I have NEVER been accused of a lack of compassion. I will not chronicle the things I’ve done that would justify that statement. And I certainly have compassion now for all involved.
But the herd mentality one dimensional hysteria driven thinking that stopping the spread of the virus trumps every other single aspect of life, is something that is beyond disturbing for me.
You don’t hear about the studies and articles written about the death and devastation the forced isolation is causing and will cause.
I have compassion for the masses that have and will take their life out of despair, anxiety, and hopelessness.
I have compassion for the family who’s breadwinner has to wait in a line to get a box of food from some government agency because he lost his job over this.
I have compassion on the untold millions of children that are having their childhood and innocence stolen from them.
I have compassion on the abused spouse that may feel there is now no way out, and for the skyrocketing divorce rate over the quarantine driven household stress.
I have compassion on those who will develope other serious health issues like obesity and chronic depression and anxiety.
I have compassion on those who can’t get the “elective” surgery they were hoping for so long.
The list can go on and on for hundreds of pages of the things I have compassion on.
And yes, I have compassion on those that get the virus too.
But I am personally absolutely convinced the cure is far worse than the disease.
“But if we can only flatten the curve!.....we’ll pay ANY price!”
Until the curve is flattened, but the whole thing just starts right back up again.
What is it that they say is the definition of insanity?!!

part of taking care of the people who work for you is keeping them working, so that they keep earning wages, and are able to take care of themselves. if a business can take measures internally to keep people safe while they continue to operate, that's better for them than sending them home and staying shut down indeterminately.
the people will go broke without paychecks. and the business itself would go broke if it kept paying people who aren't working - if the business folds, then no one has a job, and that hurts all the employees.

yes, that is true.
here in ga,. we have a reported 176 deaths, so sadly.
but, if you dig into the numbers, 6 , ( 6!!) have passed from the virus, with no underlying health conditions.
about 35 are unknown if they had any underlying condition.
the rest of those who died all ( ALL) had a underlying condition, with the vast majority of those being 70 or older.
so, it is very, very clear who is at risk, yet the media is just fanning the fear flame , and not making a peep about this...

do you have compashion for the people who are dying alone because the hospital will not allow people in due to the dangers?
do you have compashion to the many health care workers who have and will die because of this disease?
do you have compashion for the many people who will die because there is no emergency services for them, and the doctors have to chose who lives or dies (this is going on in itally and some places in the US as we speak)
do you have compashion to the people who are afraid to go to work, yet must because they are deemed "essential workers" and not because they are only afraid for their own lives. but afraid to bring it home to their kids, their families. And their parents?

The point is to buy time to develop a treatment plan, medication that can treat the virus and not overwhelming the health car system.
There is no health care system in the world that would be able to manage the numbers of sick without mitigation.
Without mitigation many people would be left to die in their homes much like what happened in northern Italy and the work force would also be severely impacted.
When the virus is attacking people under the age of 60,... without mitigation the economy could have suffered a similar fate.
Basic first rule of economics .... all resources are limited that includes doctors and nurses.

They do not even realize what doing nothing would have done to the USA.
Complete denial of what a pandemic is all about.
Doctors and nurses are on the front lines of this, it is just disrespectful to think that things would have been just fine without any mitigation measures.
When the government is honest they call it fear mongering, funny during the Spanish Flu the American government actually was trying to suppress the dire circumstances it was only because of the fact that Spain being neutral in the war that information was getting out.....such irony.
