Yep. The military industrial complex is the permanent resident in government. Presidents come and go.
Truman warned the nation about them but it's not something that an empire can give up. It's par for the course for the empire.

The Trump phenomenon is interesting because he does a few unpredictable things but ultimately can't deviate too much from the norms.
For example when he pressured Europe to invest more on defense, that's money that the industrial military complex lost. 5% or whatever it was. Germany increased funding by 2%, the highest compared to the rest of EU.
But Trump is not immune to special interests since he's been dealing with bureaucrats since the 80s.
For example a week ago, his health secretary RFK Jr said that McDonald's food is "poison".
Then, a week after he's seen in a picture on a plane with Trump, Elon, Trump's son with McDonald's hamburgers on the table.
I'm guessing Trump received a call. "Hey buddy, keep your RFK Jr on a tight leash!"
