years ago I had teachers who had worked in an inner city school system, they were clearly told the job was not to educate so much as keep them off the streets where they could not perpetrate crime.
I worked in an inner city school in Brooklyn. Based on the demographics and free lunch our kids should have been in the bottom 25% of students in NYC.

My goal each year was to be the very best science department in the city. I measured our performance based on the Regents exams which were made public.

My kids scored in the top 6% of the city. So we were never #1. However, when you looked at improvement we were far and away #1. I'm sick of these lame teachers and lame principals who say things like that. My kids would come to school without book bags or even a pencil because if they brought that to school they would get robbed. Almost every year I was there a kid in our school was either killed, shot or stabbed at some point in the year. I was always so amazed and proud of these kids considering what they went through to get to school.

I work in school. They hide stuff all the time. You are not being sincere with your question. And Choose to move on from this monologue with you. I will seek dialogue with others. Thank you.
OK, schools actively try to lower the number of felonies that are reported on them. But what you are talking about is an attempt to get around the rules on the books. What would you propose to deal with that. You have never once answered the question, so yes run away, because you like to complain but have no solution.

All of them were killed in an epidemic unique to the United States, where, on average, at least one child is shot every hour of every day.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/interactive/2022/kids-shot-killed-2021-gun-violence-record/

I don't want to be harsh, but according to this 24 kids will be shot each day in the US. I remember when kids at my school got shot and killed it never made the news.

Is it less tragic when it happens in the inner city?

Again, don't want this to sound harsh but the reason that 90% of these kids are shot is easy to deal with. For the most part they are shot by criminals, gang members, and people who had no business owning a gun. They were involved in selling drugs. What happened, where were their parents. Well they were from broken families, the mother had to work two jobs to pay rent. If the schools had after school programs it would have been a tremendous help to them, but I guess because we are hiring 8 security guards for our school we couldn't afford the after school programs or the tutoring.

1 security guard is not enough. What if he is at lunch, what if he is called to some incident somewhere in the school. OK, so you have two, but again they will have to use the bathroom, etc. They don't want these guards to have guns. I worked at a high school with 8 full time police officers but they didn't carry guns. The reason is that on a daily basis the school is so crowded and so many kids everywhere that they know if they are carrying a gun kids will try to pull it out of his holster.

So if you hire 4 full time police with guns to guard the front door of every school you can be sure your education will suffer greatly. We needed $60,000 for tutoring program for a year. Didn't have it. That is the salary of one security guard. We didn't have after school programs. We didn't have a music teacher. We didn't have drama. But we had 8 security guards.

My feeling is if you need those 8 guards then you need to pull your kid from the school because that school is giving away all kinds of programs that would make it a good school.

I home schooled 3 kids. Far better than the education you are getting in public school these days.
Home schooling is not an option for all.
Your argument has no merit with me.
NOTHING, NO PROGRAM is more important than security.
Security officers do not have to wear uniforms and can also carry concealed weapons.
I live in a rural area. Every school in our area have limited access. One way in and one way out.
The school district spent less than $10,000 to do this.
And we have never had a threat nor incident.

I have already pointed out that if the Christians pull their kids from public school they will be desperate to get them back and will negotiate. We don't need 100% of kids to be homeschooled. 10% will have a huge impact on schools, 50% would be completely catastrophic. Also, you don't need 50% of all students. If you had 50% of elementary school kids they would crumple.

Now, if you have elementary school kids in school and you are a Christian meeting with a church it is very easy to convert the church sunday school classrooms for homeschooling. 3-4 parents could coordinate with the church. Yes, every parent who wants to take part will have to help, but that doesn't mean they need to teach or even be there during the day. Every church has a few retired teachers. It is not that hard to coordinate this and between the church, the parents and a couple of retired teachers it will be easy to set up a homeschooling for elementary school kids.

I find this amazing. Schools can and should pay any price to keep our kids safe I am told, and then when you bring up homeschooling it is "oh, we can't do that".

The Bible says Fathers and Mothers are responsible to teach their children. Shirking this responsibility and giving it to the state is to my mind the heart of the problem.

The Department of Justice wanted to classify parents who came to school board meetings and voiced concerns as "domestic terrorists". What is wrong with you? Pull your kid out of that evil system.

2Corinthians 11:20 For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you captive, if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face.

There was an article on CNN today that explained that Britain has prevented mass school shootings through gun laws alone. People that carry out such acts usually just use the nearest thing they can get to express themselves and their emotions. School shootings are usually not premeditated crimes.

I never said "we can't do that".
I said it is not an option for all.
There are one parent homes.
There are homes that both parents must work.
There are standards that home schooling must meet.
Your solution is "pull your kids out because there is not enough money for adequate security."
I just do not buy that.

I was a one parent home when I first homeschooled. The law requires 18 hours of instruction a week, but does not require that the instruction take place between 9-5 monday through friday.

I was working a full time job and was able to home school at the same time. Both of my kids had just come from China, they were in the sixth grade and did not speak a word of english. I home schooled them for 3 years and then they went to the local high school. In both schools they never knew that english was their second language. Both of my kids were valedictorians of their respective schools.

I am saying to pull your kids out because the schools stink. Don't distort or twist what I am saying.

Simple way to get school districts to agree on that: if you are a Christian pull your kid out of the school. When 50% of the kids are pulled out the school district will be willing to negotiate.
I don’t know if that would be a feasible task. I do have have some reservations with Gov entities mixed with religious aspects. Again, I believe at home and the church is where hearts are changed and knowledge is given.

Are you familiar with the history of public school? Originally schools in America were one room school houses in the church. Not everyone was a Christian so the local governments wanted to set up a school for everyone but knew they had to get the assistance of the Christians so they cut a deal to combine the schools and fund them with tax money. Initially the reader that was used was based on the Bible but after awhile it was replaced with insipid readers like the Dick and Jane series. Soon kids couldn't stand to read. Also public school is the most corrupt system. We pay more per kid than other countries and yet we score much worse than them. Why is that? Politicians run the school system. You donate a million dollars to their campaign and then when they are elected mayor or governor they give you a ten million dollar contract with the school system. As a result we pay all kinds of money for things that have nothing to do with kids getting an education.

Different states, different requirements.
For some parents, school must be daycare, because of cost.
Not all schools stink. There are still good schools and teachers out there.
Glad it worked out for you, but you should not believe all have the opportunity you had.

My point is that all kids should be able to go to public school and be safe no matter the cost.

For perspective 2 dozen blacks are killed every day of the year. Think about that, this horrible tragedy of 19 kids and 2 teachers killed yesterday in Texas, the worst school shooting we have seen in ten years. That is a daily experience for blacks and no one cares. Hardly even makes it onto the news.

In 2021 the police shot 6 unarmed blacks. So approximately 10,000 blacks were killed in 2021, 99.94% were shot by criminals. So Biden's solution is to defund the police or blame the police.

I mean, those who believe abortion should not be allowed because life is sacred. (Which I agree with)
I wasn't the only one that didn't understand what you meant. Let's drop the abortion comparison. It's murder, period, let's not use it as a comparison.

AND THEN GO ON to tell that life that unless it has the mind, skills, and resources of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, it's not entitled to a home that is more than a tent, food that is more than Ramen noodles, healthcare that is more than a band aid, and security that is more than having your own gun to shoot back with.
Which I - and God - don't agree with.

No, I don't see anyone anywhere saying that. America doesn't guarantee equal outcomes, that is socialism. And God doesn't agree with that. Most millionaires in the US are self made, the put in the time, the sweat and hard work. Not all of us have that ability. But if gov't stays out of the way we can succeed and have all we need.

How much better do you think the mental health in this country would be if people didn't have to work 80 hours a week at 3 different jobs to just barely scrape by?
But that has nothing to do with school shooters. That is what we are talking about.

We had 400 kids in our HS. NYC has broken the big 2,000 kid high schools into 4 or 5 smaller schools ever since Bloomberg. The building I was in (the same one where one of the Spiderman movies was shot) used to be one of the most dangerous schools in the city till they broke it up.

and, you left out the MAIN smoking gun that nobody wants to talk about, because of Big Pharma...

almost ALL, if not all, of these young school shooters either are taking, or have taken one or more of the psychotropic types of drugs prescribed freely for ADD....
ALL of those drugs list suicidal or homicidal thoughts as some of the side effects.. these drugs are mood/mind altering drugs, and doctors have been prescribing them like candy for decades now. Parents have glibly drugged their children to prevent them from being, well, ...children.
Nearly ALL children have some sort of attention deficit at one time or another..... drugging them is arguably the WORST thing that can be done for them, and I believe we are reaping the results of this...

That is the only common denominator I have seen in all of these shootings.... I don't believe it is necessarily the ONLY cause, but it almost certainly one of the main causes....

check it out....
Yes, and dependence on these type of drugs have gone up and up, like over 300%. And continued to rise during the pandemic. Nor do we know what the pandemic 2yr lock down did to those who already had mental issues.

Britain doesn't have the right to bear arms though.
