You know you said something that stuck with me,I know who I serve. If this is true and I believe most do serve the Lord in some capacity then heathen and Satanist are no worse than sinner, viper, dog, serpent all words used by Jesus or his disciples. Words have power true but not unless we give it to them.
pastac, I know who I serve also. :) However I got called a satanist simply because I watch scary movies and eat halloween candy on halloween. I mean, really? I worship satan because I eat halloween candy? That's ludicrous. :) But I do agree, words have no power unless we allow them to.

Yeah sis the name calling thing kinda goes with the territory. Jesus was called worse we know he was. I don't condone it( name calling in the personal context)but if Jesus used certain words I feel a strong obligation to use the words he used to get the same effect he got.

I'm sure when he said dog or heathen folks got upset too! I don't think its the candy sis. Its the attachment to the pagan rituals that halloween represents. I also believe in letting not my good being evil spoken of. I cant speak for the poster but maybe the point being made was a different one than you received.

When you quoted to Blain you know who you served that reminded me we all should know.

I think this thread is nothing more than self righteous judgment. Quite frankly the unchristian attitudes in this thread and the fighting is scarier than any Disney princess or zombie showing up at my door for candy. People spend too much time pointing fingers at how others are wrong and can't seem to look in the mirror to reflect on their wrongdoing.
FYI, not celebrating halloween doesn't mean you're a godly person. Gloating about how righteous you are and how much more holy you are bc you don't recognized an over commercialized holiday isn't a proper Christian attitude either.
YOur right. We learn from our mistakes. Every new morning is a new day the Lord has given us, to start afresh. I know I've learned, thank you for being truthful, hope everyone understands that we are to forgive one another, and will be forgiven, and his mercies are new every new day. So let us rejoice for this is the day the Lord has made. What happens after this IDK. My lessons are being taught. The Lord prunes us, the dry things, so a new branch could grow, and the good fruits, especially the fruit of Love. Yes your right. Have a great day ya'll. and with a :)

I personally like reading about and watching documentaries on tv about Halloween history. The beginning of it, the commercialization of it and so on. It's interesting stuff. It wasn't until the 20th century that actual "trick or treating" came about. which really means nothing in this thread. Other than I'm bored and stuff.

Ephesians 5
11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

No fellowship means to not partake in it, not associate with it etc.
There's something to be said for reproving the unfruitful works of darkness.
What are unfruitful works? Those that do not glorify the Lord.
In what manner does Halloween glorify our Lord?
In how many other ways does it glorify everything but God.

Reprove:
1 : to scold or correct usually gently or with kindly intent
2 : to express disapproval of

How are we being a light to the world reproving anything...
...if we're afraid of being labeled a judger
...or if we're participating in the very deeds we should be against.

I'm somewhat disappointed that there are millions of people who claim to be filled with the Holy Spirit
yet are afraid to reprove the unfruitful works of darkness and instead partake in them for fear of being labeled self-righteous or a judger.

People could understand, judging and reproving are two different things.
Just because one has been confronted or accused, does not equate to being judged.
If ones conscience is convicting them of being judged they should realize
The D.A. simply brings matters to light
But Judging requires sentencing.

Furthermore, It is the churches job to reprove works of darkness...who else is going to do it?

So what has happened here?
While the enemy has distracted everybody to be so timid to not speak up
The Roman Catholic church will be credited for exposing Halloween.

When one person accuses that isn't scriptual. When it comes to rebuking or correcting someone elders go to an individual. Not just one person. It is to be done with two or more people. Not approving if something is fine. I'm certainly not as big on Halloween as I ised to be but I don't throw it in the faces of others. That can create harsh feelings.

It was before this post of the thread, so it wasn't like some kind of punishment, it was a miracle, were humans, but the Lord says he will send his angels least we go against a stone, 91 Psalm. It was a miracle, I was getting off a recliner closed but it's a rocker, and step back off it, and it rocked me onto the floor, and I could of hit my head against the wall a foot away, and it was a bare floor, no rugs. So thanking him. yeah. :)

Hello Elizabeth :)
Are you speaking of the proper order of Christian conduct within the rules of engagement when a brother or sister offends us or the Lord we serve beginning with this as the first step in

Matthew 18:15
If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you.
If they listen to you, you have won them over.

I was more speaking collectively as a body, together what the Church allows simply to not cause harsh feelings in trying to bring people to Christ.
It is one thing before someone knows God within their heart and soul.
Yet it is another when afterward being born again once we know him intimately.
The problem being after people have been brought to Christ, yet still continue in complacency continually transgressing God and then using God's own words against him by justifying themselves which effectively keeps putting Christ back on the cross.
People justifying sin using excuses like, we all fall short, all things are permissible etc etc.
I don't believe these words were written to provide the followers of Christ with excuses to remain as they are, but are instead a statement of fact and that their is a means to remedy our fallen situation...Obedience to Christ.
Ya know what I mean?
Jesus handled the ones that knew better vastly differently than the ones who didn't...right?
And the bible says once we know better...we then have no excuse.

Not wishing to stir things up again but I saw this and thought it might interest some of the posters to this thread: https://answersingenesis.org/holidays/halloween-history-and-the-bible/

It's interesting that the origins of modern Halloween appears to have began in parts of the UK - Scotland and Ireland. I remember I had never even heard of it until around the mid 80's when I had two young children and there was a knock on my door, "trick or treat" came the request of some children (I don't even remember if they were dressed-up) and I must have looked blank at them. They explained. "Trick" I said with a grin which totally threw them lol. I eventually found a couple of Satsuma's to give them lol but that was the very first time I'd heard of it and always considered it an American thing that had made it's way over the Atlantic. Not so it would seem, I think the commercial side of it probably did though.

Actually, only the Conference of Exorcists made this declaration. The Vatican itself has made no such official statement.
The Rc is the last body to condemn Halloween as it was them who Christianised it in the first place and called it All Saints Day

Catholics also hate Reformation Day.

I guess they balance it out by celebrating a bunch of holidays we Protestants ignore. Particularly if we get into different ethnicity-specific holidays in Western Europe.
