  • Trump falsely claimed that “the only jobs” Biden “created are for illegal immigrants and bounced back jobs that bounced back from the COVID.” Total nonfarm employment is higher than it was before the pandemic, as is the employment level of native-born workers.
Most of the employment return is due to people going back to work after Covid restrictions were over. Industries that were affected by the shutdowns are still struggling to find workers because many have gone on to other jobs to avoid that happening again.
  • Trump falsely claimed that “some states” run by Democrats allow abortions “after birth.” If it happened, it would be homicide, and that’s illegal.
Former Virginia Governor Northam disagrees with you. Many states have refused to pass laws requiring care for live births after abortion attempts.

Too many more to respond to. Your fact check is as or more inaccurate than the candidates.

The irony meter swings both ways though. As a Christian at some point we should take a deeper look at some "big money backers" slithering their way up into the GOP,,, for instance have you ever thought to search for "David Koch's position on same sex marriage"? He agrees with it which might shock some. Or his brothers position on creation? He cant see how the creation story could be true after years in the oil business...
David Koch is a libertarian, not a Republican. Libertarians are well-known for their support of sexual deviancy.

I wasn't meaning he was a Republican I was meaning they were slithering their way up in the GOP by donating to GOP candidates but actually over the years they've donated to both parties.

France organized an election involving 50 million voters on 5 continents in 3 weeks and we'll have the definitive results a few hours after polls close. Just a reminder that how things work, or rather do not work, in the US is not normal and that it shouldn't be a partisan issue.

Just a reminder that how things work, or rather do not work, in the US is not normal and that it shouldn't be a partisan issue.
But what if Communists in the guise of "Democrats" want to establish a totalitarian regime? Then it makes perfect sense to destroy election integrity altogether.

It became a partisan issue because the RINOs failed to make it a national issue of the highest important back in 2016. And Trump did not immediately set up an unbiased Election Fraud Commission to thoroughly clean out the mess that exits in every state. Including all the bogus laws to support the Democrats.

And that's not the worst of it. The country is now filled with millions of evil criminals bent on rapid and killing innocents, while the Supreme Court stands by and actually attacks the First Amendment and the entire Constitution.
these illegal third world cockroaches are without a doubt the UN “peace keepers” that the communist left will use against the armed nationalist americans who are the last line of defense for any semblance of God in the world

I live in Texas and 3 days ago I broke down on hwy 69 a little south of Woodville Texas. It was about 97 or so degrees outside and I had my wife(81) with me. A state trooper drove past me heading north and stopped a few hundred feet on the shoulder and sat there 5 or so minutes I suppose running my plate. Then he turned around and came back but just drove past sneering at us sitting in the sun(we got one of those funny sounding Hispanic last names). I got my car running about an hour and a half later and got her home. Nobody stopped to help all they did was stare at the cockroaches as they drove by. Ive never had even a speeding ticket, never been in jail,US citizen born and raised in Texas,(had to have known that if he ran my plate.). This is happening way too often in my go MAGA red Republican state nowadays and I was a fool to have voted R but you've convinced this cockroach to flip and vote this away...

That opinion can only be from the Biden supporters who wanted him to show how competent he was mentally and physically.

But anyone with half a brain -- and not under any delusion -- could have seen that since January 6, 2020 this man was incapable of even an ordinary job -- let alone that of president of the USA. Barack Obama has been the actual "president" all along, and all the destructive policies of Biden are actually his.

It was Biden who challenged Trump, not vice versa: "President Joe Biden’s campaign has released a new video challenging former President Donald Trump to two presidential debates hosted by news organizations. The video comes as Biden has formally informed the Commission on Presidential Debates that he will not participate in its previously scheduled fall debates."
https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/15/poli...residential-debate-challenge-saenz-cnc-digvid

So he got his wish, and even refused to be drug tested (which is what Trump wanted). And now that the world has seen the total incompetence (and also the destructive agenda of Biden as laid out by Trump), the Leftists are wringing their hands. But in some states, they will not allow a switch out of candidates. Also none of the alternatives to Biden have any merit. So they simply plan to steal this election in the end.

So the thinking is that he's so delusional (surely) that he wanted this debate and his handlers just went along with it?

Come to think of it, the Bidenista clan family insiders (who, word has it, are the ones making the decisions about 10% Joe running for reelection) are very likely to be presently seized with panic at the possibility or more adequately stated high probability that an endless fusillade of investigations and indictments will follow a Trump presidency. Given that the House and Senate are likely going Red makes the predicament all that much more urgent.

So yea........my guess is that they will shove the addled corrupt ossified geezer into the running whether he likes it or not.

Which of course bolsters the likelihood that Trump will be 47 anyways.

So far so good......
